K&N Pods for sure. If you are really worried about getting sand in them I've seen people put womens nylons over the filters, then put the outerwear over the top of that.
Just be sure to keep your outerwear away from your pipes. Makes a hell of a mess.
I wish I could have spent MORE time in school. All that idle time in he afternoons and evenings was when I got in the most trouble. I got smart and got myself a job after getting in some trouble a couple times and the job kept me out of trouble a lot. I'd say longer school hours or get a job...
Its good for you to be in school... Lets you afford banshee parts later in life. Ha Ha Ha!
I tend to agree with mike on this one. when I spend $$ on a NEW product, I expect it to work like a NEW product and not need adjustments that in turn FUCK everything up on the unit.
I generally use a diesel parts washer. Its basically like a dishwasher that heats up the diesel and works just like a dishwasher does... works great and gets into all the small nooks and crannies in the cases. Once its done washing them I blow them off with a high pressure air hose and that's it.
If I don't have time or access to that I use brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Brake cleaner dries and leaves no film. Carb cleaner tends to leave a little bit of an oily film on stuff and attracts dust and dirt if youre in those conditions.

I'm with jeepman. I open mine up more than that when I'm just doing a cleanup for the most part. But run them and see how you like them. If it makes good power, who cares what it looks like.
I figure it can't be any worse than the number of top ends I end up going through in my normal ride season. Hitting the dunes a couple times a week after work and being there EVERY damn weekend I'm off all weekend long puts a lot of hours on my shit.

Dunno how far you are willing to send your pipes, but I know crown plating in utah can re-plate used pipes. They charge a bit more since they have to clean the shit out of the pipes before they can dip them. They are really back-logged right now anyway, so....

Yeah I'm sure I will fuck myself one of these weekends when I get a lazy spell and decide not to purge before I load up and will forget when I get back to town and let it sit for a week or two with methanol in there... that will suck, and I'm sure I will do it one of these days.

Purging is NOT that big of a deal. Originally i thought it would be a huge headache, but if you get a purge valve from majicmike and make yourself some kinda purge tank system its NOT hard to do...

My very first banshee was an 87 and I just bought like 10 cans of flat black and didn't mask off anything. I painted the ENTIRE quad flat black. Shocks, a-arms, hoses, wires, cylinders, engine, bars, key switch... everything. It was funny as hell.
Sounds kinda fishy to me... I've never heard of them calling ahead of time, that would defeat the purpose of the repo. I would be sure to keep it WELL locked up and possibly even hidden somewhere else. Just sounds weird to me. But that's a great idea... I'm going to start "repo'ing" banshees. Ha Ha Ha! :shoothead:
Just to clarify something... at the very very beginning it says in very plain english that this isn't a guide and I'm not a professional builder by any means. You're using this thread as a "guide" was your first problem. The pictures were simply there to show you whats involved in splitting the cases. Had you bought and followed the procedures in a clymers manual you wouldn't be minus one crank. It even says right above the picture of the extension through the rods... THIS IS HARD ON RODS. Sorry you fucked up a crank, but it was your own fault, not this thread. These are just pictures to give you an IDEA of whats involved, NOT a guide.
Here's a quote from the very first page.
"I am NOT a professional builder. These images are only to give you an idea of what is involved in a tear down. THIS IS NOT A MANUAL!! GO BUY A DAMN CLYMER IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE!!! I am not responsible for anything you jack up while trying to follow these pictures."
shit, I wish I had enough time to learn that shit. I work 11/3 and that 3 days off doesn't leave much time to build my shit any more or play for that matter. I'm barely going to have enough time to get my blue/green banshee together before my sand season. Plus my chrome shop is a 3 hour drive one day from where I live, so that would be a bit of a pain...

I did my latest frame candy blue. Suspension and engine mounts and grab bar are candy green. Going with black plastics. But I'm going to try my white plastics on it and see how it looks before I order black plastics.
