  1. Did you try a 52, how about a 48? I don't know why you'd be way too lean with a motofast pipe and a 55 pilot, hell, I was on a 52 with my portwork and I was richer than most peeps there. Just relax and have patience, we'll get it.
  2. CarbParts.com That' a good place to anything carb related. I'd call em on the phone and discuss what you need with them. In regards to Sat., don't think I'm gonna be able to make it. There's a slight chance, but think the wife has some things planned for Mother's Day.... She wants to do it Sat instead of Sun so we don't have to get up early the next day... We'll hook up somehow tho.
  3. I'm very interested. Too bad it's red, but I may deal with it. I'll get back to you soon!
  4. Could be caused by the fuel, the oil, or who knows. I agree with your comments, in regards to the color. I'd like to see the color a little bit darker. How did the ground strap look, before it was mutilated....
  5. hmmm, "really cheap" is so vague....
  6. With portwork, you'll probably need it, as the DEK can limit WOT flow. With my portwork, I ran a 200 main, 52 pilot and EEK in the 4th. Just for FYI, and like I said, all portwork is different. I have NO clue how the trinity work is done. Let us know what they say and where you end up. Later.
  7. Do I need to run a crossover tube or not? Basically, I'm figuring on just the carbs and new boots, would that be correct? Don't really see that I'd need much more than that. How is the fitment on there with the airbox or any mods needed to get correct fitment? I've got the VForce 2 reeds on there as well, if the spacing makes a difference.
  8. I have a single 34mm Flatslide that was given to me in part of a trade. I was thinking of getting another and running them with the Gorr port I have and then get rid of the PT's and run some Toomeys or Fatties or something. I was just wondering how you all like the Mikuni Flatslides and how easy they are to tune. Scott
  9. no, wait... me me... j/k
  10. I have some ceramic coated PT Mids / Fatboy silencers. I want some Toomeys or some Fatties (not Gnarlies) or maybe even some Pro Circuits and I'll consider whatever. Just hit me up with what you have and we'll see what works out. The pipes have some dings/small dents in them, but it does not hurt performance one bit. I bought them and they were rusted out. I had them sandblasted and refinished to what they are now. Also, the silencers that will be coming with the pipes don't have the turndowns, they're open straight out the back. Also, the pipes could be buffed to a near chrome finish, but I'm just way too lazy. Here's a pic of them tho.
  11. I have one Mikuni 34mm Flatslide and would like another for my new "project". Scott
  12. The porting is gonna be the big variable. Call trinity and ask them what other peeps have been running with the single carb and that porting.
  13. Yea, maybe try some 52's.
  14. do a search for plug chop, then go do one. you want to run a wot run with the throttle pegged in at least 5th gear for 3 or more seconds, 6th would be good to, then pull the clutch and kill it. coast to a stop and then pull the plugs and look at the color. a search will give you all the info you need. when you find out the color, get back to us and we'll tell you how it is.
  15. god damned hicks....
  16. does it help or hurt to start with choke? When you do get it started, does it idle better when the choke's pulled or does it die? Do you know what pilot is in there, stock I'm betting. You might have a compression problem as well. When have the plugs been checked last? Hard starting can be compression, reeds, jetting, plugs, electrical, so many things but answer those first few questions and we can help you more.
  17. well, the pilot is probably too big, but it isn't going to make or break the top end. Is it starting ok? I'd also say run a compression check and a WOT plug check if you haven't already. If he's ported at all, then he's gonna be making good power as long as he's got it jetted right.
  18. That is a fact... Jack!
  19. uuuh, no, I forgot. May 8th huh? I'll see.
  20. Use an inexpensive Denton style. You can get it with a discount from Noss Machine who is a site sponsor. That's where I got mine and I use it just fine for XC. The expensive ones are nice but not necessary and often extreme overkill. Scott
  21. he lives in upstate NY. I'd say 100 even for the swinger shipped.
  22. If it's an adjustable plate, set it to +4 and leave it alone. Put your clip in the very bottom position of the needle, so you lift the needle up higher and see how it runs. You can get an EEJ needle that will be identical except for the taper, it will be a tad steeper/richer taper and it'll let the main come on a little sooner and might help bring your midrange out some. Call www.carbparts.com to get it, and they're cheap, defnitely worth the little cost of trying out. Scott
  23. Yes, I have a stock one that's been professionally shortened, just needs painting. It'll make it more fun to ride on the track as well, guaranteed. Jumping will be easier, wheelies will be easier, and you'll come out of the hole quicker. Boonman used to lighten flywheels, don't know if he's gotten out of it or not. Might shoot him a PM and tell him I sent ya. Haven't talked to him in a little bit. There are a few other peeps on here that do it as well. I'll check around.
  24. the smaller swinger will bring the tires closer to your ass and put more weight on them, giving you more traction due to the added weight. It will want to wheelie a tad more, but it'll be alright. Move your gearing to 15/41 and start in second and you'll be doing good. The 15 front tooth will help with the spin and the wheeling, the 2nd gear start will get you out of the whole quicker and the swinger will keep you from spinning so much. The swinger is good for the trace because coming out of corners, you'll accelerate faster and spin less. Tire spin is a big downfall for the banshee.
