That should be a pretty good indicator that you're trying to give it a bit to much advance. Plus where the mark is on the strap, seems like it's already beyond happy. If I'm looking at that picture correctly. Dunno, maybe someone with more info on reading timing will chime in. Just seems excessive IMO. That's a big Fuggin motor and with the added dwell time of the stroke, it should be happier with less timing. To boot, your crank will thank you with several extra passes.

Using left front caliper as rear caliper

An EXQUISITE burn my good man. -
If you replaced everything and are sure it's adjusted properly there isn't much more any one can do for you. But the fact that everything is new and you are still having problems tells me something is fucky. If it ain't the parts, it's you. Not bashing, just saying that if everything is new, and you still have issues you need to take it apart and start over piece by piece with the clymer till it's right. All to often guys start a thread stating that they've done everything correct. Ten pages later, they find out it's exactley what some one said on the first. Check, double check, triple check. Always give it the most redundant over kill attitude and you'll know it's right.

Alrighty, just making sure the builders expectations matched yours. Either way, you should be stoked. Eric at empire has put out some monsters!

I'm glad you have finally decided to actually tinker with banshees. I know we've busted each other's balls frequently but it's obvious you seem to have a decent knowledge base and I'm actually pretty curious what your results will be. Your above statement is exactley one of the points we used to dissagree on to an extent as it seemed that you were always trying to compare Modern factory engines to the rediculous chore of getting these dinosaur cylinders to perform. The way you worded it above is about as right as it gets. Please keep us posted on your results as well.

Crank weld wore off need help
trickedcarbine replied to Bipolarbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well the shaft is what the gear is physically fixed to with out being dependent on a pin and weld. So if that happened to pull hard enough it could of fucked the weld bad enough to shove the clutch side toward the stator. All the while the weld on the stator was not exposed to any grinding contact so it held the stator side on the shaft the way it should be, letting it's inner web grind against the case as the helical gears tugged it toward the clutch. I'm betting that once that thing is measured by someone non biased, the right side is tweaked well toward the center. -

She's not bad. I wish I could get her to bang rich dudes to pay our bills though, so We can start stacking to build a house. -
Polishing parts to sell.

You can borrow my equipment any time you need. Not a bad start. Few more wheels and compounds and you're there. You got the shitty part already out of the way by getting all the funk and powder off. Why not do the easy finish work. http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=176326&page=1 Think Tyler may want proper advertising for any profitability going on at BHQ as well. -

We looking at the same photos? The crank has some points that are definitely worn well past 1/32. I dunno how it happened, but this guy is fucked. Almost feel like I need to pay my chick to go over there and give the a fella an ol' handy and cheer him up. -
Could try tapping it. But if a float is hanging up, it's wise to investigate why. Not assume it is free now and forget about it.

For the most part. But a good chassis builder can use geometry to their advantage.

He's talking about the tensioner, not a cover with bearing support.

For a while you were on a roll. Now it's constant posts on non pertinent info? What is happening.

Crank weld wore off need help

So to the guys saying it's impossible for a case to wear in to a crank....... What's your take after the photos? Just curious to how well folks are taking it after finding out their assumption of "Steel > Aluminum" has been debunked. -
Yahtzee.

27.5-30 pilot, stock needles (not rebuild needles), and 280-290ish mains.

Really hard to see the timing mark on the strap. One looks like it's just beyond the 90* and on the flat part. Will it fire with the previous settings?
-
Sounds like he thinks you're building an all out Dune/drag play bike. Did you remind him that this is a trail motor you're wanting done? The second you tell a builder OOF pipes...... It's a different ball game in their head. Especially when you mention wanting a dyno sheet for bragging rights. Who knows, Eric may just make that thing destroy your 535.

Crank weld wore off need help

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. You get bitched at for asking, then you get bitched at for not asking, then you just get bitched at for just being involved at all. Knowing what I know about motors coming out of there........ This is not a surprise. Kinda makes me an idiot for praising him for getting my buddy's trans redone. But then again I was just stoked to get something within a reasonable time frame. Although now that I think of it. If the trans was done right, it wouldn't of needed to be redone. Just sayin. I think it's fucked up that every one is so quick to say this guy should be told to fuck off. He called and was told oh well. The. He tore it down to prove what was going on and now gets no response. I'm sure in a day or so, some guys from the Tyson camp will chime in and give support and say that Brad is a stand up fella and all that. But the fact is, Brad is taking on WAY MORE then one guy with his shop should. Unfortunately, this is the type of shit that happens when you're in that situation. When you're behind schedule before you even open the door and turn the lights on, you are creating a catastrophe. You get in the rush and little mistakes start to surface. -
Crank weld wore off need help
trickedcarbine replied to Bipolarbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Why is nobody reading the part where he talked to Brad and was told that Brad was sure he put the clips in and now that it's torn down he gets no response to any form of communication? Why is every body so quick to say that this is impossible? Look at that thing in the video. That thing is totally being tugged over by the helical gears. OP, before I keep going out of my way to stick up for ya. Would it be possible to get pictures of the groove in the bearing where the clip would ride.? -

trickedcarbine replied to Bipolarbanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Slow down, you're not reading any of his posts. Yes he tried to contact Brad and said he was unwilling to help, and now he is no longer communicating. This is one of the common traits with almost any case where people are having issues with Brad. It seems the second people ask him to make things right you just get sent to voicemail. So to make this post, does NOT make him a dick! You said if the clip failed it would be in the gear oil? Dude, you do realize the crank case and gearbox are totally seperate right?
