unthread the nut and clean the threads on both the nut and ball joint.put the ball joint back in the tapered hole and give it a good squeeze down with a pair of channel locks.doing that will make in snug in the tapered hole and it should turn down all the way.

i would check for any burs on the slide.if anything take some 300-400 grit sandpaer and some wd-40 and sand it up a bit to smooth it out.it should work after that
