  1. Aw, just drill your own hole then! Ha ha Ha!
  2. You can do some tricks with other new / additonal springs too, while you have it apart. Put a small, not too stiff, spring on top of the post that the kicker sits down on and it will keep constant tension pushing upwards on the kicker and get rid of most of the rattle that comes later on.
  3. Check out "CC Specialties" for an idea of how much some of the tools cost. I have their 90
  4. It is an older style mono-block cylinder, like the cheetah, but older technology. Heavier, bigger intakes than stock, powervalves... There's a member here on the board that has two of them, he can get you pics. I have a bunch of pics of one, the guy I ride with has one, but I just woke up and don't feel like digging through pics. Sorry.
  5. BIG impact gun and a really loooong socket. LOL I do the pipe wrench thing too, with loctite. Hasn't failed me yet.
  6. Sounds like you got one that was well used. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Don't give up on it yet. The TRex can be a monster once you get it tuned and running right. Get a TZ bearing for your crank as well, you might as well replace all your seals and bearings and stuff through the whole thing since you are going to have your cases split.
  7. Sorry jeff, but I have to disagree on that one too. I had a 4mil crank, stock cub running with cut domes to lower my port timings, T5's and 33's, which would give more low end response. There was no way I could or would try to ride that thing on any kind of trails. Way too much power up on top, even with my attempts to lower the port timings. Got a cub cut for the crank I had and put on some CPI pipes and 35's and let it breathe right and it was an absolute monseter up on top in the sand, and definitely no way in hell I would try it on trails. JMO. Have nothing against jeff, I just don't think cubs are a wise choice for trails. Get a set of stock cylinders and have jeff port them or someone else port them for low end stuff and you would be a lot happier IMO.
  8. Yep! I could take pics of the transfers and stuff I've done in there or the exhaust, but you wouldn't really be able to see much. LOL Intake is just easy for pics, like rippen said.
  9. Well put. It takes the right tools and the know-how to do it correctly. I just screw around more than anything. Trying different combos of stuff until I find something I like... I just get bored sometimes and go after a set of cylinders and see what happens.
  10. I'm not done yet. That's just all I had time for that night. I will post progress pics as I go along.
  11. I agree. But when you have all this banshee crap laying around in your garage, why not tear into them with your fancy-pants tools & crap? LOL
  12. Shoot me some pics in a pm please.
  13. Another little something you can do that will help... Buy the rebuild kit as loco said, but go to your local parts store and buy a small, medium tension spring and put it between the post the kicker sits on and the kicker itself. This keeps tension pushing up on the kicker and keeps it from rattling.
  14. Its a free service. Never ran into that before. I just went and set up a fake account to test this and it didn't ask me for credit card anywhere. There is always an option for free setup on just about every email account hosting site.
  15. Its usually because I am up so late every night browsing ebay for banshee crap. I find those strange auctions that end at like 3am and I go in there and bid like $.50 more than the top guy. LOL Plus I have a really fast connection so I go in and bid like 5 sec. before the end of the auction. I am thinking about buying some ported cylinders from another member I know and if I do I will probably sell these cylinders. Watch the for sale section, you might see these there. Most of the time I get stuff like this, tinker with it, then sell it to someone who really needs it. Unless I do a good port job to them, then sometimes I keep them and run them on friends bikes.
  16. I would so kill her in a round of beer pong. LOL Get her all tipsy and see how well she does it. ROFL
  17. I wouldn't mind having one just to tinker with in my free time. LOL would be fun.
  18. For just a re-ring hone I would do it myself. I have used both the spring loaded ones and the ball-tip hones and i like the ball-tip hone. Take your time and do it right. Don't rush on stuff and it will pay off in the end. You can do most things to your shee on your own with a good set of tools.
  19. OK got a set of totally stock cylinders off ebay, including head, studs, bolts, pistons, rings, wristpins, bearings, etc for $202.17 It was a good deal. They were used but not bad shape at all. I took them to work and sand blasted them and started doing a little cleanup on them. Haven't decided what kinda port I want to do on them yet, so just doing a cleanup for now. I will keep everyone updated on what I decide to do and will post pics as this build goes along... As they came out of the box... After Sand Blasting... Sorry if this pic looks weird, had the cylinders sititng on my mill for the pics. After a little cleanup work... Got tired and came home. Did the intakes on both cylinders and i will clean up the transfers tomarrow if I have time. Maybe polish the exhaust a little if I'm bored.
  20. LOL I can split the cases and change out a crank / transmission if I have the parts all there and a clean work bench in about 5 hours. That's back in the frame and running. Its retarded. Thats really rushing though, and if nothing fuggers up along the way. If i take my time and I'm checking tolerances and torqing everything down correctly I can do one in a day or two. That includes leak testing and all that fun stuff. Of corse I won't be getting much sleep, but when I'm going to town on an engine I like to do it and get it done so I can get back to riding! LOL
  21. I wonder how his port does against the old gorr woods port? My gorr cylinders with t5's and 33's was retarded down low.
  22. LOL, its not really any kind of fancy voodoo. Just machine work on the drum and work done to the cogs on the gears themselves for the most part. The duneable is a little different, but still the same principle. The dunable uses springs to help center the shift forks. At least the one I tore apart did. LOL I have used springs in my transmission for years and never thought anything about it. Now I wish I had a patent on it. I wonder how many of those little things I've done I could have made money off of. There's a couple other little things I've done inside the cases that I THINK have made a difference that I haven't seen anywhere else. Maybe I should patenet them! LOL I've always been one to experiment with stuff. Yeah, blown up a few engines and trannys and stuff but once you get something that works dialed in good its fun to know you have something no one else does... I have a shift drum that I modded myself and I love it. I've also done some stuff to my 450 already. I pissed off a LOT of people on labor day weekend at the dunes. Aparently they don't like getting passed by a YFZ with stock exhaust and stock cams. I raced a guy who had an 04 YFZ with hot cams, pipe, intake, high compression piston and CDI and I would walk him by 1-2 lenghts at the top of the hill. Only thing I've bought for my 450 is one of those intakes off ebay. The rest of the stuff I've done myself. LOL Gotta love it.
  23. I have both and I will say that if I am going to ride any kind of trails I take the 450. I don't even take my banshee to the ranch any more unless my girl is with me. The banshee stays on the sand from now on. Spent too much money on it for beating it up on trails like I used to. The 450 is great on trails, tight or wide open. The suspension on the 450 feels a little stiff to me, but I'm used to a banshee with aftermarket suspension. I feel like the 450 beats me up after a while, but I've kinda gotton used to it. Its light and nimble and you can do pretty much anything you want with it. - Jared
  24. Aw, just weld the sucker on! Ha Ha Ha! Seriously, it doesn't need to spin.
  25. Something to kinda add to this... I'm always willing to go out to the garage and make a walkthrough as best I can for someone who needs help with something. Especially now when my junk is tore apart all over the garage, and all my parts are cleaned and ready for re-assembly. I even did one on how to clean your carbs for a guy not too long ago. I have a bunch of digital cameras and have no problem taking my time and getting pictures step by step for anything I do.
