  9. got a prodesign plate and foam filter.decent shape,with the foam pre filter lookin for k&n pods with outer wears for stock or 28 mill carbs let me know,scott

  11. you deffanately have a head gasket leak.heli-coil the threads and you should be good to go
  12. dont quote me on this but i just had my basket all apart and dont remember seeing any o-ring like your describing.maybe it was laying were you found it and thought it fell out of your engine?
  13. not hard at all to pull the cases apart.i broke my cherry on them last month and i only fouled up one thing.theres a retainer plate thats bolted to the upper and lower cases,and hidden behind the cltch basket.i tryed to split the cases without pulling the basket off.had to order the new plate.basicly you have to pull the flywheel,clutch basket and your pretty much home free.dont know if you have a clymers book or any mechanical experiance but i give it a 6 out of 10 being hardest for difficulty.mind you ive been building 400 horse v-8's for 15 years now.if you have any doughts that you got some shavings in your crank,for 50$ dollars in seals and gaskets i would split them.also it wouldnt hurt to check out for any thing thats worn out wile your in there.you might be glad you did.as for cleaner just use some some engine degreaser and after rinsing the tranny gears off give them a shot of wd-40 so they dont surface rust.
  14. i would split the cases,not only for peice of mind but when was the last time new seals were installed?
  15. your jetting sounds close for sea level,i ran pretty much the same jetting last year with fattys and rad valves.it could be like you said the guy you bought it from jerked you off.the different comp.#'s could be one cylinder went south,happens often,or you goofed on the comp. test.did you use the hand held kind you stick in the spark plug hole,or the kind you thread in?the first type is a bitch with out an extra set of hands.
  16. well what are your mods and your jetting?when you checked your compression did you hold the throttle wide open?if not try it again and make sure you turn the kill switch off.
  17. have you pulled the plugs to see what they look like?pinging is not a good sign.possible dentonation due to being lean or a piston broke and was banging around.
  18. that will work or do like i did and make a holding tool,like motion pro sells.i made one with 1" steel strapping bent at a 90'degree angle and welded 2 of them on a pair of vice grips.works ok for me

  24. thats not right.you may have an air leak.get it running and spray some carb cleaner anround the intake boots and see if the idle hanges.i see in you sig k+n no lid have you rejetted?it sounds lean to me,how do your plugs look?do you have a clymers book,if not BUY ONE.there a must have
