  1. Sounds cool. I've got a 4mil small block twister I'm ordering parts and shit for right now. Hoping to have it all put together by this summer's riding season. Also rebuilding my stock stroke duner... This was my merry christmas to me presents this year.
  2. I have a set of 18cc domes I got with a cool head. I'm looking for some 21cc domes for my spare bike. They are off-the-shelf pro-design / noss domes.
  3. Looks good. I would have made it a little bit taller so you wouldn't have to bend over to get a hold of the bumper to lift the front end if you have to. Looks good & clean though! - Jared
  4. It would run like poo. If the dump tube is drilled out and you put a gas needle in there, the gas needle won't be able to plug up the dump tube like it should. You would be pulling fuel around the needle all the time, when its not supposed to, making you really rich. It would never have a chance to clean out and would just bog everywhere. I had a set of carbs like this one time and it was a lost cause. I scrapped what parts I could off of them to use as spare parts on other carbs and chucked them in the trash. If you want gas carbs you could always sell these with the correct advertisement as alcohol carbs and use that money to buy gas carbs. Or work up a trade.
  5. I ran a set of big bore pipes on a 10mil cub and a set of small bore pipes (both from same manufacturer) and it definitely ran better with the small bore pipes. But we ride at 7200ft elevation, so there isn't much air up here to begin with.
  6. I would definitely not buy this without going to the guys house and tearing it down there in front of him to verify everything was good. It seems like a crazy good deal, but you never know. I'm also not sure that they ever made the Trex cylinders in a 20mil variety. 14mil is the biggest Trex I've ever seen, but I don't know much about the history of them. He could have dug the pics off the net somewhere and is hoping someone pays him paypal and he ships junk out to the person and runs.
  7. LOL yeah. That's what ran through my head... some poor kid in his shed with his pipes glowing red hot and sticking a high-pressure line to them and turning his pipes into balloons. ROFL
  8. Alcohol carbs will have a powerjet on the filter side of the carb. Next, the main jet and dump tube will be drilled out larger. Usually in the .116-.118" range, sometimes as big as .120". Then they will have bigger pilots and a physically smaller needle to flow more fuel. The needles will have a faster taper and a shorter overall length compared to a gas needle. If they are keihin carbs your needles would be like an EGL or EGQ... around in there. Gas needles are usually a C or D series. If they have drilled mains and dumps and the alcohol needles, but no powerjets then whoever set them up is a tard-o.
  9. Wow, all these replies and no one has suggested looking at your plugs yet. Pull your spark plugs and take a look at them. What do the plugs look like? You said you only had the banshee for about a week... whats your background with the banshees? It might have felt like it was running perfect before, but you could have been lean and slowly melting the top end down. Might have stuck a ring. Might have a chunk of the clutch basket broke off and bound up in the primary drive gears... Might have a bearing somewhere that decided to seize up. If you got water down in your crank while washing it, you could have a rusted up lower rod bearing... Lots of things can bind them up. Pop your clutch cover off and take a look around in there. If everything appears ok then move on to the top end. But before you do any of that do the easy stuff first. Take your plugs out and tell us what they look like. Whats your jetting? Elevation? Mods to the bike? - Jared
  10. I can totally picture someone getting the pipes red hot and putting the air to them and blowing a hole through the pipe where the dent was... lol Doing this will also have the possibility of discoloring your chrome or nickel plating if you have it.
  11. The spring that rides on the eccentric also gets worn over time, and can wear grooves into the eccentric. If it isn't broke off, I'd bet the two parts are heavily worn. Another part that commonly wears out is the light tension spring that keeps the hooks on the shift shaft centered on the shift star. That little spring gets too loose and the shift shaft doesn't stay aligned correctly on the shift star. You can buy a brand new shift shaft, eccentric, eccentric lock nut, eccentric lock washer, and the heavy spring that returns the shifter to its home position all through www.cascadeinnovations.net or any builder. Kevin at Herr Jugs can get you all the parts you need once you tear it apart and see whats broke and needs replaced. - Jared
  12. Who converted them? Mains? Dumps? Needles? Pilots? Where is the pickup for the powerjets? If the overflow on the bowl is modded to be the pickup, make sure you post pics of the insides of bowls so folks know what they are getting...
  13. .120 is pretty big. What needles you have with them to plug that dump tube up? Who did the conversion? What type of powerjets do they have? Post up some pics...
  14. If all you are going to do is straight drag racing then the 38 or 39 would be a good size choice. If you are going to do any recreational riding with it, then go with a smaller carb like a 34 or 35 and recover some of your throttle response. I personally prefer the Keihin carbs. Both are about the same to jet. The mikuni's are a bit bulkier under your seat and take up a lot of room around the pipes. I also like the screw off tops on the keihin carbs more. The mikuni's usually use 2 screws to hold the tops on and they like to strip out like the float bowl screws. Drag Racing I'd go with a 39PWK Recreational Riding I'd go with a 35PWK or 34PJ Call Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing, he can get you whatever you end up going with.
  15. Get a rubber stopper with the compression washer on it and plug one end of the pipe, fill it full of water and plug the other end of the pipe. Toss it in a freezer. When the water expands when it freezes it will pop the dents out. Done a couple pipes like this. Some of the better pipes with thicker walls take a couple freezes to do it, but usually works. Crown Plating out of Utah will also chrome used pipes. The guy is always kinda grumpy, but they do good work.

  17. You could always switch over to an iron sleeve Twister cylinder. But before you do anything, you need to figure out why you melted the nikasil in your cylinders and prevent it from happening again in the future. Something is out of whack with your setup or you never would have melted them. Even if you re-plated them or swap to an iron sleeve you will just blow it all up again unless you find out what caused it the first time and fix it.

  19. Its one of those things that's just kind of up to the user. I like to run mine along the frame and under the middle of the gas tank and through the loop in front of the tank and up to the bars if I'm using a full length harness. I usually chop the harness down to the basics and just tuck the CDI up front under the plastics.
  20. It does exactly like what it sounds like it does. It cushions the gear from the impact of the clutch basket when it starts rotating. It would be very hard on gears and your crank if the power transfer through the clutch was applied directly to the clutch basket gear.
  21. If your looking for a duner, then the Twister would be a better choice. Smoother powerband and better torque curve. Yes, the DM's make more HP per cc, but the Twister will be a better ride in a duner. The DM is going to get hot on ya in the dunes. Good luck with it though! Post pics when you get it all built.
  22. Some of them didn't have the lock screw through the nut. Its an early model. The nut is threaded on the inside and when you turn the nut the internal portion moves against a snapring that sits recessed inside the nut. To get to the snapring to remove it you have to spin the nut in place. The nut will not come off until the snapring is removed. I've done a bunch of these...
  23. Your going to have to provide more information and pics if you want to sell your cylinders man. Port timings, pics, where did you get them from, etc... Just trying to help ya out.
