So called Assult Weapon ban over!
roosthrower replied to rebelbanshee2's topic in General Banshee Discussion
hey banshee370 I sent you a pm the other day and I was wondering if you got it. -
I don't really know if that is such a good idea. We'll probably pick up 100 more dumbass newbs this month. I guess it's cool though as long as they are here to learn and keep dumb coments to themselves.

take the silencers off or take the packing and core out of the silencer.
-
a compression test would tell you what you need to know.

from what I have seen and heard, the rockets come on a tad quicker than the cpi's and shearers, but they also sign off quicker. Shearer's carry the more rpm than the cpi's and made more power on a dyno I saw on planetsand. It all depends on what you want. All three sets of pipes will perform better than your average pipes on a ported motor. I'd go with whatever I could get the best deal on.

got in a fight with the old lady
roosthrower replied to loganskinner's topic in General Banshee Discussion
damn holyman. how many times have you been down that road? -
jetting by exhaust gas temperatures is a good way to jet an engine. it's not as common as looking at the spark plugs though simply because it is more in depth than just taking off a set of plugs. I'll try to get back to you with some good exhaust gas temps for a gas motor. And I payed 200 plus tax for my port job. The cost of boreing a cylinder from the same guy is 50 a hole. I'm sure you can get some port work done for $200.

ordered my new 35's today

what kind of times did you run? and how long is your banshee? -
what times should i expect on the 1/8th?
roosthrower replied to sycoticbanshee00's topic in Drag Forum
probably in the mid 9's. the best way to launch a stock length banshee is to sit on the tank and dump the clutch in first. don't do a burnout or anything either before you line up. you will be getting more than enough traction. -
180 exhaust duration is about what a banshee has stock. when you start getting into the mid-higher 190's you can kiss your low end goodbye. I'd call anything over 195 degrees a drag port. I'd say let him port it, but don't let him go too crazy on the width of the exhaust port either. on an exhaust port that doesn't have a bridge, you aren't supposed to go any wider than 70% of the bore of the cylinder. anything wider than that and you will start snagging rings on the exhaust port. definitly let him get rid of the casting flaws. I'm sure he will do a good job though. Basic porting is universal.

the point is that your banshee wouldn't ever see 11,000rpm in 5th gear let alone 6th. you don't have the port timing, or the pipes to pull 11,000 rpm and running 18cc domes is only hurting your banshees ability to rev. everything is working against you here. a speed calculator can't factor in wind resistance or people lying about the rpm they are pulling. woot woot roosthrower scores with hard facts.

from what I understand, static compression changes with altitude while compression ratio doesn't. To find the compression ratio on a two stroke, you have to find the volume of the cylinder after the exhaust port closes and divide that by the volume of the combustion chamber with the piston at tdc. and also from what I can gather, static compression has little to do with preignition because a running banshee motor puts out somewhere above 1000 psi with combustion taking place. This number will get higher when the motor is on the pipe as well. (pipe sonic wave forces extra gas into the cylinder before the exhaust port is covered) It's all about the dynamic compression.

If you are really 14, than my congrats to you. Hell you must only be a freshmen in high school and you know more stuff about banshees than 75% of us. Or is the whole 14 thing just a cover up thing cause your like over 50 or something. If you are over 50 I don't think it matters cause anyone that contributes to this site as much as you do doesn't need to lie about age.

putting on a good fight at atvconection
roosthrower replied to roosthrower's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have officially given up on that site. You might see a post or two from me every now and then, but between the race ready blasters, 300ex's, and the piped z400's that run with ported banshees, it's a wonder the site isn't 100% preteen kids. Like I said earlier in this thread, half the banshee guys over there wouldn't be able to tell you how a bike with 200 degrees exhaust duration would run compared to a bike with 180 degrees. -
If you can afford it, go aftermarket. The ball joints are not replaceable and I have lost a ball joint also and it did suck. I nearly went over the bars after landing a small jump after my lower left ball joint gave. I had to stand on the opposite side nerf bar to ride it home. It was a long drive back.

the deepest sounding pipes I have ever heard are old fmf gold series pipes. they are thicker than most other pipes and they definetly sound different.
-
obviously planetsand. that is where the builders hang out and I feel privleged (sp?) just to read what they have to say. texasatvs is another hang out spot for the locals. dunereview.com and 14mins.com wrap things up for me.
-
The only thing I like about the 13 I ran was the super low first gear. with the 13 on, first through third are way too short for any sort of drag racing and you are going to spend more time shifting than moving foward. I'd recommed the stock 14 on a piped banshee and my banshee with some port work really likes the 15.

anyone know how much hp fords 4.6 has?
roosthrower replied to nickxc's topic in General Banshee Discussion
gt40 biatch. I believe the 5.4 it uses is good for over 500hp. not really in the same class as the corvette but hey the 4.6 ford really isn't in the same class as a corvette either. comparing a 4.6 to a 5.7 is kinda stupid. you know what? screw all of these v8's. I want a viper. -
no problem with me. there aren't my dynos.
-
I posted a couple dynos in this thread. check them out. fatties v.s shearers v.s cpis, v.s t5's v.s tr6's. notice the rpm the drag pipes pull on the others.

jetting for port job and cpi
roosthrower replied to bluebanshee96's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I have found that ported stock displacement banshees tend to loose some power before they get on the pipe after a port job. I guess it is due to the slowed down intake charge that generally is associated with larger ports and the fact that you loose some of your effective power stroke when the exhaust port is raised. How do the plugs look? Have you done a wide open plug chop? Do a plug chop before you do anymore riding on it. Basically you almost have to change you style of riding. What I am trying to say is, ride it the way it's supposed to be ridden and you wont have a bogging problem cause you never the the revs below the pipe. What I do though when I'm putting around though in the low revs is I try to not crack the throttle wide open. I find that it pulls harder with a limited amount of air/fuel mixture getting to the motor than when I just let it suck down all it can. Roll on the throttle slower or just grab a handful of clutch with the throttle wide open when your below the pipe. Hope this helps. -
anyone know how much hp fords 4.6 has?
roosthrower replied to nickxc's topic in General Banshee Discussion
302 all the way, but stock for stock the 4.6's are a higher output motor. with that being said, modified 5.0's kick ass and wont be touched by the 4.6's. Ford needs to bring back the 5.0 and put it in a small car. A car the size of a focus with a 302 in it would kick ass. -
right now the best I can manage is a 2.02. That was out of three runs I got in before my masterlink gave. The strip hooks really hard. When walking on it, it reminds me off walking on a tile floor with syrup spilled on it. Pretty damn sticky. Anyway that 2.02 when I had the front end off the ground all the way through first and when I shifted to second it came up hard enough to where I had to let off the throttle. What kinda of times do you think a ported 350 should pull being stock length? I was running 15/41 at the time.

20 different answer to one question
roosthrower replied to stamps96's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
is the choke tube connected? sometimes it's the most simple of things.
