tedd1 Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 i sent mine back. They were bad. I ordered replacements from Cascade this evening...we'll see... Rick Quote
shee4speed Posted May 10, 2008 Report Posted May 10, 2008 I got my Shearers today-very disappointed! I am sending them back. I called who I bought them from and he is willing to do a refund. There are bare metal spots around the welds. I got to looking real close at the one I took out of the box and not only found bare metal, there are also a couple of spots in a weld that will surprise me if they don't leak. My 10 yr old fattys are in better shape! These pipes have got to perform, I don't know how else this guy could stay in business. I called Cascade and discussed their supposedly "custom finish" Shearers. Can anyone here recommend them? Rick I got mine from them and all is good.Cascade++=====goood to go go! Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) is there much of a difference between the shearers and cpis or are they both pretty good? inframes im talking about! Edited May 11, 2008 by papa_smurf49319 Quote
FelixTheCat Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I've seen a lot of both pipes... Personally I like the Shearers...and that is what we sell... I don't know about all of you...but its pretty damn hard to find aftermarket parts that are a true bolt on...there is always some kind of fitting to do...no matter what you are building/modifying... I've got an old set of Shearers...there is some kind of spacer on every mount! So that meant a trip to the local hardware store for some spacers and longer bolts...but in the end they fit and perform great! Never mind the small dent and chipped chrome from hitting the head...only I know it's there... Quote
tedd1 Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 I have never run either one. I'm building a 421 from Kevin and he recommended Shearers for my build. Quote
racer Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Did Matt finally after years of complaining fix it? Mine bolted right up! One-off's? haha Quote
dajogejr Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Well...I'm going to have to take back what I said about his chrome. Near the head pipe @ the bend, I noticed mind flaking a little. You'd have to look real hard to find it...but, it's happening. I'm not even going to bother calling...the seam split, he did a great job on turn around (I don't know if he sent me back a shelf pipe or welded and rechromed it) but I'm not sending the same pipe back twice... I'll get raw metal next time...get them chromed myself.... Quote
jbooker82 Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Cascade does a nice chrome job. theshee does a great job pollishing. Quote
tedd1 Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 I was very pleased with the Shearers I got from Cascade. They even fit without spacers any where. They are, however, barely touching the frame at the lowest point, right where they come out of the motor. Quote

Try turning your pipe mounts up a little this might get them off the frame, the last thing you want is the two rubbing holes in each toher Quote
Animalman294 Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Ya, I was looking at the shearer's or the CPI's for my cubby, but its not strictly a drag bike so still on the fence about the shearer's................. Quote

You can still ride the dunes, you just cant lug over the peaks like you can with other pipes. got to keep the R's up a little more. But then again I cn't really go on long rides like I used to either. Quote
rubberneck Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 had to machine a 3/8" spacer and tweak the stinger a bit on the left side pipe to get it to clear the cub cylinder and the carb cap on the left carb. Mine are only a few months old also, so i would say you got a lucky set as far as fitment. Mine barely clear the lower fram also. Will keep an eye on them to make sure they dont start rubbing. Quote
rubberneck Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Damn it man. Just got done cleaning up the bike from this weekend and realized that after all the riding the left pipe moved some more. PUt a big ole nasty mark on the side of my fast head and wore through the paint at the cub cylinder. Havent pulled the pipe to see what it did to the chrome, but im sure it messed it up. I just hope it didnt do worse than that. I put a 3/8 spacer at the front mount, 1/4 inch at the stinger and tweaked the stinger tube a bit to get it to clear the carb cap and cylinder. Going to pull it off tomorrow, and machine some bigger spacers/do some more tweaking. Dang it. Quote
