I bet there are a small handful of people that could answer that truthfully...without BS. Firehead...this sounds like something up your alley....you got any comment?

Guys, Guys, Guys....you're both right. Longer rod does put less stress on the pin, bearings, etc., but...it is really designed to cut down on the piston trying to thrust itself through the cylinder. As said, adding 10PSI of cranking compression will do as much or more pressure on the assembly. You have to measure center of both big and small ends to get the rod length. Or....get a part number off the rod. H121 is the standard rod, 110mm H158 is the 115mm long rod.

boss 8 plate clitch instalation problems
dajogejr replied to nitrocircus's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
with the boss kit, you need the basket and inner hub, which you have. When you say the pressure plate doesn't fit, have you tried turning it to see if it'll match up? I have to do with stock. Otherwise, contact who you purchased the clutch kit from and/or BOSS Themself and ask for their advice.... -
I would use only NGK or Denso plugs. I buy mine at a local guy by me, but...Pep Boys and AutoZone have them as well...and they're 2 a piece. Iridium are a waste of money, IMO.

As far as being kicked off the site, yes.... And it sure wasn't because of your "love of the sport". It was because of your drama, whining and trying to get everything for free....sell things and not be a vendor of the site. So, if you trying to take advantage of us over there, then crying about it on Planet Asphalt, YOUR site, then so be it. So if it's ok for you to bash us and cry on your website, don't act like a little kid that had his ball taken away on our website. Ron, you already had zero credibility here....maybe it's time to go back to your own little world where people still think you know what you're talking about.

Run 32:1 and leave it there...switching ratios can change your jetting. You main only controls basicaly full throttle. I think you have some work to do on the air screws, pilot and needle, including making sure none of them are plugged or dirty.

4mill cub against 4mill dune port
dajogejr replied to bansheejoel's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Dunable override and lockup clutch. Some people are going to tell you they have a dune/drag motor and it shifts fine, some will tell you it won't shift for shit... Without an override, you're gonna lose races due to not being able to shift sooner or later... You simply can not shift the bike as quickly on a stock cut tranny as you can an override. If you get an override without a lockup, you'll eat a clutch a little quicker. I know you're not talking full on drag bike. But you are talking 70 to 80HP setup....which I think is the starting point for both.... -
Have you asked the guy that has your cases, the banshee parts factory warehouse? LOL...
-
These guys were riding in sand with 10 over and half worn razrs?? I need to find easy wins like that...LOL. My 4 mil cub on a 6 over with brand new holeshots in grass would fry the tires..... Those guys don't belong on a bike...

I run a pump too, but it will only pump so much. They are rated at Liters per hour. I use the black octagon Mikuni, 65L per hour...that's the highest vacuum pump I know of. You can tap the transfers, under/behind the cylinders in the case or I always tap the intake in front of the reed cage. You have to be careful using a fuel pump on a carb not setup for it (larger needle and seat for gravity fed) the pump can easily overpower the sealing of the needle and seat and flood the motor....
-
Yep...pretty much. A full billet tranny is 2500, give or take. I can find a few tenths in 1/8 and 1/4 mile cheaper than that. Like changing the primary drive gear ratio and using first, etc.
-
Or...a select few builders. SRPD out of NYC does a boost port (intake side) and exhaust triple port with no welding at all, you can not tell from the outside. Top dollar... I would go .122 dumps and .120 mains to start. You need to get a richer needle, too.
-
Stock trannies cut for override shift just fine if done right. You only need 2-5th gear for 300 foot. These are a great option for big motor bikes running 1/8 and 1/4 mile...but kind of impractical for smaller motors that don't need full billet trannies....

I can honestly say I've never seen one like that. Original and looks bad ass. Very nice work.. Have you thought about putting a Marine, Army or Navy sticker or emblem on it? Again, very nice!!!!

I ground one side of my tether to the frame, the other to the black/white wire. Never had a problem like this.... Just think of all the money you'll save from buying Monster, Red Bull, etc. LOL.

I agree...I won't even keep RS stuff as a backup. Buy a stocker off NYUK or Minkia38 or fleabay. before you put it on, shake it by your ear to make sure the magnets inside aren't busted up.

best way to get studs out of the block
dajogejr replied to Darthwall's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Don't knock this till you've tried it. Hot candle wax...drip some down the stud as best you can...it really does work, honest! Those case studs are 100% luck of the draw. Could snap 'em, could back out ok....just depends on your luck. I'd advise against using too much heat, you don't want to warp the aluminum either.... Heat up the stud/area with a propane torch (not too hot) and melt a candle against it...it'll run into the threads...try that. -
If you ask Dan Hull, he'll say if you don't have triple port exhaust, you don't need a power jet on a stock cylinder motor. I like having them...just in case. Don't confuse the need for more fuel/air with the need for more fuel volume. You only need a fuel pump if you're running the bowls dry, but if you're not mixing enough fuel and air, a pump won't help or fix that. Why give up on the PJs. Measure things out, buy a rich needle, and give it a shot.
-
As said, you can't remove the dump tubes...and you can always drill them larger. I say .120 dumps, get .118 and .120 mains. Remember, no matter how big the dump tube or main jet is, you can only flow as much as the other. Pilots I'd say 55. No idea on the needle...but it needs to be a richer (thinner) needle. Do you have a power jet in the carbs?
-
I'm not trying to be a dick when I say this, but you really need to read up more on this. You need to know what size jets. You need to know what size dump tubes. You need to know how far stuff was drilled... You tried three different size jets but don't know what size they are.... Get a drill index kit from Harbor Freight, get a digital mic from them as well. You gotta start measuring stuff out.
-
What size did you drill the main and dump tubes to? How far open is the power jet? What needle are you using? what size pilots? Did you gap your plugs down to .018?
