  1. I didnt have any luck with the cheapies. Im not stock tho either. I have a Trinity or a Toomey in mine currently. good clutch.
  2. possible you bent your brake rotor? possible your hearing your caliper rubbing or banging on it. mine rubs pretty loud. but if its bent will give off a banging or clacking noise. also check your bolt that holds on your swingarm. bearings could be bad and thats what your hearing. but it only makes noise when turning right? which means its putting pressure on the left side rear? could be your chain too. is it clickin on your sprocket? if your chain is too tight it will give off a clicking sound too.
  3. albaaction.com will hook you up with a full set of stickers and kits. give um a look up.
  4. Bel Ray FOREVA. buy it in bulk straight from Bel-Ray. I use their 80w tranny oil, H1R synthetic mix and dot 4 brake fluid. good stuff. my banshee is a 97 and Ive rebuilt the top end once three years ago. Shee was 1 thousandth out from stock specs so I put in a 1 over piston and rings. never replaced the rings before that, and shee still has 120psi per cylinder. my mechanic told me not to change a thing.
  5. Ive tried the same.....TCS is what I have on my banshee. I used to have Works. And I have Elka's on my 450r. Anything is going to be an upgrade from stock shocks. In fact I didnt even do any adjusting on my first pair of aftermarkets cuz they were so awesome compared to my stock's. I put a generic set of +2 Works with resi's on first. they were the sheet. and cheap too. then I upgraded to TCS. I wasnt that impressed with TCS's service and customer support...heck ... with I wasnt impressed with their rider support program either. they I got my hands on a set of Elka's. have to say that these are the best to date. I have them tuned killer and they work AWESOME. My next set of shocks for my next stock bike will be WORKS. just cant beat the price and the shocks are killer. great shock for the money. ELKA's if you have the change. Ive also read great things about PEP's. never heard anything negative about them. but I havnt riden on them. I Race. Used to race MX and XC. Now pretty much just desert. But I dune and trail ride here in nor cal on all these shocks. Elka's take lots of adjusting before they are set up right....but the works are pretty much plug and play. i just dont want peps spending lots of money on shocks they cant set up to begin with. would be just a waste of money.
  6. ALSO...on a serious note. you can replace the steering stem bearing....and loosen the clamp on the stem. also....you could get a steering dampner/stabilizer and that help's alot too. I put a GPR on mine....and it took away all my arm pump.
  7. janssen sells an enclosed Heim. awesome setup. and your heims wont come apart while your riding anymore. just ask me how bad that sux. lol.
  8. little history. the other day I posted some stuff in regards to this problem. so...in the middle of a desert race the shee started to loose power....then bogged out and stopped. got her home and took off the air filter. and low and behold two reeds broke off and one of them a V-Force Reed was lodged in the carb holding the slide wide open. (never found the other reed) After shee sat for 5 months, I replaced the cages and reeds with V-Force 3's. replaced the gas in her, replaced the spark plugs and fired her up. shee ran for about 100 yards and then I heard a loud puff...kinda like pressure release....I was slowing down and downshifting to flip a bitch when it happened...so I heard it pretty good. then I gassed it and shee started poping or puffing and sputtering. got her home...checked all connections, hoses, changed fuel filter, put in new plugs and verified that the slides were in right. fired her back up and still the same. as shee is sitting there warming up the right side (same side reeds blew out on) gets real hot while the left is still pretty cool ... if not cold. then if you give it a little throttle....the left side blows a steady stream of smoke and the right side sputters and puffs or backfires plumes of smoke. the more you gas it the worse it gets. again...shee was running great before this happened and according to vforce no jetting should take place. so I dont think its a jetting issue. i went ahead and took off the carbs and cleaned them out real good...replaced them and same deal. ANY IDEAS? im all out. Im thinking the other reed went out the exhaust. what if anything could that have hurt. maybe its still in there...maybe its blocking something. Im at a loss...no idea. HELP!
  9. i bought +2's for my front end. and they too were way too long. I had to put a loop in them and later rerouted them. I felt I could have ordered stock length galfer's for the front end and would have been fine. get +1's to be safe.
  10. oh great now im really confused. lol. on the backfiring thing. Is there a difference between a backfire and a poping. I want to record my quad running and get it on here for the pro's to listen to. carb's never have been my strong suit. i was noticing yesterday .. .that my left plug is half black and half milky...and the right plug is black as black gets. thats why I was lookin at the carb sync. I guess I could have an air leak too. weird that sitting for a few months would do this. I thought it was the V-force 3's. but im starting to doubt that. I still have my stock stator. changing it out wont be an issue. jsut have to take her apart again. thanks for the help bro.
  11. ive been reading a ton on sync'n. from what I gather its that little nut on top of the caps. Im going to do mine tonight. I hope thats it.
  12. i read about that slide issue. I will check them tonight when I get home, to verify that they arent backwards.. they should be right. I always take them off one at a time to keep them straight...but ya never know. also....rs stator....ricky stator stator. well known stator. i brought up the +4 advance, cuz I read where some people advanced it too much and got backfiring and so forth.
  13. three part question. any chance carb's outta sync would cause this reaction? I know my right one is just a pubic hair before the left. You can see the white in the one window and not the other...a little more throttle and the line is at the top of the right carb window and the left is at the bottom of the window. is that accurate enough...or should I sync them. second question....how do I raise and lower the slides to sync them? no tors...just caps on top carbs. third question...if my needle is the problem....which way do I move the needle to lean her out. reading all the threads on here...Im thinking Im too rich. which is causing the bogging, sputtering, and backfiring. move them up or down? im thinking moving them up will richen the carb mixture...and moving it down will lean the mixture.
  14. In the desert shee is the fastest around. I would pass 4 strokes in 6th gear on straightaways....but they would always catch up in the rocky sections and turns. same with MX. kicks ass when your on the throttle. nothing can touch it. but once you get into tight turns the 4 pokes would pass me by. I have never taken worse than a 3rd place finish. been racing 5 years. Also with the 5.6 gallon tank I would pass peps in their pits. I loved the distance that tank can take me. over 100 miles.....Id always fill up round the 90 mile markers. Also....i stoped racing her cuz its just too tiring compared to the 450r. the banshee is a rocket. constant pull on my arms and body would tire me out. specially on the track. cuz it has such thrust. now on my 4 poke I can race all day. well almost...hehe. but really, the power ban is spread over the whole gear versus....wham power....like the banshee.. Also...the turning. with newer bikes your looking at todays geometry. versus a banshee's ... which is what? 1986 geometry. so with the new 4 poke I can ride longer, with less body fatigue, and with this thing built by ALBA and Honda....it keeps up if not passes every quad out there. no porting or polishing on either vehicle. the 450r was Wayne Matlock's '06 vegas to reno bike. He is honda's pro rider. It was built by honda's guys and pimped out by ALBA. wayne and a guy from honda dialed in the suspension and I have to say its the most plush ive ever riden. NO BODY ROLL. It was put in ALBA's showroom right after he took 1st place in that race. just waiting for meh. lol I picked it up with all the trimmings at a great deal. its a smokin ride. after riding my shee for so long... I couldnt go to a stock bike. the 4 stroke I got had to be off the charts...and this bad boy is just that. ive had 2 races on her so far....I took 2nd in my first race and 1st in my second race. vegas to reno is in a month and were entering it. fingers crossed for another first place finish.
  15. i usually have to tap them pretty hard sometimes with a hammer to get them out. they sticky. new gaskets come with new reeds. they are cheap from Yamaha too.
