well.... i received the replacement pedals. but they sent me the wrong ones. looked over the petals since i had them off. i couldn't see anything wrong with them. they looked fine to me. i cleaned them off (weren't really dirty at all) and re-installed them. but... i flipped the petals the over. put everything back together and the bike runs fine. i don't get it.

all i did was swap the reeds. you're telling me its weird. just looking at them, i couldn't see any difference between them. i just don't get it. i orderd a set of replacement petals. so.. we'll see how that goes. i'll keep ya updated. :geek:

i haven't pulled the petals off yet. but... they're not noticeablly worn at all. they look pretty much the same as the petals on the other reed.

found the problem!!!!! i pulled the reeds. they looked good but i cleaned them and hit'em with light compressed air. put them back in but swapped them. the right to the left and vice versa. sure enough... the right cylinder runs fine and the left one doesn't. weird that i've installed them only less than a year ago and one already went bad. oh well...

yep.. when i pulled the carb again there was gas in the bowl.

alright... i got a carb rebuild kit and replaced the float valve. no more leaking fuel but the right side still isn't firing. i pulled the plug and it was dry. so, it's not getting fuel. i pulled the carb and replaced the pilot jet. still nothing. tonight i'm gonna check the reeds. if nothing stands out, i'm gonna swap them and see if the problem moves to the left cylinder. if not.. i'll try swapping the carbs. i've haven't looked yet, but can the choke assembly be moved over to the right carb? haven't checked to see if the carb is threaded.

screamingthrottle... did you find what was wrong? think i'm having the same exact problem. right side isn't firing. cleaned the carb and replaced the pilot jet. pulled the plug and it was dry. so.. for some reason its not getting fuel. haven't checked the reeds yet. if those are fine, what else could it be?

anyone have any insight? i was thinking maybe the float valve isn't closing all the way so fuel is just being continuously pumped into the carb. that must be what's causing the leaking from the upper overflow tubes. but... if the fuel is constantly flowing into the carb, it must be flooding the cylinder. in turn... that's what would cause the right cylinder to not fire right. way too much fuel so it won't fire properly. am i on the right track?

got a bit of a problem. the right side carb was pissing out gas out of the upper overflow tubes. i took the carb bowl off and cleaned it. if i turn the carb upside down, the floats sit fairly level. put the carb back together and now the right side isn't running right. it sounds like its trying to fire but it won't. ever 2-3 seconds it'll let out a popping sound with a puff of smoke (thicker than the left side). what the hell could it be? i tried a few different (new) plugs. compression tests shows 140 psi on that cylinder. tonight i'm gonna try swapping the plug wire caps to see if that helps. can i cross the wires? wasn't sure if that would mess up the timing. i haven't ran it since november and it ran perfect then. i ordered two carb rebuild kits (might as well do both). any other troubleshooting tips that i can try? i did a search and found a couple threads where people were having similiar issues. but... the thread starters never updated if or what fixed the problem.
