gotta be someone that can help me with those carbs. is it wishful thinking that there is a program that will tell me what a good starting point is for the mikunis? come on guys wake up.

Ok so here goes, it ran fine till I messed with it. 01 Banshee, Toomey T5's, stock bore, stock carbs, stock timing, cool head, 19 domes, k&n pods, water pump impeller, about 5500 ft. elevation, it kicked ass not many banshees up this way at all and there were some upset craptors moping about. Anyway here is what I did; 68mm cheetah cub cylinders, wiseco pistons to match, trinity stage iv head, 17cc 9degree domes, new stator with adjustable timing set to +4, mikuni vm34 roundslide carbs. kick it till the needle stops moving 155lbs. compression, I mixed it at 24to1 with tt 111 thinking I would run 5 gallons like that and the go to 32to1, so I get everything done and fire it up and it starts right up, idles fine but kind of flat sounding, let it warm up and give it some throttle and it falls on its face, just bogs and dies, I had 350 mains in it with the needle set at 3, everything about it tells me that it is to fat but I have leaned it down to 280 and it is no better, I went back out to the garage (after running around yelling my head off till the neighbors threatened to call the cops) put the stock carbs back on and who'd a thunk it, a little lean but runs like a raped ape,(dont ask its a long story and we all do dumb stuff when we are young), so I could use some help, I dont know if it makes a difference but remember that the carbs are round slides.

In my limited experiance from hauling fuel all over wyoming and colorado, I would go to the refinery and load fuel, there were only 2 kinds of fuel that were at the refinery, regular and supreme, I dont remember the octane levels right now but they were something like 82 and 91, now I hauled 3 levels of gas to the stations, regular, premium, and supreme, at the station pump premium is something like 87 octane and to get to that we would mix about 35% regular and 65% supreme (or vice verce) to make the premium 87 octane, it would seem that mixing the fuels is the way to raise the octane levels. just my .02

It is possible to check both bore and stroke without removing the heads, if that is how he did it who knows but him, but it is possible using the right tools to check the bore and checking the stoke can be done with a chopstick then do the math and know the displacement. Or I could be talking out of my ass I like the sound of my own voice.

Ok so I am pretty sure my stator is shot, it reads 113 ohms on one side and nothing on the other, my question is I removed the tors by taking them off at the carbs and unplugging the connectors and tying them up out of the way, I then took the switch out of the throttle housing cut the switch off and connected the two wires together, it wasnt long after all of this that I lost spark, so did I do something BAD or was it a fluke that I lost the stator after doing this? The other question I have is that I seen on Ricky Stator's ad that there are two stators for the banshee on rated stock and the other rated for 200 watts, what would be the reason for me to get the 200 watt one? Thanks for your help. One more thing is there anyone on here from around Casper, Wy.?

Not to highjack this but I lost spark the other day, after reading this post I unplugged my stator plug under the seat and ohmed it, it was 113 ohms on one side and nothing on the other, I take it I need another stator? Thanks and again sorry for butting in.

Ok so I went out to the garage and measured the engine side of my stock carb ummm it measures 28mm, so do all of the carbs I have out there, a total of eight different carbs, all measured at the same place, so Im left to wonder if the info I got earlier today was wrong oorrr (as is probably the case) I dont know where to check. NOT trying to insult anybody but Im getting about 50/50 on what the stock sizes are. Anybody have any ideas?
-
what am I measuring?? deck to deck is supposed to be 4.38? is that what your talking about? and the toomey t5s need to be upgraded?
-
Now Im kinda confused, I believe even Trinity told me I could run these cylinders on a stock crank for now if i wanted and add the 4mil later as my funds got better. But assuming that you are correct and that it is one way or the other how do I tell? Now on the carb thing is it possible to bore stock carbs out to 34mm?? Cause that what I have already paid for from a guy in R.S. Wy. and am waiting for them to get here. My pipes are T5s.
-
As I understand it is made for use with a stock crank but that i could also use a 4mil, but im also hearing that i have to get new domes, longer studs? and that my stock carbs will be to small. One other question, I keep hearing about stock carbs being 24m.m. to 28m.m. which is it??

I have found a brand new 68mm cheetah cub, just the jugs. I am getting it for 600.00 even. What else will I need to get to make this work? For right now I cant afford to get a +4 crank but hell that could change tomorrow. Thanks for looking, I am pretty new to the Banshee world. Any help is appreciated.
