2005SEBANSHEE Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Electrical tape serves great as insulation for wires... that's about it though. Get it hot, and it gets all gummy, and doesnt stick anymore. One very easy solution to this problem is drilling and tapping the out side nut and installing a small set screw. I've messed w/ locktite in the past, but if the surface is dirty when you apply it, it doesnt really do it's job. The LSR locking nut is the way to go I think. But the set screw can get you buy just as well. Quote

The only way to keep the stock style nuts tight is to lock them together. They will not turn if they are together. And, since when do your axle nuts get hot? Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Believe me, it works! I raced MX on Blasters for years. They have the same axle nut setup as the banshee. Almost everyone at the races used the electical tape method. Quote
2005SEBANSHEE Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 (edited) And, since when do your axle nuts get hot? when it's a hundred and ten outside. Edited January 7, 2007 by 2005SEBANSHEE Quote
CombatTalon2 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Drill a hole in each nut from one flat to the next flat. Then safety wire the nuts together.... probelm solved! Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 And, since when do your axle nuts get hot? Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. well you obviously dont ride in glamis in the summer? about 115-120 yea id say it gets hot... also who said they havent tried it? this post has came up several times, the tape method has worked for a few ppl but most of the time it comes loose... i dont see how a mild adhesive hold anything from spinning? clean your threads and use loctite and get it over with Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Drill a hole in each nut from one flat to the next flat. Then safety wire the nuts together.... probelm solved! this would work too... but if they dont line up then its kinda hard to do... but if they do then your golden Quote

2005SEBANSHEE Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 a set screw cost about .25... and no issues with the nuts lining up. Quote
chevy7398 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 ive always used electrical tape and works great Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I've tried the tape method and it didn't do jack shit for me. The outside nut would just walk out anyway and take the tape with it and make it a huge retarded mess to clean up. Spend the money and get a locking nut and do it right. Quote
