anyone know how i should install my subs
dawarriorman replied to sweetshee4312's topic in General Banshee Discussion
It doesn't force you to turn up the gain, thats something you do on your own. If you turn up the gain too much, and blow the sub, thats your fault that it blew, not the fact that you underpowered it. The same thing would happen if you used an amp that matched the woofer perfectly, if you turned up the gain too much. Hell, for awhile I was running a JL 12W6v2 in my truck with a 150 watts going to it from a cheap ass amp. Lasted fine, and never blew. It wasn't that loud, and the woofer couldn't perform to 1/8 of its capability, but it worked fine until the day I sold it. What do you think is happening when you aren't playing it at full volume? Most of the time, the sub is not seeing full power from the amp anyways. -
Well I searched, and after a few pages with not much, figured Id post this up. What clip position do you have your needles on? Go ahead and say what pipes and your airbox setup too. Just wondering cuz with stock pipes, I had the stock needles on the 4th clip down with the airbox lid removed. Now with T5s it rides fine, but just seems kind of weird that I would change the main and pilots, and the needle wouldn't need it.

anyone know how i should install my subs
dawarriorman replied to sweetshee4312's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Uhhh, no. Underpowering them will only result in them not being as loud as possible. Overpowering them can blow the speakers. Hell, my current system right now in my truck is a bass tube running off the right rear channel of my cd player. 22 watts of pounding bass . -
If he's just piped he shouldn't be much of a problem. I handed one his ass yesterday, course he was a younger kid that seemed kind of timid riding (wouldn't hit any big hills or do any jumps). Don't worry about it though, just make sure its somewhere where you get some traction so you embarass him.

Hell no, this is entertaining. I haven't seen a bitch this crazy since this one coke whore chick up at college that started dating a smack dealer, who left her on his living room floor when she od'd. Then after getting out of the hospital, she went right back to him.

Call up FAST, I just had him bore my top end, and with the bore, gaskets, o-ring kit for the head, new wrist pin bearings, and shipping it was less than $300. And he had it done and in the mail the day after he got my cylinders. And if the cylinder is in good shape, you don't need to bore it. Honing will clean up minor imperfections. Just make sure the ports are properly chamfered, or else you could catch a ring on the port and ruin a top end.

Yeah, the twist kits get rid of the TORS and give you new tops. So its not the TORS then.

Yes they should be better than works. Aftermarket suspension does a MUCH better job of soaking up the bumps, and keeping the quad straight than the stockers do. Stuff that would make you say oh shit, and brace yourself with stockers, aftermarket shocks will soak up like its nothing. I would get the TCS over the Elka, but the TCS are going to be more money. They raised their prices not too long ago, so I doubt you'll find a set without rezzies for anything less than $600. Rezzies are nice, help keep the shock performing better when they heat up. Id say a great deal of people don't need them, but its always nice to have, especially since it gives you adjustable compression. Go out on a typical ride, and periodically feel the shocks. Are they hot? Warm? If they are hot, you probably would want rezzies. If they aren't that warm, it wouldn't make as much difference. If you can swing it, get them. And yes the shocks will work with extended a-arms, you just have to get the revalved, and probably resprung.
-
Does it look anything like <----- ? Sucks don't it. Check ebay if you don't have the cash for a full set, I found a full set of stockers for $100 bucks. Which one is it? cuz I think I still have the left hand a-arms somewhere.

How was YOUR christmas?
dawarriorman replied to Rookie_of_the_year's topic in General Banshee Discussion

What you BHQ people want for christmas?
dawarriorman replied to Rookie_of_the_year's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Hmm, set of T5s would (I mean will) be nice. Kind of sucks when people aren't good at keeping secrets, course it doesn't lessen the anticipation any. -
If you spend 6 grand on a vehicle thats 27 years old, then pass me whatever you're smoking on. Unless the thing has been restored ground up, then pass, its too old. Its got rust somewhere, you might not find it, but I'll bet its there. And like someone else said, it doesn't matter if the engine is rebuilt, everything else is 27 years old and has a shitload of miles on it. If you want something for off road, keep looking.

Sounds to me like you have the question and answer already!

what kind of oil should I use in the lower case
dawarriorman replied to htown01shee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If you use ATF, use type F. The dexron, mercon stuff can make the clutch slip. Ive been using ATF for awhile now. Currently trying the Valvoline type FA right now. -
Jetting for 5500' , 20-30 degrees
dawarriorman replied to dnhyoung's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Id take some smaller jets with you though. Air is a lot thinner a mile up than at sea level. -
Ok jeff, more info on this. This sounds interesting to say the least. Pictures or something.

I just check it visually every time I clean the filter. Look real close, and just touch on the throttle until you see one slide start to move, then look at the other slide, let off, and see if it falls. If you listen to them close and move slow, you can hear if they aren't closing at the same time. The windows on the stock carbs on mine are all clouded up and you can't see through them.

best 2 cycle oil to use in banshee
dawarriorman replied to htown01shee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ditto. As long as you pick any one of the oils we've mentioned, you should be fine. -
Yeah, I won't get another grip besides renthal again. I've been running the soft half waffles for at least a year now, and not only do they feel great, but they haven't worn hardly at all either.

Gain horsepower from pistons with ports?
dawarriorman replied to 01bansheefox's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Actually Vitos has both pistons in either cast or forged. Wiseco makes their forged pistons. Not sure who makes the cast pistons. -
What is the largest you can bore stock jugs safely
dawarriorman replied to joeyp's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
2 mm I know for sure. I think you can find pistons for 2.5 mm too. So unless they've got some deep scratches in them, you'll be alright. -
Please tell me I'm overcomplicating something....
dawarriorman replied to odaen's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah, I've had problems before when I took the lines off. -
NOSS told me 21s are fine at sea level (Im 400 ft above), and I haven't had the least problem yet with 21s and 92-93 octane. Chart shows 156 with 21s at sea level, I just tested and got 152. Unless you are in death valley, you won't have any problems with premium pump gas.
