banshee dave Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 in my own opinion dump the stock lock nut and replace them with the LSR locknut. you will be much happier Quote

Dinner Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 I got tired of having the two nuts coming loose all the time, so i tightened the crap out of them, then wrapped electrical tape around the two nuts and the sprocket hub. I have had it like this for months now and they haven't moved. Dinner Quote

Bansh-eman Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 theres really no resone to do the 40.140,177 thing... i want to say its a 56mm but im not 100% this is what i do... get your self a pipe wrench like a plumber uses, and just put all your wieght on the first nut... then red loctite on the threads and tighten the second up and do the same thing with the wrench... dawarriorman Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 If you tighten it like the manual says, it won't come loose. Most people simply don't pay attention to the directions, or they don't get enough torque on the nuts. Im not sure on the exact numbers, but if your numbers are correct, you tighten the first nut against the carrier at 40 lbs. The second nut tightened against the first to 140 lbs, then you back the first nut off against the second nut to 177 lbs. As far as formula, Im guessing your talking about the one to correct the torque values for using the crows foot? You don't need to use a formula if you use the crows foot at a right angle to the handle of the wrench. As long as you don't change the length of the handle, you don't change the torque applied. like this: |< | | Quote
BansheeKid15 Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 I got tired of tightening mine also, so i tightened the hell out of them and put 2 spot welds to connect the two nuts.. never had problems since, and if i need to replace them i just take a grinder with a flap disk and remove the two little welds... whatever works  Quote

Bansh88 Posted December 28, 2006 Report Posted December 28, 2006 Both my Banshee's had problems with the axle nuts. I cranked the fuck out of them too. Even locktite on one set. I picked up some aftermarkets. Work like charm and look sweet too. RIS and Modquad. Quote

Bansh-eman Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 man if your still coming lose with loctite your shits rattling like a mother fuker! the LSR , threads on the axel... then it has two hexhead bolt that go oposite sides... you tighten them down and it clamps down on the axle and doesnt let it loosen up Quote

Better than loctite in my opinion. Just tighten everything up then wrap the nuts in tape. And it's easier to get back apart. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 are you seriouse?how will elictrical tape hold better then loctite? is a mild adhesivetape that is wrapped around the out side of the nuts , where as loctite will harden on the threads making it much less likley to loosen go on ebay and bid on your self a LSR locking nut you can get them for like 50 bucks sometimes... tighten it down put your self some red LT on both bolts andyour good... if you still come loose you got problems Quote
