  3. Muscle all the way. I was at the 1/8th mile drag strip the other day, and I didn't see one import car there. It was great. I did see a grand national there though. I guess that car is somewhere in between rice and muscle. You can't get the front wheels off the ground if you are running front wheel drive. There is nothing worse than a front wheel drive burnout IMO. Modding an import is like modding a blaster. They can be made to be pretty quick, but they are no match for a larger displacement motor with the same amount of money put into them.

  6. I went to the maier website to see what the plastics would look like on a banshee. It is FUGLY. scroll down till you see custom banshee fender
  7. you have to take off the flywheel, stator, timing plate, clutch assembly, and one little clip near the clutch assembly. then you are good to go.
  8. Does no one know the port timing on their ported motor? I am kinda interested in this topic as well.
  9. I'll post my exhaust and transfer durations when I get my cylinders back. They will be ready by sometime next week. I told the guy that I pretty much wanted an agressive play port. He said that he would get me in the 60hp ballpark range. I got a degree wheel sitting in the garage somewhere.

  11. You can replace the crank seals without taking off the top end. I just did it about a week ago. just flip the motor upside down and pull the bottom case away from the upper case and cylinders.
  12. the bad thing about the 450 is that it wastes 2 strokes too many, yamaha didn't put the yz250 motor in the yfz450 frame, and it aint got no expansion chamber. I am a tad biased though.

  15. you will probably have to get it resleeved locally with only a weeks time on your hands. the turn around time from most major performance shops is around two weeks.
  16. you could probably part it out in the for sale section and get more than what you bought it for, or you could list your problems and maybe a few guys could help you get it running right. Stick with the two strokes though. Don't let your money support four strokes. If anything, just buy a new banshee if you are fed up with the one you got.
  17. you could lower the front some. but I guess that would take away from the sleeper appereance.
  18. We only get to run 1/8th mile passes around here too, but when you are at the lights about to launch, the end of the track looks a long way away. I am having problems launching my bike, keeping the front end down, and not hitting nuetral between my first and second gear shifts. I guess I need some rz forks and a modified shit star. With pipes only and dirt tires, I ran a 8.83@73mph. Of course, that was with a good launch and no missed shifts. The fastest thing there was a turbo crotch rocket that ran a 5.38@130mph I think. The fastest car was a sick 5.0 with a big shot of nitrous. It ran a 5.5@122mph. Fastest banshee that I got to see run ran a 7.2@88mph. It was loud as hell. When I get my cylinders back, I want to run in the 8.3-8.5 range.
  19. have you tried to sync the carbs? how do your plugs look? I recently replaced an oil seal for my banshee, but it didn't have the syptoms that you are describing. My shee would just foul plugs after every ride. If you do end up tearing it down, do a leakdown test on it.

  21. that sounds about like my first trip to little sahara oklahoma. I didn't have any chicks next door though. I ended up crashing the first 30 mins there. eight stitches later, it was dark. got a tierod from jims sand toys and rode the whole next day. at dusk, I took part in a few drag races. little did I know that my lower rod bearing was going to hell. it got so hot in there that the rod actually started to bend. Luckily, the motor started running like crap and it just died on me. I nearly melted a piston I later found out. I guess I was luckier than you though. unless you would rather have a blown up banshee than a scar for life under your lip.
  22. a stock blaster could run an 1/8th mile that fast. your shee is majorly fucked up. seriously take a compression test. does it start easy? have you jetted it?
