  1. dlnoss, do you know the elevation for michigan??
  2. Im in the same boat, shouldnt do this that quickly. You prolly blew your head gasket, check your impeller to see if it is moving with the kickstarter. If so, check out your head gasket.
  3. OK so i think i narrowed my overheat problem to a blown head gasket, the peoblem is that im 100 over, (66.5mm i think). I want to get a cool head, but domes only run to 80 over. Soi need a head gasket until i blow these cylenders and just get a new head and cylenders. Anyone know where to get one??
  4. CDI , that fixed me up in that same situation, try it if u can get one for cheap. Even if its not the problem, they r good to have around.. In my situation, i just fnished my full rebuild of the bike, ran it for a couple hours, go to start it in a trail and nothing, no spark. Replaced my cdi with an old ass one that worked and i havent had a prob since. Test your Stator with an Ohmeter and check the readings . Search for a post on this, youll find the right readings to compare, good luck man...
  5. My buddy gets about 14mpg in his, its power programmed with a 40 series flowmaster. I guess the 8.1's can get the same gas mileage as the 6.0. Hace you heard of the gear bender?? i guess you can get like 25 mpg with it. It adds a few gears to your tranny for a few grand. Worth the investment with gas prices.... My 2 cents... In my 94 2wd 1500 with a 350, im gettin about 21 mpg on the highway. and like 19 in the city, i cant believe it.
  6. seems like a solid company with some good products, id for sure give it a try!!
  7. could be your head gasket, i think thats why I am overheating. Is your coolant hot, steamy and overflowing??? Head gasket could be the answer. And if you ran it for too long like that, you just keep adding to the heat, seizing the pistons.
  8. yea, the head gasket steams around it, and fluis is also steaming, looks liek pressure is going into water side. I think the head gasket is the aswer too, now i just have to find one for 100 over cylenders. Thanks RNBRAD
  9. so i think i might of blew the head gasket, im at 100 over, and from what i hear, missing a gear can be hell for a head gasket(which ive done a few times). Anyone agree or am i shootin at the wrong bird here??
  10. hey rick, yea what the hell happened, i looked for ya all the time at valdu! ohh well. I have a piuc of the dildo fest, ill post pics soon. Ohh rick, that first day was the only day i rode, i overheated badly at the end of theday, and every 5 minutes after that. I think i blew a head gasket , what do you think? impeller is fine, hoses are fee flowing, i dont knwo what the hell. talk to ya later
  11. yea, thats what it seems. But i dont know what causes a radiator to go bad besides it cracking and leaking. My impeller works fine too. Seems to be a lot of pressure built up. When i take to top off the overflow, pressure releases at it was steaming. I dont knwo whether to buy a radiator or what.
  12. for the first question, my head has been milled .20 to make up for the 100 over. Before my recent rebuild the squish area was too small and i was getting a little piston slap. So that area is good. For the second question, Fluid is coming from the cap when i take it off intentionally. When running , coolant shouldnt want to come out of the cap I thought,. It seems like the system is building huge pressure and throwing it out of the overflow.
  13. Well you can see my mods in my Signature, i am 100 over which runs hot as it is. My head gasket has been ran for about 2hrs total. I flushed the system for flow and it seemed fine. The radiator is obviously the original but it doesnt leak or anything. There were no signs besides noticing i was overheated one time. I flushed it and refilled the system only to overheat immediately again. If someone can brush me up on the cooling system that would be great, im still not an expert in this area, thanks! Remember coolant immediately started to flow out of the top of the radiator(cap off) as soon as i started to run it.
  14. In MI we were at around $3.50 for shitty unleaded before labor day weekend. About 3.70 for premium.

    Radiator

Lookin for a radiator in great shape. Would like oversized aftermarket.
  16. Well Valdu just keeps getting better every year. Nothing like a lesbo fest in the middle of a wet-tshirt contest. Ohh and ya cant beat bringin all your own busch light into the bikini bar! haha i hope whoever else was there got to see the shit i did, i hope to have pics up later today!!!!
  17. OK I cant get out of silver lake without breaking my shit some how. OK, i get off the shee like 30 mins after the first ride. Its hot as hell, with coolant boiling in the overflow. I purged the system by blowing into the top of the radiator, until all the fluid was out of the head. It semed to blow through fine. Impleller looks aftermarket and it works (first time dealing with cooling system). Started it without the radiator cap and coolant timmediately starts flowing through the top. Its not boiling, its just flowing. It looks like the coolant is in the bike, but its not going anywhere. I also found a litlle gummy piece sitting in the radiator, looks like the stuff you pour in to fix cracks. Any input on this would me great thanks
  18. They bend as easy as a wet noodle. I have them I know. Other than that they are great, I like to keep the original old school look so i keep em.
