  1. That's my experience as well. Still worth a try tho.
  2. Yeah, we were having so much fun out there this past weekend we didn't even take the camera out of the case. Got a pic of the mountain when we were driving in, and that's it. HAHA! Next time I take it out racing somewhere I will get some videos of it running. I'm trying to dig up some fast bikes around here and get them to come race.
  3. I'll nab some eletrical parts off one of my other banshees and try it out and see what happens. That CDI is pretty old.
  4. I've tried three sets of carbs: 35.5 Mikuni's set up by K&T, a set of 35 PWK's and 38 air strykers both that I set up. the 35's have .116 dumps and the 38's have .118 mains. Crank is good. Checked that not too long ago.
  5. Its a 612cc Big Block 10mil Twister that Firehead built and did some tricks with and tuned on his dyno. I've never ridden anything like it. I've been on 10mil cubs and 10mil cheetahs and I garuntee they couldn't shake a stick at this thing. The big blocks don't normally come in a 10mil stroke. Firehead did some magic and managed to make one work with a long rod crank.
  6. I've tried two sets of domes from dave at noss machine and a set from patriot racing. 19cc and 18cc domes. I have an experimental set from dave with a really wide squish that work really well with this setup, but still back the plugs out. Then another standard 18cc 4mil domes from dave at noss and it still backs them out. When I give it a lot of timing like I would expect to run well with methanol it makes it a LOT worse. Same with the compression. I've also tried different thickness base gaskets, and had squish at .028, .035, .042, and .056. Same thing with all of them. Backs the plugs out. It doesn't burn any straps. Ever. The plugs are soaking wet every time, and no signs of detonation on the pistons or domes. I've actually never had it burn a strap since I've been messing with this top end. Its got me stumped.
  7. .018" Good point calvin, I will double check that pump pickup and probably just put a threaded plug in there instead of the hose barb. - jared
  8. I've checked for leaks many many times. Even in behind the flywheel. Also did a leakdown test on it a week or so ago and held 10lbs for 15min. I've gone from a .120 main with powerjets all the way open and it running like total shit down to .112's with no powerjet at all. Doesn't seem to matter. Still backs them out. No matter how much this happens, there is never any damage to pistons or domes. No pitting, discoloration, anything. Could it possibly be hydro-locking inside the cylinder or could vibration cause this?? I've done everything else I knwo of that will generally cure this issue with no luck. I'm not new to methanol by any means, but this one has me stumped. The bike runs hard, but has more in it if we can get past this issue.
  9. Anything more than 4 degrees timing on this bike will back the plugs out even more. Went from 4 degrees retarded to 7 degrees advanced. The more timing I throw at it the worse it gets.
  10. It was 55-60 degrees all weekend. The problems with the plugs backing out happened at all hours of the day. Morning, afternoon and evening.
  11. Plenty of fuel.. Those carbs have billet bowls, one float removed and fed by a pingle.
  12. Damn dude. That thing is ridiculous. Hands down the fastest thing out there while we were there. I'm going to need more swingarm for sure if we are going to do more hillshooting with it. 85mph-ish up the mountain without any gearing changes or jetting changes yet. Still running it just how you set it up. It scared the hell out of me a couple times. I absolutely love it. The closest thing to me was an R1 banshee spraying a 75shot. As soon as I would catch 3rd I would run away from him... a lot. For wet sand on the hill those 14 paddles are about perfect, with a little longer swinger. On the dry sand or on flats I will need a 16paddle stagered or something beefy. Its scary fast for sure. First bike I've ridden in a long time that made my hands shake when I shut down. 152hp at the rear wheels is fucking insane on a hill bike. I love it.
  13. Timing at 2 degrees. Keihin 38 PWK Airstrykers. 55 pilots, EGN Needles on middle clip. These are some experimental cylinders of sorts. Had a builder try some different ideas I had with them. Any chance the porting could make it do this, or do you think its a timing / fuel issue?
  14. Anyone know what it takes to detonate meth? I had some issues at sand mountain backing plugs out on meth. Was curious what it takes compression-wise to do it. Had .116 mains and powerjets open all the way up. Had another bike with .109 mains and powerjets off and it wasn't detonating, but he had 19cc domes and I had 18's. Both 4mil bikes.
  15. I have a pile of hoopdie that I would like to trade for a nice, not-pile-of-hoopdie. LOL I was just looking at some of the trade ads and got a chuckle at a few of them and had to post my own.
  16. Bump! Nice bike! Someone snag this!
  17. How big you looking for in an alky carb?
  18. Hooah! You build 10mil NOW! Slap! Someone needs this! Very fast bike. Put some light-weight shit on this thing and it will haul some major ass. - Jared
  19. I run way longer than 500' races and do pretty good with only a 2-5.
  20. bump for a good guy!
  21. Counting down the days...
  22. Check with louie at twister as well. Every now and then he does odd-ball things like this.
  23. Never mind. Got a set of CPI OOF pipes. Traded a port-map of some cylinders for them.
