  1. May have sucked some water in, do you still have the lid on your airbox?
  2. I learned on my 01 GSX R600, I had ridden my buddies suzuki rs600 a few times before. I like the feel of the gsx r's and how the bike feels wider and has a huge tank. that bike was sweet. then someone stole it
  3. Question on bore sizes.... I just recently rebuilt my top end. I had a shop bore my cylinders and order my pistons. I have seen and read people posting #'s such as .20, .30, .60 over. My question is how would i know how much mine were bored? It was the first time they were done, and I'm pretty sure that they were not that beat up. I got wiseco pistons and i went to their website and it lists the bore sizes in incriments of .25mm. Did they bore my cylinders .25 over? Just curious, though someone would know more than me. thanks
  4. If you had good compression before..... I would say put the new head on and test compression again. Unless you want spend the cheese on a new top end, then go for it while the head is already off.
  5. Lubrication?
  6. ????? no idea, dont have a twist. but if you remove the TORS and install the idle kit, it is quite simple
  7. If you have never ridden a "crotch rocket" then yes it can be difficult. The biggest thing is turning and maneuvering at low speeds. Once you get going, the bike will basically keep a straight line, turning involves more leaning than turning of the bars. You wont get hurt if you take the time to learn how to ride, and ride safe. I had a 2001 GSX-R 600 as my first bike, loved it. but once i was used to it i wanted something bigger. not that i needed it, that bike will haul major ass! money wise, dont know your situation, but i would look at bikes that are a year or two old but in perfect condition. new bikes can be damn expensive (especially the 1000, which is also an expensive bike to insure). dont forget that parts are damn expensive too ( i dropped mine, repairs were outrageous). not sure where you are located, but like here in MI where there is an off season, you can find good deals in the winter and early spring.
  8. I dont have much info on the brands of carbs, I would recommend definately going larger than stock though. Also the TORS.... The bike should run the same either way. Benefits of removing it are: removes clutter for easier work on carbs, weight (If your counting it), one less possible problem down the line (if the TORS fails, you wont be riding)..............yada yada
  9. PHEW! i was a lil bit scared and pissed for a min. I was pretty sure that i read it right. thanks for the info, now i dont have to worry all day at work. and thanks to 2stroker for the topic, perfect timing bro. even though ive already started the bike up oh yeah....... and what is all that business in the wiseco instructions about drilling holes into the pistons?? something about an exhaust bridge? call me stupid but, i dont know what they are talking about
  10. I just put my topend back together yesterday, i am pretty sure that the info that came from wiseco said that the rings do not have a set orientation. now i am second guessing myself........
  11. As everyone else says/agrees, they are no fun putting on. But other than that, I have no complaints.
  12. ya, what he said.
  13. Put one in my bike. it was from Vito's. Had a small dyno chart in the package claiming 1-2HP gain pretty much across the board. I put it in along with other mods so i cant describe the difference that only the key would give. .02
  14. got a reply! good deal. at least there will be a few people there! its too early for plans now, but when i find where we are staying, and the number going, ill post it. Ill be sure to get some tape up on the flags too. Later.
  15. No real favorite part of working on it, suppose its because nothing compares to riding it. working on it does give me something to do in the winter though. My garage has a fridge, a bar with stools, cable TV, woodstove, and bathroom (actually a hose that runs out the back, but it is complete with a sheet hung up for privacy, lights, and "medicine" cabinet w/mirror) I really have no problem hanging out in my garage whether i am working on something or just chillin.
  16. Hey guys, I have a group planning a trip to the sand dunes the weekend of Oct. 22-24. Not sure of the head count yet (est. 5-10 bikes, and a few trucks). The dunes close for the year on Halloween, so this will be the last trip of the year. It may be a lil cooler, but it should be fun anyways. Just thought i would throw it out there, if anyone else is going to be there, put up some info in here. later, mike
  17. my stock head had dings in one side. found out that it was from pieces of the top ring.
  18. xt45...........you gettin all this? well if i'm racing, especially draggin in the dunes....i pretty much have the throttle pinned the whole time. like what rj said, you will feel when it is time to shift. as far as the clutch goes, i dont always use it. if i do when im racing, its just a slight pull and i let it flip right back out (talking split seconds here) the key is to learn how to ride, and learn your bike. all bikes will be tuned differently, and all will respond/feel/and sound different. once you know yours and have plenty of confidence and skills built up, shifting will become second nature and you wont even have to think about it. good luck.
  19. My PC's MAN!!!!!!!
  20. One more vote for pipes, you will not regret it!
  21. That sounds like a hell of an idea!! Where are you leaving from? How many quads can go? How many spots left? How much $$$$??? Throw some details up, I am seriously interested and could probably get quite a few peeps together to go!
  22. yes therail, he is. he is a fat ass rammer.
  23. When I had my bike, I would get up in the 120's with my girl on the back. Fastest i ever went alone was 139. and that was on a 600, but 204 mph! I cant imagine what that would be like, if possible at all.
  24. I have K&N's for stock carbs and new outerwears for sale.
