  1. First thing you need to buy is a pro flow air filter adapter with either a K&N or foam clamp on filter. I'd say get some main jets ranging 280 on up to maybe 320 or so. Get a box of spark plugs too. And check out this JETTING FAQ Everything you need to know is right there. Take your time and have fun with your new banshee.
  2. Get one of those hideaway key things that mounts under the seat. And its more like.... If this is a stolen bike, may you burn in hell.
  3. I know drag pipes arent supposed to be all around pipes, but I just put some CPIs on my bike after having fatties. Of course I got the drag pipes to go with a port job and other misc engine work. I put em on prematurely just for shits and giggles and they seem to have a little more bottom end than my fatties did. They have more top end also. Nothing impressive though, still have stock jugs and carbs. And of course they are louder than the fmf's. I dont know what the toomeys sound like. I'd say go ahead and get em if you plan on doing any major modifications to your engine. Just dont spend 500 more bucks on another pipe thinking that its gonna make a bigger difference say...than porting.
  4. Go get some header wrap from an autoparts store and wrap your stingers with it.
  5. If your K&N filter is clamp on, I'd suggest getting finding some 300's on up to 340's and pull that lid off your air box. It will run a lot better. My fatties hit pretty hard as soon as pulled the lid off. You can try magic racing or dennis kirk on the internet to order yourself some more jets.
  6. Is the choke crossover tube, between the carbs, in place?
  7. Stock rims are made out of aluminum. I would stick with an aluminum wheel. The steel wheels are going to be heavier than aluminum wheels.
  8. The large flathead screws adjust your idle. When adjusting one carb, remember to do the same to the other so they dont get out of sync. I would go up about 2 sizes on your mains and check your plugs. If you are running the stock air filter, I suggest you throw it away as soon as possible. Get yourself a proflow flange adapter with your prefrence of clamp on style air filter, whether it be foam or K&N. The small brass screws are the air screws.
  9. Sorry, wasnt trin to be a smartass or anything. The filters, or filter, that mounts to the inlet of your carburetors filter the air that goes into your engine. There are no other filters, that I am aware of on a banshee.
  10. The crankcase filter on a banshee attaches to the inlets on the carburetors. On the other hand, lets say my warrior, it has a crankcase vent. Looks like any filter with a 1/2" hose barb would fit on it.
  11. Cylmer's is a shop/ repair manual.
  12. Fast trekkers hook good, but they wear down quickly. Nebraska tire used to have them cheap too. Dont know if they still do though.
  13. My bike came with 200 mains, 25 pilots and needle in middle clip position and air screws 1.5 to 2 turns out. You may have clogged pilot jets.
  14. Drop a new stroker crank in there. That's what I plan on doing.
  15. How many turns are your air screws @? Try setting them out @ 1.5 turns and see how that works. Try to get it to run for about 20 seconds. If that doesnt help, try 1 turn out on your screws and let it run for about 20 seconds or so to let your engine adjust to the change. If you have stock pilot jets (25's) you may need to go up a size if you wind up turning the screws in to half a turn. You may need to adjust your idle also. Are your carbs in sync? With the filters off, can you look at the slides and do they open and close at the same time? Is your choke crossover tube in place?
  16. ^ Just curious, but where did you get your CPI's, prichard9966? The finish on mine isnt all that great. As a matter of fact, the chrome on the expansion chambers doesnt look any better than whats on my fatties. And the silencers, they arent all that impressive looking either. If they perform better than they look after I do all my engine stuff, I'll gladly STFU about the finish.
  17. That looks freakin' sweet. Are you guys taking orders yet?
  18. If you do a lot of trails, I would stick with a 20". I have some 18" fast trekkers and the ass end of my bike caught all kinds of hell in some trails that I took it on. Other than that, the performance from them was kick ass. I wouldnt recommend them for trails though. You can get caught in ruts and draggin tree branches and all kinds of shite.
  19. Is your banshee even broken in yet? Mine did the same thing to me when I first got it. Ruined a good tee shirt, as a matter of fact. Mine problem turned out to be jetting. I put a K&N pro flow air filter kit on, re-jetted for it, syncronized my carbs and set the idle and it ran way better. Also, I changed my pre-mix to 32:1 instead of the 24:1 that yamaha reccomends.
  20. Yeah I second that. I never saw any in mine before I threw em in the garbage.
  21. Man, that's not cool at all. It's real discouraging to read stuff like that espically for anyone looking to get into motorcycling. Folks doing that must not understand that their car or whatever is a mobile weapon and they can and should be charged for attempted murder for doin shit like that. I'm still gonna be riding my bike though. Just one more asshole to dodge.
  22. 850 sounds like a helluva deal to me. I'm kind of a fatass and I run the recreational editions in a dual rate. They ride good and I hav'ent bottomed my bike out or anthing. I dont know if you would need triple rates unless you plan on doing a lot of jumping.
  23. Nope. Just like to look at it every now and then.
