one thing I've found out with riding a dirt bike on the sadn is that you will also want to let a little bit of air out of the front tire, helps with turning, and you stay on top of the sand..

I was talking with a guy about my banshee explaining that It had a 4mm longrod kit in it when I bought it. He was then asking me if the cylinders had been machined down to get the full benefit of the 4mm londerods with the blaster pistons. He said that the cylinders should be machined down about 40 thousandths ( can't remember the decimal equvalent) off of the bottom to achieve the full stroke of the piston and that it would probably bump up my compression by about 15-20 LBS. Is this correct, has anyone heard of this. I need to have some engine work done since I blew a hole in the top of my left piston, and I would like to atleast sound Like I know what I am talking about. any info would be greatly appreciated...

I prefer riding at Winchester Bay. ya you can't ride on the beach, but you can only do 25 mph on the beach anyway. Trust me I almost got a ticket for riding 6th gear w.f.o. Someone has cut a new spur off of Banshee hill. It's still pretty wicked, alot of roots, and a couple of trees the lean into the trail. I was going to attempt it last weekend when my engine gave way. If I can get things back together, maybe I will try to head over to meet a few of you. Have a safe ride ..........

What is the advantage of going to the round style carrier. The only reason that I have heard is because of ease of adjusting the chain tension. Thanks

I just got my trailtech a few months ago, and I love it. I also use it to gauge how far I can travel on a tank of fuel. I know that it's an exact measure for how far I can go on a tank, but it's nice to know when to start looking. As for GPS, A friend of mine just got a pair of Garmin Rhino's, and their totally awesome. Somehow you can prograqm the others persons info into it and then you can track it. He takes his it out on the dunes when he rides alone, so his wife could locate him if he were to get hurt, and they also have a 2-way radio built in. Guess I need to add another gadget to my collection..... Here's some more info http://www.garmin.com/products/rino120/

well, I didn't get to make it over to Dune Fest like I had hoped. Didn't get there until around 4 saturday afternoon, just as they were getting ready to do the final run. my riding budies were being cheap so we just headed up to Florence to ride for the evening. Headed down to winchester on Sunday morning, to watch everyone digging their rigs out of the sand. Call me paranoid, but I am just to chicken to pull my 33' toy hauler out on the sand. Last time I weighed in, I was just at 21k lbs on both truck and trailer. Oh well, it was still fun watching these guys hook 2/3 trucks together and form a conga line of pull vehicles to get a buddy out. The worst part of the day was after about my 4th run up banshee hill, I had the nerve to try the new trail that someone cut-in just to the left of it. Well as I was making my run at the bottom of the hill, my shee just went POP and then just gurggled after that. I got to looking and I think i blew a whole in the left cylinder. I won't know for sure until I get her torn down and can look her over. I'll try to post some pics of what I find... Later, Dan

God, or no god(not trying to offend ne one)
dnhyoung replied to sweetshee4312's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I personally am undecided if there is a god or not. I do not attend any organized religion, but like some one else said if my kid is really sick or I am in a bad situation, you can guess who i am praying to. I personaly think that if there is someones sitting up in the clouds with some almighty wand that could fix all of the murders and plagues and abuse of innocent children and people in general he has to be a tewisted individual, but then again maybe it's just like the 12 year old frying ants on the sidewalk with a magnifying glass.............. I definitely agree with the Karma Idea -
If I need to leave my quad unattended, I just pull out the clip on the tether kill switch, then I can clip on my jacket/pants. Of course there always the times when I'm in a hurry and jump on and ty to kick it over until i realize I forgot to put the kill switch back in place...

Whay kind of bike are you looking for. I have an '00 xr 650r that I have been thinking about letting go. It's in awesome shape, and I also have a complete spare rear hub set-up for sand

no you don't need a key switch to instal the key switch. If your key switch is removed, then you can just tie it to tho se 2 wires if i am remembering correctly, but t he whiskey sours aren't helping...

holyman has an awesome fix for that rattling kick starter. he fixed mine a cfew months ago, and I almost miss that annoying rattle while sitting there at an idle. NOT!!!!!

This last winter I was running around with my haulers on the rear and my mohawks on the front. 1000% better than just nobbies. I got a few strange comments in the staging area but out on the snow, people were impressed. I do have one suggestion, watch out for the runner mark left by theskis on the sleds, they would occassionally grab, and throw you around a bit.

Enjoy the sand camping because this is probably going to be the last year for it. I was at Driftwood II this past weekend, and the sand campers left it an absolute dump. i am not implying that you do this, I am just saying that it's the few that ruin for the rest of us. I did speak with a commisioner for douglas county and I guess some new paved campgrounds are in the works to allow for the loss of sand camping at Winchester Bay. Let me know what your rigs look like, and I will swing by and introduce myself

It sounds like you aren't using the bracket for the front pipe support. If you didn't use this the hanger alignment would be off about 3 inches or so. You should have a bracket that mounts to the frame, and then mounts to the pipe and it has about 3/8" of offset in it. Do you have the correct size of springs? If this kit is new from toomey, I wouild think they sent you the correct springs. I know I had some problems with aftermarket springs on getting the correct length.

I was just curious who's going to be attending dune fest at winchester the end of the month http://www.dunefest.com I'll be there Friday and Saturday

both my brother and I have used golden spectro for years, with out any problems. He just rebuilt his top end after 2 years of hard riding, and other than lack of compression, everything looked in good shape. Plus the fact that my buddies won't try to mooch my fuel since it isn't some top shelf oil.

I had a buddy that had his ear and his lip pierced, one day he got in a fight, the other guy just used them as something to hang on to. Now he doesn't have the one in his ear due to it being torn out, and he chose to remove the other from his lip. As for the girls, I agree the belly piercing is very sexy, as long as it doesn't look like she could tow a trailer with it....

I agree with boonman, Tandems pull much better. And whatever you do, don't use an torsion axle with a tandem set-up, Because both axles are working independently, and the ride is horrible. Consider what you are going to haul, and then the weight of the trailer plus any size load. I don't think that the drag created by tandems when making a turn should realy be a factor, unless you are going with a multiple axle set-up(3 or more)such as a semi trailer.

does it really make your bike rev that much quicker??
