  2. There has definitely been a few grandiose attempts at tuned intake length and velocity stacks. Gary at SRP, Wayne "Wobbly" Wright on the TSS 500's, Plenty of GP guys playing with Aprillas and other two strokes, even Mull Engineering had a lengthened intake. Do they work? Sure if done right. Definitely a marginal result. In the end the reason you don't see much of it is because nobody worth a fuck is getting results that are worth a fuck.

  6. You can port for the stock stroke, or port it for the 4mil. You don't see much gain just swapping the crank. There needs to be a total package to get the benefits of stroke. A good stock cyl 4mil can make mid 70+ hp on pump fuel and 80+ hp on race gas.

  9. You may wanna pump your brakes and get some extra support on the steering stem hoop. Especially now that you are running a longer stem and monster riser.
  10. Staying stock stroke? If so, a pair of 28mm PWK's would be better, but a set of 33's would be just fine. They would certainly pull better from mid to top. The 33's would also be quite adequate if he ever went to a 4mil crank. Either way, the stock crank should be welded and if he goes to a 4mil, don't let Kevin talk you guys in to one of their budget 4mil cranks.

  14. I'd say you're assumptions about the excessive timing, compression, and fuel all played a role in that kind of catastrophe.
  15. Porting, compression, timing, vf4 reeds, SLP pipes, welded crank, driveline clutch.
  16. What's the price? Need a set to tide me over till snipers come in.
  17. Ditch the Dyna for OEM and a plate. You can do severe damage running a plate with advance and an advance curve at the same time. It's just way to much timing. You could run your plate at Zero and let the Dyna do it all, but with out the software and a lap top, you have no way of knowing what the curves are. Dynas certainly have their place, but it's on race bikes only when someone is able to spend the hours on a Dyno getting it programmed.

  19. I wasn't trolling when I said you could spend 10K. Stockish banshees with a few bolt ons are fun for sure. But in a couple years you'll be addicted to how fast these things can actually go. Before you know it, you'll be asking guys about how to do a mean 4 mil and buying all the right chassis parts to keep ridable. It adds up quick is all I meant.
  20. Fresh oil. Fire it and give it light rev and let the clutch out quick. Maybe a couple holeshots and it should be good to go if the basket and hub are in good shape. If if you're not satisfied, pull the cover and pressure plate. Then remove the clutch pack and seperate the frictions and steels by hand. Inspect the basket and inner hub for wear that may also keep the clutch from moving smoothly. Fuck, thread miners got me!
  21. Just call Racetech and tell them which ones you need and they'll get you set up.
  22. Banshees are awesome when you can keep them wide open. Just ask your self if you're prepared to spend 10k on one. If the answer is no, go get the raptor and be done.
