Ok, I haven't really paid any attention to it before until yesterday, when I let somebody take the shee for a spin. When he got back he remarked how far forward the engagement point was in the travel of the lever. Which made me think, maybe the clutch might be slipping some. (I noticed a little shimmer when I just changed the tranny oil the other day). So I went through the manual, and checked how to adjust the clutch, and mine is adjusted perfect. Lever free play is fine too. So I guess my question is, where is your engagement point?

I thought it was kind of self explanitory. Ok, I'll take a stab at it. First clean up the gasket surface. Take the bottom piece. Find the orings that fit in the domes, and set them on top of the cylinders. Then take the big bottom piece, fit the orings in it, then set it over the domes, and on top of the cylinders. Now fit all the orings in their place (studs and so on). You have no left over orings at this point. Put the top of the head on, torque it down, throw some plugs in it and you're set. Some things to note, use some grease to hold the orings in place. Otherwise they might fall out of the groove and you not notice, which will cause leaks. And look for the grooves in the domes, and you'll see they only fit with the bottom piece of the head one way.

Right, you can make them longer, and position the wheels further forward or rearward, but your not changing the geometry (I guess you could say moving them forward would change it some, but not really, everyone does the same thing anyways). Anyone that markets their arms as having better geometry than everyone else is trying to sell more arms.

blown plug and a hole in piston
dawarriorman replied to CadillacBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Outboards can have quite a bit of compression. I worked at a boat shop this past summer. There were some that had 180 lbs. I would say you have a combination of the two from that pic. Lean made it hot, enough to start detonating, and thats why the center of the piston burned up instead of the side. Once the piston started to burn the detonation went after the center of the piston. If you had been jetted right it never would have happened probably, cause it. It happens fairly often. Ive seen it on several boat motors where the carbs got clogged. Piston looked the same. -
Jim (passionre) had a good post on it in another topic (burned both pistons). Its still on the front page I think.

blown plug and a hole in piston

But see thats the thing, if you are close to the edge of needing more octane, running lean can cause enough heat to start detonating. And once it starts, if you keep on the throttle, it keeps getting worse. And that could very well be his problem too. Just out of curiosity, what fuel were you running when it did that? -
No, I really want to know what makes you think that though. Is it something Roll said, or did someone else say it? The geometry of the front end is determined by the a-arm mount positions, the shock mount positions, and the spindle dimensions. Nothing else can affect it (tie rods affect the steering). All those fancy shapes you see in the long travel a-arms are just different ways of moving the shock mount to fit a longer shock.

I've come to the conclusion its the damn shrinks fault that society is falling apart. Making us get in touch with our feelings, and having to respect everyone else, trying not to hurt anybodys feelings. Nobody can take responsibility for their own actions anymore. Its always somebody elses fault. "I only shot those people cause my parents didn't treat me right, so its their fault. And since the government would take me out of that house, its the governments fault too. I didn't know any better" Bullshit, somebody commits murder kill them. Save the trial and put a bullet in their head.

I think he said it was a 91. Im sure its not the best, but really, a keg of beer and a neon sign? And even if it was real, the few things he's done up till the jet ski weren't worth much. Once he starts getting to things worth thousands, does he really think people are going to be as giving as they were with a stove, a pencil and so on.

Theres no way you can accomplish the same thing as adding more rake to the frame. You can twist the a-arms any which you you want, put damn loops in them. Unless you mod the frame, they will all pivot in the exact same position. If the shock mounts are in the same position as stock, then you get the same range of motion as stock. I don't mean to be an ass, but Its frankly its annoying that so many people think every thing Roll makes has been touched by the hand of God.

Toys may change, but the boys don't
dawarriorman replied to cutiegirlracing's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Still no pictures. Think of it from our point of view. You come on here, talking about your new tits, and how they work when your riding with them (you obviously seem proud of them). Yet you won't show a single pic. The couple women Ive known that got new ones, were excited as hell about them, showing them to all their friends. Go sit yourself on your banshee, have someone take a picture and post it. really simple. And for the record, you're a guy. -
For some reason I just don't believe it. Just the way its written. And who in their right mind would trade a snowmobile for a keg and a neon sign? $60 of beer for a snowmobile?

If they murdered someone (it wasn't justified) then yes, fry em. But am I the only one who has no clue who the hell you all are talking about?

You got about 10 grand and they can build it out of titanium But otherwise I doubt there would be much weight difference either way.
-
Umm, no. thats just ....wrong. But I guess if it makes you happy

What did you say? Try these things called sentences. Combine them with punctuation, and we might understand you.

Dude, just call direct drive and get it done through them directly. You'd be stupid to go through him. -
I believe Lonestars frame used 250r geometry. Laeger can make you one too. Be prepared to fork out BIG bucks though, they aren't cheap.

blown plug and a hole in piston
dawarriorman replied to CadillacBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What does the plug/cylinder/head look like for the other cylinder. My bet is they should be pitted somewhat. It could have an airleak, but damn people thats all anyone ever says anymore. "Your engine blew, oh it must be an airleak". Granted it is a common reason for a motor to go, its not the only one. I would think he would have to have his exhaust port cut extremely high to be able to run pump gas with 18cc domes. And yes detonation can easily put a hole in the piston. The engine not only gets hot when its detonating, there is extreme pressure in there, and it can blow a hole right through the pison. One side will go before the other, thats why it only happened on one side (generally one side will be a tad leaner). -

Detonation maybe? What elevation are you at, and what octane gas is he using. -
Don't hit them that hard then. Hell I can crank down on the front on pavement without locking them.

I've seen an article about one before. Guy used it for flat track racing. Ive seen kits here and there, but they're so expensive its pointless. Although that was just a regular injection system. Direct injection is what we want. Injector placed in the head next to the spark plug. Fuel doesn't get injected until the piston has closed the exhaust port. Less pollution, better mileage.

Very true. Im sure the quality ones will last much longer. But its not all sand out here, its clay. And clay particles are much smaller than sand. Clay will wear out the heims much faster than sand will simply because it can get down in the heim. If its dry, its a fine dust (goes right through a K&N filter), and if its wet, its soupy water. Now seeing that there are boots out there has made me reconsider them, but in that case I don't want a boot thats not sealing, and just holding junk in there. Maybe filling it with grease. All Im saying, is we all aren'tl out in the desert.

Exactly, its a dream car. I could only dream about ever having one
