  1. This has happened to me on regular occasions when I haven't rode for awhile. The problem at least in my case, was the clutch plates are dry from sitting for so long without any oil touching them. So when you shift into gear they won't slip past each other even though your clutch is pulled in. Cure: For now your gonna have to rev the bike up a little when you put it in gear so it doesn't die & ride the bike around your yard for a few minutes. This will lubricate the plates & when you get done with that & pull your clutch in it won't try & walk on you anymore. Long term cure: RIDE MORE!
  2. My experience with my 1990 j-arm bike is that when a j- arm is closer to the shock on one side than the other it's usually not always, a worn bushing or frame mounting bracket where the j-arm attaches. This is very common on j-arm bikes hence the change to a arms in 1991 among other reasons. This shouldn't make it steer noticebly diff. My guess is the frame is probably bent.
  3. I have 28mm pwk's & as far as a baseline to start out with for a stock motor with fatties: 155 mains. If I was you I would start out with 165 & work your way down a bit For the most part keihn goes in increments of 2 or 3 for the most part 155,158 160,162,165. I currently have some mild port work, shaved head & fatties & I'm running dual 28mm carbs with 175 mains. I'm not sure about the needles except they were changed out to a diff type by the store I purchased them from to accomadate the banshee. By the way 175 Keihn jet is equal to a 330 stock carb jet (mikuni). Hope that helps.
  4. My 1990 banshees owners manual specs out B8ES plugs & my 2005 banshee manual specs out BR8ES plugs. I know the "R" stands for resistor but why the diff plugs in respect to diff. year shees? Does it have something to do with the cdi box? Does it hurt anything to run B8ES in the 05? Thanks! Chad
  5. Thanks for the welcome. After the first couple of replies I thought I might have entered into a jungle or something This site looks like it's got a lot of info on the modding of the banshee among other things. I've already been enlightened to the fact that there is plastic or teflon in the ball joints of our A arms which doesn't react well to heat or chroming. I just had a ball joint separate from my lower A arm the other day in the sand with the end result being me in the sand. Now I've got to figure out what I 'm going to do with my new ones as my old arms were chrome and were dry as a bone in the ball joint despite my attempt at regreasing them after chroming.
  6. I thiought for my first post I should start by saying hello. I can't believe I have never come across this site before. I've owned a 1990 banshee for about 10 years now & recently (couple weeks ago) purchased an 05 banshee. I must say it has been awhile since I've rode one with stock pipes & it's kinda like riding a quad with a stuffed up nose. Once I get the engine broke in I have got to take my pipes off my 1990 & put on there.
