That's it! Everybody's idea of how to ride is different. The people that typically bad mouth 4 strokes are ones that like to drag on 70+ hp machines and that's about it. Some people like to "meander like a 10 year old", as I said before and I wasn't putting them down. That's great, at least they're out there having fun and I would never give some one a hard time for riding slow or fast or anything. The idea is we all have a similar hobby and we go about it differently and as long as we all have fun, then it's great. I've had a lot of people give me a hard time about getting a 4 stroke, and I know when they do it that they've 1) never been on one, 2) don't care about anything but how fast they can go in a short distance and 3) don't ride the way I do, but I just shrug it off knowing they have no clue how I ride or what I'm looking for in a machine. I once was against 4 strokes ( I was one of the ones who'd never been on one other than a 4x4) and I now realize how ignorant I was. So, whether your on a bone stock 300ex or a highly modified PV'ed banshee, it doesn't matter, what's important is that you respect the other riders, their machines and how they ride and at what level they ride. Peace out

I often ride a 4-stroke....

Send me a pic of the pipes. [email protected] Thanks, Scott

The PT's are going to sign off a little earlier, but, the it comes on so much earlier and faster and pulls so smooth that you can come out of corners much quicker and easier. It's also easier coming out of the hole. Just have to decide what kind of riding your doing. The PT's are awesome pipes, they just have their place, as do CPI's and Rockets.

never had a problem hooking up the trinity setup to a stock airbox. I usually mount the manifold with the rubber boot to the cylinders and put the carb and the airbox together then slide the airbox/carb into the rubber boot and bolt the airbox carb. You can just cut the front airbox mounts off if you want, it'll make it easier.

Let me hop on my horse real quick.... I hardly ever "trail ride". If I'm not racing, I'm out "training" for the next one, so I try to keep a good race pace wherever I'm at. Honestly, I get bored as fook meandering down the trails like a 10 year old. Now, I've been on rides with peeps, some racers, some not, where we're riding in a 6 or 7 person group through trails similar to xc courses (where I'd normally be riding race pace in for practice) and most of them are like, "man, we were flying through those trails". Well, that's when I'd say, "your only at 60% if you wanna keep up with anyone in a race." There's NO trail ride that compares to racing. Sure, a person can ride "fast trails" or whatever, but nothing, not even my "race pace" practice can compare to actual race conditions. And anyone that thinks they ride trail at a speed that would be competitive in race conditions are kidding themselves. Also, when most people are riding trail, they stop every 15 minutes to catch their breath, or grab a drink, or just bullshit. That don't happen in a race either. Sure, you can ride trails fast in a banshee, a 4stroke, a drag bike, whatever, but the tighter the powerband, and peakier the motor, the harder it'll be on you to maintain a fast speed. Hence, why 4 strokes are so easy, the smooth powerband. I have a banshee sitting in the shop and a 450r. I can easily ride my 450r through fast trails and race conditions faster and longer than I could my banshee, and my banshee was setup for it; single carb, PT mids, woods port and so on but it's still no match for the 4-stroke power. I use to believe the pros did it SOLELY because the mfg's gave them the machines, but I now know that is NOT the case. You hop on a well setup 4 stroke with good suspension and decent motor mods and you'll see what I'm talking about. Ok, I'll got off my horse, I must not be in a good mood this morning... hell, did I even answer your question?? don't remember what it is

I now resent that comment....

Sunoco is good sh!t. I like the 104 oxy blend, think it's GT Plus. Can't go wrong with that

Go for a 15 up front. You can do a search for gearing and find lots of long threads about this debate. The 15 will spread the gears, allow for more traction and make it more enjoyable to ride. Not to mention a little faster in the drags...

Broke's right. I guess I/we failed to either notice or take into account your rz jugs. I'd also try and find someone who's got some experience with those jugs in particular.

Thanks Ruko for your comments. Glad to see at least ONE person here is paying attention...

The PT's will probably be a jet size smaller.

Gorr port is great. I have it and it was a 2 week turnaround last fall. Scott

Ok, got my 2 34mm flatsides and I have a couple questions. First, I've heard about how they have a tendency to hit the clutch arm. Which manifold would be best for rasing them up enough for this to not be a problem. I've heard some sit the carb level where others will raise it up a tad, anyone know? I'm currently looking at the Pro Design and Trinity manifolds. Second, these carbs are not together. I have 2 single units. Should I get a lever to connect both chokes or not? What about getting the idle screws set right, just bump them in all the way in and then back them out even amounts so they're the same, that's what I figured on doing. Third, what about mating it up to the airbox. What kind of probs should I expect and what should I be buying/doing to remedy any issues. For most of you that know me know I'm experienced with the single carb and like it, but on the other hand, I know nuttin about aftmkt dual setups. Hell, I have half a mind to sell these two and get another one, but I'm gonna try to make the duals work to see how much better they work for the porting I have. Thanks peeps, Scott

Trinity works with stock airbox setup, no mods necessary. The Graydon requires you to move the airbox back and/or mod the box and stuff. Kind of a PITA from what I've heard. Some feel they have the same power output, but others say they feel the Graydon may have a slight bit more torque, don't really know and neither has been really tested. You can search for Graydon, 2-1, single carb, and any combination you can think of and will come up with LOADS of info. There was a big Graydon thread a while back, just do some tricky searching and you'll have plenty of info. Scott

Did you get my email...

You know what kind of mods he had??

2 cams, so it's a Yammi. My honda has a Honda Racing cam, Dr.D exhaust, Twin-air Powerflo filter setup, and a custom airbox. If that can't beat you then I don't need to, not saying it will or won't.

Alright, let's decide this now. I've heard plenty from both sides of the line whether you need a crossover tube or not. I'm going to be running dual 34mm Flatsides pretty soon on the old banshee. I'll be getting an intake from Trinity or Vitos or someone that'll allow a little more room for the clutch arm. The Boss intake doesn't look like it really has crossover tube connections, but maybe I'm wrong. So, will I need the crossover tube or not when changing over.
-
Good idea. Put the 16 in there, and if it's too much, then slowly gear down from the rear and "fine tune" it. Now, if you do get to where you beat it, then I might have to stay away from you with the 450....

Alright guys, I haven't forgotten about any of you, I just having a hard time making up my mind which way to go and I'm not in an urgent hurry, so I'm just weighing it out. bansheefreak, your pipes do look good.

Alternative to the Toomey Hust Kit!
sredish replied to SouperSport's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
The Hush kit quiets the Toomey pipes, those don't look like they quiet the pipes, just put a spark arrestor there. If you need a spark arrestor, those would probably work, but if you need to meet a low sound db, dunno that they'd work. They look good tho. Scott -
I doubt your gonna hurt much as far as lean/rich going from a 50 to a 48, so I'd try it if the 50 gets better. The pilot in that thing is so easy to get to, it's worth the time to try a 48, trust me. Also, get an EEK while your talking to them, and as Wally said, try it first in the same clip position, it'll make it run better, but probably won't do much for your starting as it changes mostly 3/4 to WOT.

Whats the reasoning for the chop, your machine is bone stock right? You might could use another size on the mains but it doesn't look bad.

I don't know, you tell me....
