  1. i've done 91mph in 500 ft dirt in 5th gear with 15-37 sprockets.could'nt go into 6th gear cause i don't have one i don't know mph but i have ran 489ft on a dirt/sand mix track in 5.7 seconds with my sons x3 passion motor with 16-38 sprockets and never got past 3rd gear ,so i'm guessing i was real close to 100 mph.i know it felt like over 100.we are in no way stock though.
  2. i done that same thing a couple years ago.i cut it behind the shock mount and extended it 5 inches.i used eigth inch thick rectube the same size as what the stock swingarm was made of .i used my mig and welded it together.it had a very slight twist when i was finished but not enough to hurt anything and it worked great.i was trimming weight so i sold it and got a grr.as far as i know the guy is still useing it and has had no problems with it.
  3. yeh thats the spot i was talkin about i've never dealt with keystone but i have dealt with bedford yamaha.never had them do any work but i've bought a few parts there.they are a little high on parts in my oppinion.as for goin to 19 cc domes i'm pretty sure you'de be ok and still run pump gas.we run 19's all the time when we were into trail ridingand even ran 18's.do you have your timing advanced?if not and i were you i would advance it 4 degrees and go with the 19's.you may have to rejet just a little.however if you don't feel at all safe changing then go with what noss tells you or you feel safe with.
  4. the squish band is the flatter band on the head that works more or less like a deflecter to direct the compressed air and gas mixture up into the dome of the head.in the last pic you posted there is what appears to be a bad spot right where the headgasket seals. noss head is the way to go .very good quality and very nice guy to deal with. as for boring ,don't bore unless its necessary.boring does not give enough power gain to justify loosing future bores.at your elevation you could go to 19 or even 18 cc domes if you want more bottom end.i have a set of 19cc domes if you want to try 19's.
  5. in my oppinion i think you would be further ahead with the cubs and stroker kit instead of the cheetah.till you get the cheetah renikasiled and setup you probally won't run as well but you'll have about as much or money in it.
  6. now that is very impressive.don't care who you are its impressive.jim is without a doubt a guy who knows exactly what hes doin and can make them scary fast.
  7. it depends on a couple other things such as head, carbs, pipes and if they're ported who does the porting.i think it would be safe to say they will be anywhere from 70 hp up to 100 hp.add a 4 mill stroker and you can easily be 100hp +

  10. i'll highly recommend jim at passion if you need anything.also milo if ya want to stop in at bbdr april 22 its test and tune and we'll have a couple of jim's motors there and you'll be able to see first hand why i recommend him.first real race at bbdr is may 6 come on out and check em out.
  11. check it out :ebay link
  12. i've dealt with andy a few times my self and got nothing but first rate service from him.super guy to deal with and has some of the best pipes and products out there.
  13. talk to passionre or give him a call .jim is a very wonderful guy to talk to .his number is :918-232-3950
  14. with a little searching i found this if its the same place he's talkin about. rb porting
  15. a couple other factors come into play when it comes to whether you need race fuel or not.altitude is a big factor along with timing and even mix ratio.people at 500ft altitude might need race fuel with they're setup and that same setup at 3000 ft would be just fine with pump gas.so i think you need to figure in all the other factors when deciding whether or not you need race fuel.as for mixxing race fuel and pump gas i don't believe in it .in my oppinion its one or the other.
  16. talk to passionre on here or give him a call 918-232-3950.hes a great guy to talk with and deal with .he is always willing to give advice and help a guy decide what route to take when it comes to motor setups whether you buy from him or not.i've ran a few of his motors and all of them were real strong running.i know he can give you over 80 hp on 4 mill stock cylinders and over 100 on 4 mill cubs if you want.like rocketboy said, step up to 80 hp from the 38 or what ever stock is and you will realize that 100 hp is probally not necessary for the type of riding you do.
  17. i think i'd go with a blue frame.
  18. hi and welcome to hq.yeh go with a banshee.it don't matter what year really they are all great and have had very little changes through out the years.the 87-89 were j-arms and then they went to a-arms.both were great and althouggh i prefer the older j-arm frames because all i do is drag race mine.most ppl prefer the newer a-arm set ups.the motors have remained unchanged since the beginning for the banshee.alot of people get a banshee and don't plan on modifying it to much but after you get one and get to haveing fun on it ,i'm sure you'll start upgrading and modifying.it becomes an addiction.
  19. nice ,my son bkabina has an 84 short bed that he plans on redoing.its a 250 six cylinder now.he also has an 86 4x4 chev lifted is an awsome truck for digging in the mud . i have an 82 chev 4x4 with a 390 hp 455 olds motor in it.
  20. go with engine ice and a noss head.you should notice a pretty good change in engine temp.i have seen engine ice drop engine temps 30 to 40 degrees.there is also no reason to drill and tap head to add a temp guage ,do a search there was a couple good posts on here about installing temp guages.
  21. i'd try new plugs and check the jetting.sounds to me as if it could be to rich.
  22. improper jetting is the main cause of pipes turning blue.i'd say most of the time, pipe blueing is caused by running to rich.it don't really matter who made the pipes,if they are chromed they all have the possibility of turning blue.timing is another factor in pipe blueing.
  23. sounds like the shift shaft adjusting eccentric is out of adjustment or worn or both.could also be the shift shaft its self.if the spring on the end that hooks the pins on the shift drum is bad that will do it.might want to pull the clutch cover and check it out.
  24. i'm interested . i'm gonna try to be at tri county open house for the drag race.i was there along with my son for the quadfest drag race last year.i know a couple guys that run tri county drags and hope to run a couple this year.i also run the grass drag at martins when they have them.i hope quadfest is as good this year at mountain ridge trails as it was at tri county last year. p.s. any of you guys ever run at mraion center dirt drags?
