Had a similar experience with a zerk on mine. Turns out I had a little sand in it, ended up throwing it away & putting a new one in. P.S. there metric

Wertzy: I have run that oil for years in mine & for that oil I would reccomend 40:1. 16 ounces for 5 gals. I have never had any problems with it like separation or going bad over time like benol for example.

I agree with this.^

CPI must have a contract with FMF to build there pipes because the quality or lack there of looks strikingly familiar.

You can cut holes in the lid, remove the snorkel or replace your stock filter with a k&n with an adapter plate which will allow you to remove the lid altogether. Whatever you decide to do DO NOT REMOVE THE LID WHILE USING THE STOCK FILTER. The lid holds the filter in place. Congratulations on the new purchase. You'll love that bike fore ver.

Double check your mix ratio in respect to what oil you're using & put new plugs in . Once you've done that choke it & kick. NO GAS WHILE KICKING! My 2005 with stock pipes didn't exactly jump at the idea of starting cold either. I have found that one of the many benefits of getting aftermarket pipes is easier starting. The banshee just seems stuffed up with stock pipes.

I'm sure that will meet the 93 decibel rating!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see some pics/vids of that thing.

I actually had the same problem with my Fatties. Mine was also on the right side & I believe it was the bottom spring. It's most likely not your springs but rather the ring is welded in the wrong spot on the pipe. I have had several brands of pipes & I can honestly say that FMF is probably one of the worst out there for quality. Whether it be rust, springs not fitting or the pipe splitting along the seam of the expansion chamber, & the pipe hanger welded on crooked thus resulting in broken pipe hangers all the time. I had all four problems with mine. Here is my .02 cents... please take it at face value. Sell your pipes on ebay & buy another brand, after that advertise for FMF like I am doing now!!!!

Kinda sounds like this may have been self induced. But I did have a problem once where I was blowing oil out the crankcase breather hose & it was a result of blown crankcase seals. Ironicly it was right after I had it ported & the head shaved for compression(culprit). Can you say SPLIT THE CASES

Job well done! That is one very clean '98'. It's obvious you take care of your bike.

I do most of my riding in Oregon (Coos Bay) & have been to St. Anthony's twice with the 3rd. time coming in June. I have found that as a general rule of thumb you will want to drop 3 sizes from what you run at sea level as the elevation at St. Anthony's is about 5000'. My setup has been diff. each time I've went & I'm always dropping 3 sizes to get it dialed in.

How to install: New Kehin 28 PWK's: Clearance?
sandman replied to oceansidesurf's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I did exactly what your mentioning to my 28mm pwk's. Drill the side discharge out & put a screw in the bottom with teflon tape around the threads for sealing purposes. I did this a couple of years ago & have had no problems whatsoever. -
stock clutch with the use of good oil like honda gear oil. I got 14 years out of my stock 1990 clutch & I spent most of my time down in the holes at the dunes ( heat feathering etc..) Most of that time it was swimming in honda gear oil.

Just a little something I learned when I shipped my banshee frame to Utah from Wash. st. If you can get UPS to classify your package as "irregular" instead of the actual dimensions it will wind up being less than half the normal price. Frame irregular=$38 frame by dimensions= $118

I've had real good luck with Honda gear oil 85/90w. It seems to hold it's color well i.e. doesn't get dirty quickly & my first clutch in my 1990 lasted about 14 years before it had to be replaced.

The hooks welded onto the fatties I had were welded on to close to the cylinder end of the pipe. So there was no way to get the tension needed to hold it up on the cyl. Based on my past experience with FMF products quality is nowhere to be found.

The rubbers are removable as are the rubbers on the stock a arms. I had all mine chromed on my old bike (tie rod ends & a arms). Ill effects... takes all the grease out of the joint which is even more of an issue with the a arms due to the extra stress on those. I had 1990 A (J) arms that were chromed in 1999 & in 2005 one of my lower a arm ball joints ripped out of the a arm during a 30 mph roll across the sand. This resulted in a torn MCL & a 2005 banshee sitting in my garage. I will never chrome anything with a ball joint attached to it again as I feel when you remove all the grease from a joint it will accelerate the wear considerably. I'm going to run my stock painted A arms this coming year than upgrade to some quicksands next winter. As far as tie rods go, I would chrome the rod & polish the end or just leave it the way it is. Better safe than sorry as I've learned the hard way. old tie rod, the one that is not bent.

FMF pipes. 1. rust instantly. 2. my right side pipe cracked (4") along the weld of the expansion chamber. 3. 2 months later left side pipe cracks along weld. 4. one of the replacement pipes fmf sent me had a slightly crooked pipe hanger bracket thus causing my pipe hangers to break quite frequently. Advertising for fmf on banshee hq........priceless!

Vette: Very fun car to drive pretty much sums it up. I love it. My christmas list used to be all banshee stuff, now it's 2 parts. 1 banshee. 2 vette.

Very good christmas. I got polished alum. frt. brke res. & throttle covers along with park. brake block off (flame). Trinity stage 4 pipes & silencers from my fiance' Zo6 embroidered floor mats & rear cargo mat for my "other" toy. some clothes, jeans & some other small stuff. I must have been good this year.

Scary! I have basicly the exact same setup as you... .035 shaved head, 92 octane fuel ported cylinders & real close on jet size. I just reassembled my engine from a "freshen up" & after reading this I think I will move my adj. stator I just got off ebay back to 0' from +4' before I even start it up for the first time.

Up here it's $31.57. Not the highest or lowest, but makes for a good living as long as you don't live from paycheck to paycheck.Gotta prepare for tough times because there will always be tough times.
