  1. I realize what the plug is supposed to look like, and I know I am a little rich, but what I am telling you is my pipes were very cool still being rich. But like you said w/the fuel burning in the pipe, not sure why mine wouldn't feel hot being rich as well?
  2. Awesome! Thanks for the info JT! If you get a chance to get the measurement I would appreciate it. I may take you up on the offer, but I don't hit up 96 till the 131 intersection. I think you live quite a bit further east don't you?
  3. Hey Jeremy! Yes quite the jump, but what a difference alky and a lockup makes...WOW! I think you would really like the way it runs now. I am going to try and make it as much as possible, but don't know all the dates yet as I go when I can w/the little one.
  4. Can you post pics of the plugs? I am learning as well so not sure I can help, but would be easier for others to help. I know if you are rich on gas you can get a burn in the pipe from the excess raw fuel burning in the pipe... I know on my bike couple weekends ago, it didn't show any heat on the plugs after several runs, but pipes were pretty cool to the touch almost immediately after shutting it down.
  5. Got the front covered, I run blaster shocks and they seem to sit pretty low. You said it was an R6 shock? Is it a direct bolt on, no mods? What years work? I may be able to find one on ebay till I can afford marvins and all that jazz. Are the 300ex shocks shorter than the blaster ones? And any mods to bolt those on?
  6. You guys are too good to me. Shayne, I prefer not to use yours as I don't wanna change anyones setup just for me to ride one day. I really appreciate the offer(Hurry up and get your shit done so we can hang out!!!) Dave, once again you are more than helpful. If Evan doesn't go, let me know. Also, do you know if Evan found someone local to polish his stuff for the 450? Jt, I weigh 185 and have a +10 swinger w/a link. I am not sure how to figure out if your shock will work as I think you use it as a direct mount don't you??? Once again, can't say enough about this group of guys, didn't think I would get this kind of response!!! Appreciate everyone trying to help.
  7. Dave, Shayne, Jt, Jeff, Jeremy, Doug, Brady, and whoever else may possibly make it to Silver Lake for M-day weekend I need some help. Running a brand new setup this year and my stock shock just plain will not work w/the length swinger I have. When I launch my ass hits the ground and my chain ends up w/so much slack it skips teeth. Do any of you have a revalved shock, or a nice stiff marvin that I can run for Saturday? Doesn't much matter the length as I have an adjustable link I am using. I am a little short on funds to purchase one at the moment and really want to run Saturday! Also, I have one day to play as I have a newborn at home and Saturday is it. I can't get up to the lake early enough Friday to get a dune ready, or be in line early enough to be guarenteed a trailer voucher. Wondering if someone will have an extra body in their vehicle if I give a license plate number to get me a voucher(prefered) or get there early enough to get a dune ready or two for me. I think they start giving them out at noon on Friday for the entire weekend now. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I will definately trade work, polishing, or a favor when in need any time. Oh yeah, would also gladly purchase a case of beer of your choice if preferred LOL!
  8. For the price, I have had great luck w/Tusk. But as mentioned, can't go wrong w/Jeff's clutch setup!
  9. I was trying to undarstand why people were coating the sides??? I agree w/Dave, eventually the stuff is going to chip and crack and you will have it floating around in your tranny and clutch area....
  10. W/head, domes, pistons, and gaskets included I would say that is pretty cheap. Can't wait to hear how they run out the box!
  11. I run a totally stock ignition w/plate and works fine. If you want to be able to change your timing curves at the flip of a switch and even better program custom curves to best suit your motor you would probably want to go w/a dyna(actually affordable) If you have $2500 laying around(or so) the Wilburn is probably the best. But that being said, unless you are going to spend some time on a dyno w/someone good to really dial in your ignition, the stock setup will work just fine.
  12. Oh boy..... Fuel to oil is not what makes it rich or lean. I didn't actually know Banshees had keys....
  13. I would say go w/a lockup as well. Especially if you are going to run an override!
  14. I ran CPI inframes the last two years, and have one ride on my shearer OOF's this year. I like them both. It is hard to compare, as w/the new shearers I also started running Alky. HUUUGGGEEE difference, but I am pretty sure the Alky is what is making the big difference! Your timing may be a little high for a gas motor. It may make your engine peak out lower in the RPM's and may not be gaining much....Some food for thought!
  15. Your paddle and swinger selection will depend on each other and your weight. You can get away w/a very aggressive dune port, or mild drag port and still dune(I duned a drag port for a couple years). Wouldn't go any longer than a +6 if if you want to do any serious duning and 9 paddle if you are mid weight to heavy, a 10 paddle if you are light. And rather than spending $200 on reeds, put it toward a dunable override. You will be much happier! If you have money for both, that is a bonus! Depending on how aggressive your port is you may or may not need a lockup. I got away w/Toomey springs on an 80 horse bike untill I got an override. Once I got the override, it started eating clutches. That oughta give ya a little to think about for now!
  16. Have to double check, but I think I have one in good shape for $100 shipped.
  17. Does someone that is coming have a stock stator cover(prefer black and something decent looking) that they want to sell and can bring w/them? Or even better, a beat up aluminum they can let go cheap???
  18. Have seen a stator act like that.
  19. I have a feeling Jim will say, stock pipes, what are those??? It won't hurt anything to run it, just start out fat on the mains and go down from there.
  20. Only thing that it could be is you are so rich on the main jet that when it starts running out of fuel it cleans up and runs. I bet not for long though. Did you change your jetting, or is this a new build all together?
  21. I am still not sure Shayne. I have a buddy who has a cabin there that I usually stay at, but have been thinking of doing some camping for the hell of it and maybe let their family have some privacy for once LOL. Besides, I absolutely do not drink and drive, so I may just get a site there so I can do some partying and not have to get home after. I will let you know asap! I still have to get the approval from the wife and new baby as far as staying for several days. The one day races and test and tunes are much easier for me to attend until the baby gets a little older.
  22. Always glad to help a bro out! You don't owe me anything, but I do look forward to tipping a few back w/ya! I checked into meth today and is still at winter price. Torco salesman said it is ready to go down to dirt cheap again, just need to get rid of some of there winter stock. I will probably just try and buy some off you JT rather than driving 45 min. each way to pay the inflated price for it.
  23. You need to split the cases. Some people try and "flush" the bottom end out, but you will never get all the fragments out after a failure like that. You definately went lean on the bad side wether it be a air leak, or temp change and just didn't check your jetting.
