Problem with 1.5qts of oil during change?
dajogejr replied to imflyinbiya's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If you got tranny fluid lubricating your crank bearings, you have bigger problems anyways....the oil/gas premix lubes the crank bearings, Dante. No one said drain the oil then start it up. 1.5 quarts after a drain will not damage anything. Fluid expands when heated, and the manufacturer states check when warm, and do NOT thread the dipstick in to check.... We don't need to reinvent the wheel...just follow the instructions. -
Isn't the 450R frame loosely based on the 250R chassis? I'd bet trying to find parts for that thing would be a real fun chore.... Looks cool though, but I can't say the 250R chassis is that much better once you figure A Arms, shocks and an axle on any modern 4 stroke.... I wouldn't pay 4500 for a bike with an almost 20 year old frame, either....

They also make a quick disconnect fitting as well, to work in conjunction with MajicMike's purge T, makes it even easier....

Keep in mind, the jetting advised is only an estimate. Although my colleague ojcool would dispute this, plugs really don't lie if you're doing the chop correctly. Rider weight, humidity, etc. all play a piece in the jetting scheme of things. And every motor is different. I try to jet a size or two rich to be safe.... The 1 or 2 HP that MAY be gained by being on the bleeding edge of lean isn't worth the costs to me.

Good point, Mark.. Small Flange. Thanks...

Pics for you....will take more if needed.

As the title says. I have a pair of out of frame CPI pipes. Big Bore pipes. bought them from a friend, and I found a steal on some Shearers that I wanted. Chrome, silenced, and I just put all new packing in the silencers last weekend, never run on fresh packing. Looking for 325 shipped.... I'd say the Chrome is a 8 out of 10. A little scuffed from me cleaning them by the header pipe, and a few scuffs here and there. Will post pics tomorrow.... Paypal add 3%. Will ship with payment confirmation via Fed Ex with tracking number.

That same setup here in MI, (again, less than 1000 feet) people usually end up with 320 to 350 main jets. But you have porting...so, no way to know for sure. I know that kinda pushes the envelope for my 1500 foot jetting rule...but, main jets are a few bucks, top ends are a few hundred...and cranks...well, you already know that.... Have fun!!

Dude, I'm in MI...no need to explain strange weather. In the end of March, we had an 80 degree day, it was a Tuesday or Wednesday. That following weekend, we got a inch of snow. It just don't make sense. Can't tell you for sure on the jetting, I can give you the rule of thumb I use. (Keeping in mind, I've always lived and rode in MI.... Less than 1000 feet.) 1 main jet richer for every 1000 to 1500 feet you come down in elevation. 1 main jet richer for every 20 to 25 degree drop in Temp (Fahrenheit) And vice versa, of course. You're already doing plug chops, so...you're ahead of the game, good for you. As long as you're doing them correctly (WOT run through 5 and 6 if possible, old plugs to warm it up, new plugs for the WOT run, old plugs back in to get to camp/truck/etc.) Than you're in great shape...

How to install an Adjustable timing plate
dajogejr replied to Finkshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You 100% absolutely need the correct thread in type of flywheel puller, unless you don't want to re-use your stock flywheel...LOL. You can find the thread in puller on Ebay for 8 to 15 bucks all day long. Clean the middle hole of your flywheel with wire brush and some WD40, thread the puller in, then hit the nut on the puller with an impact gun, will come right off. The rest is cake. Disconnect the wires from the harness (under your carbs, on top the motor), there are three 10mm bolts holding the plate in place. Remove those. There are three large phillips screws holding the stator onto the plate, and one or two small ones holding the wire loop on the back side. Two small phillips holding the pickup onto the plate as well. Pretty self explanatory. Use the point at where the case halves meet for your timing mark... Great little cheap mod. Good luck... -
8200 feet...sheesh.... I'd say you're lean a main. I'd rather err on the slight side of caution. I'd say you are damn close though. put 310s in there, and if you see a tad darker ring, you'll be ok. Some might say leave it...I'd rather be a hair rich and safe than on the lean edge of performance....

Banshee only runnin with choke on
dajogejr replied to Bansheeman1121's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
My best guess is the pilots are very large, especially with an air box. The porting MAY like a large pilot, but not if it's minor. I think you may have dirt in the carb blocking something as well. Turning the air screws all the way out (past 2.5 turns) means the pilot is way fat...or, it's clogged up. For the heck of it, put stock pilots back in. turn the air screw 1.0 out. Clean the bejezus out of the carbs with carb cleaner, a piece of wire...and get into all the little passages. if it doesn't make a difference, just for the heck of it swap the Dyna CDI out with the stocker, if you still have it. Then check the coil/stator/coil plug caps. If changing the jets and cleaning the carbs don't change a thing, start looking electrical. -
Bro...night and day difference in weight, ease of adjustability, and bling bling look!!!! All that rotating mass has gotta make a difference...

To be honest, bro....if you saw all the shit he had lined up on his bench, I don't think he'd be able to get to it in time for the trip. At least he got a steak dinner out of me. We went to Arby's at 10:00 PM. We pulled up...and I told him if they're closed, we're going next door for Steak. I don't care anymore at this point...so, yep, drive though only, went next door. That might have been the best tasting beer and steak I've had in a long, long time...LOL... I still have a few items that need chrome and polishing, and I'll get my plastics sprayed after this trip....but, damn. Wait till you see how light this bike is...nothing too it. I'd love to weigh it....

Actually...gonna get some from Justin, probably.... Planning on running Benol @ 28:1 anywho!!! Just want a gallon to fire it up and heat cycle it a few times (and to call Bob with it running telling him "daddy's talking to you Jr....") LOL...
-
Yep...if I didn't have my 400EX, I would've drove to meet him and made that my trail/play bike!! Good for you!!!
-
You missed out big, Ray... rriggs sold his 88 for 1500, and it was CLEAN as could be...he keeps his shit it top notch shape. Will keep my eye out for you.
-
Yeah, I heard.... If I would've known you guys were all going up there, I would've jumped in Bob's car and headed down too... I had to clean my garage out for the baby coming home, it's been remod time at my house for a long time, mostly done now so I can walk around the garage!! Gonna fire it up next week probably..tues or Wed.

Made real good progress on my bike today, used all the stainless bolts for the motor, front supsension, rear upper bolt (running a linkless rear, so...the rear lower shock bolt in the kit doesn't fit) I got a ton of "Little" things to do...but, everything has worked out very, very well so far. I"ll have some updated pics in my 10 mil cub build forum for you boys....
-
You've covered all the basic bases...best I can tell by what you're answered and wrote. All you're doing is pulling the carbs and pipes, not a huge deal... No...you can't use a compression tester, unless you take the check ball out of it. However, you only want to run 6PSI...and I don't think you'll be able to get an accurate reading that low anyways...(Not sure of too many motors that run with 6PSI... ) Buy a low pressure tire gage, dial style, and take the check valve out....
-
Damage the Stockers? You mean carbs? No...won't damage a thing, just missing out on some power.... A spacer plate is just one more place that a motor can leak...but it is a cheaper way to go....
