  1. Its totally normal. The reason it does this is due to how the transmission "grabs" the gears together. There are little cogs on the side of each gear that have to line up, if its not spinning they won't grab, they just touch eachother and go back to the previous position. Dunno if that makes sense or not, but I'm thinking since you had it split and looked at the gears it would.

  5. What kind of riding do you do? What mods do you already have done? The cheetah requires different reeds, and I think maybe a different manifold where your pipes bolt up, but not sure on the pipes.
  6. Nah, can't really call it a 97. Its more like a 2005 then a 2006 and next year it will be a 2007. I'm constantly dumping more parts and new junk into it.

  8. I get 112octane from a little local station around here for $6/gal. I run it at 50/50 with mine with no problems. I'm also at 7500ft though. Try to drop your timing down a little bit. I can run pump gas if I leave my timing at 0-4

You can get an all-out rigid drag bike for that price. The stuff you listed isn't even that fancy... I would be really really surprised if I could get 6-7 for mine...
  10. You can always get a fuel pump that runs off the intake pulses. Those work pretty well.
  11. I did have some K&T stock stroke cubs on with my 4mil stroker running with stroker domes. Made it more of a dune-port. I traded the stock stroke cub for a K&T 4mil cub. Same thing, just the new one is cast for the 4mil. Moved the port timing up a litlte higher and gave it more top end.

  14. Get a swinger with bushings. I got one from loco and love it. No more bearing crap for me! Two bushings in either end of the swinger is all I need to worry about.
  15. There is a HUGE thread about this with walkthrough and parts description that you will need to buy from your local parts store. Its a couple springs and some other little things, cost maybe $5 and it will never rattle again. Go search for it.

  17. First of all, this site isn't here for anyone interested in advanced tuning or getting mega power out of their banshee. Go over to planetsand if that's what you want. The discussions there are a lot more technical and provide more number based data. Bansheehq is more for the average joe banshee rider who likes power but isn't all gung-ho about being PERFECTLY tuned. If anyone disagrees with me they haven't spent much time at planetsand doing research. Yes, HQ has a wealth of information, its just not the same sort of information as PS has. Show me a post on HQ where someone went through and gave port timing numbers and degrees for how to port your own cylinders, then helped the guy with different numbers for different pipes... Everyone on HQ is kinda secretive about how they do things sometimes. Planetsand is a lot more openin that respect. Sounds to me like you would fit in better over there. You earn attitude around here by being a dick and a post whore. (me). Read this, understand it, then you might be able to get back to me about how to tune my ride. Show me some calculations you made based on your readings, and some porting you've done based on your findings, also some home-made pipes would be nice. http://edj.net/2stroke/jennings/2stroketunershandbook.pdf I've worked in a few machine shops and did a lot of research in college concerning two-strokes. I've probably machined more parts for my own banshee than you've bought for yours. Yes, I know about piston wash, long before you came to the HQ, yes I run mine rich, but I do it for a reason. I work with experimental fuels from time to time (That I make on my own). I have reasons behind my madness.
  18. Its not how high the cub revs that would kill you on trails but HOW the power hits that would kill you. They are a drag port cylinder and hit ALL at once. I will get a video for you today to give you an idea of what we are talking about. I will try trails every now and then with mine and its basically lugging it around really low in the rpms to get around corners and over crap, then when I find a little straight away you open it up and go flying up to the next turn or obstacle where you smash on the brakes and you are back down around 3-5000rpm with not much power. A dune or play port would give you all you are looking for. Some things that will help you if you haven't already done them are: Reeds, Higher Compression, advance timing, bigger carbs. Those will give you more of what you are looking for, then get a dune port or a play port. Jeff at F.A.S.T. does a port job that would be pretty good for you. If you can find them any more get a set of Gorr woods ported stock cylinders, they would be PERFECT for you. The guy isn't around any more so they are pretty rare, but are exactly what you are looking for.

  25. I will ride mine on some pretty good trails around rock springs, but I'm only on the pipe for about 2-3 seconds then I have to let off and get on the brakes. Yeah, you can ride them on trails but it would be dumb. You wouldn't ever be able to open it up like its meant to be ridden. Only time I open mine up on our trails is when I hit one of the big-ass hill climbs. I'm hoping to get some video this afternoon of our "trails" and me going up one of the huge hills for everyone.
