I think we were ALL wishing it would rain. They didn't pull out the water truck till about 1/2 way through, DUST CITY... Good time had by all...I counted 28 bikes on the sign up sheet... -
You just put the pressure plate on wrong, it happens...a groove didn't line up or something. I've done it a dozen times. Just take it off, rotate it...done. No biggie.
-
Yep....MADD was trying to get them to remove that...or make it an adult game period. The makers of the game pretty much said it's a game, based on fantasy. What....leave the guns, drugs, shootings, etc. but remove the drunk driving... I thought it was pretty funny.

Do you see a space between the plates and the pressure (outer) plate? You should be able to squeeze the clutch lever and see the pressure plate pop out 1/4 inch or so. If you don't see the plate pop out, something isn't lined up right... Take the pressure plate off, turn it one bolt hole (of the 6) and try it again. You'll know when it's right. DO you mean the 32mm nut that holds the clutch basket on? If you put everything back on correctly, including the washer behind the basket that likes to stick there...then no. I put mine on with a 1/2 inch impact...nice and tight.

That's just crazy... If you're spending 4 to 6 K to buy this bike, and another 4 to get it how you want...spend 8 and get everything you want from the ground up....
-
Yep...most builders are gonna be SWAMPED now...cause it's getting warm EVERYWHERE.... A lot of guys that port/build motors have real, full time other jobs because porting motors doesn't always pay the bills. It could take 5 to 10 hours or more to port cylinders. You pay 300 to 500. Do the math, no one is getting rich in this business. They do it for the love of the sport...and the personal challenge. Lots of these guys work their day job then spend time in the garage till all hours of the morning, day in, day out....and weekends too. It's a thankless job....
-
in my opinion, replace the reeds only if you still have stock petals on stock cages. Once you get into porting the motor is when the aftermarket cages really shine.
-
Take the side cover off. You either forgot to put the ball back in for the clutch push rod, or you didn't line up the plates/seat them properly....
-
If you take off the CPIs on it and put Paul turners on it...please don't buy that bike. BIG Step backwards...and you'd be wasting what that motor was designed to do. Inframe Shearers will show off the cylinders more. Or get out of frames and show the whole thing off. What you're attempting to do is build fast car but put the equivalent of catalytic converters on there because you like the way they look. CPIs and Shearer pipes run very well on cubs... PT pipes are trail type pipes for stock cylinder motors, not aftermarket cylinders with drag porting on them from the factory.... ALL of the cubs, stock to 14 mil have the small exhaust flange. If you want a 100HP duner like it says in your sig, going from CPI to PT pipes would be a BIG step backwards in that goal...and whomever is selling you the bike should tell you the same. Check compression on it. Pull the head...see what size domes are on it. No need to rebuild due to time only. rebuild when the compression is low...nikasil cylinders and a properly maintained motor will last a long time.

I like the idea. Pinned thread with that but also including rider weight, type of riding (trail, dune, mx, drag) etc. Porting is the problem. I get a LOT of questions on jetting. I have numbers in my head I always go by based on my own experiences...but I always go safely rich...and tell them to work down.
-
That's a good deal if it is in fact an A&S Cheetah motor. Carbs, pipes, ignition and motor would cost you that much alone, without a chromoly frame...suspended, etc. That's a high 3 second bike all day....

Matt Shearer finally got off his ass!?!?

I'm awaiting a phone call... I'm not gonna blare it out, have it delayed...not come true, etc. Just tellin ya something is very possible on the horizon...we'll see how it goes.. -
You are correct sirs... Our guys run the old school around here, I have a bastard year 95-96 model, and the 97 newer are bigger plugs yet.

I know it's been hush, hush...wait and wait...but when the new breed of pipes come out (Not Shearers) they'll be selling like hot cakes... -

Seems Shearer has been getting lazy in his building quality...possibly even not doing the work himself. I don't know. He lost a big retailer of his in the last few months...damn shame for him. -
DAMN would this look nice on my bike...DAMMIT. Nice deal...good luck!!
-
How does the bike run? Where was it dyno'd at. Dynos differ all over....so don't go by the number alone.

Hmm...well, we'll just have to see....LOL. HELL YES!!! You are more than welcome, as is everyone..... I think with the turnout we should have, it's gonna be 15 to 25 a man to run. Here's the deal. It costs 240 to rent the track for 4 hours. I'd like to collect a little extra and give that to the two or three volunteers that run the track, run the lights, work the tower, etc. I've asked that everyone throw in an extra 5 bucks.... I think that's more than fair... If we can manage to give the workers and extra 20 or 30 bucks as a thank you, it will go a long way in their eyes...in my opinion... SandBlastin, please come over and say hi to JT and myself. If you've never been, we're all family. Ask for whatever you need. If someone is walking around, looking for something and you got it...please help. That's how we ALL roll... Everyone will have fun. -
It uses 7 orings total. Two to seal the water (outer edge) Two to seal the combustion chamber (dome to head) Two to seal the top of the dome (where spark plug threads in) one for the water neck on the back....and the neck uses 4 bolts to hold it in place, kinda nice.
-
You'd better reread that ad. It includes everything BUT domes. I bought one....I know.
