enFORCER Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 The past few years I have done most of my riding on sand. However, this past weekend I had a chance to do some riding on some really nice trails (they were dirt). It was definitely a refreshing change. So what's your preference? Quote
RIPPEN Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 SAND by far... After riding sand for a while I went on a "dirt trail" trip and I didn't really enjoy it at all.. I really dig the way banshee run on the sand.. I like hooking up with paddles and I like the hill climbs in sand BUT Iam sure every once in a great while dirt may be a nice change for some people.. Yamashee1 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Well I never had the Chance to ride on sand. or should i say Dunes I have been on Sandy areas and that was fun. I want to go to LS Sometime. But I love a good hard Trail ride. Quote
letsgetthisdone Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 sand by far. but I like riding dirt too. as long as it is a fast desert trail that is fairly bumpy and whooped out with some natural jumps thrown in. Quote
csrmel Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 i think they are both great. its just that slow speed technical dirt riding is not what the banshee was designed for, so if one is going dirt riding, stick to the high speed trails. theres some dirt trails around my area that are rediculously technical. im talking 150 degree hairpin turns that you have to lock the rear end up and slide out sideways just to make the turn. jmo, this is not where a banshee shines. this trail is more suited to a frame with better geometry, and a 4 stroke engine too. dont get me wrong i can run with the 4 strokes, but i miss turns, make mistakes, somtimes have to get off and push the banshee backwards onto the trail because i went into the sticks. it seem like they dont ever get off, maybe because they have reverse! theres other dirt trails, that are high speed with banked corners and relatively flat straights, man i be passing those exact same quads that gave me trouble on the technical stuff. i pass them on the inside of corners, the outside of corners, it just doesnt matter. this is where the banshee shines. the high speed smooth stuff i can just dominate. that raw banshee power makes up for its woods diffencies when you are on flat ground. jakehopt Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I wanna ride sand so bad! Never done it... So for now, Dirt. Quote
korndawg Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Dirt is ok for an occasional change of pace, or if you just don't have the time to haul it to the sand. Other than that, it is sand all the way. Quote
helldriver Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) I love both!! but sand tends to get boring sometimes,,, SO, thats wahy I started doing GNCC racing,,, the fuckin trails are intense,, a challange BUT than i love to get back on the sand and let the shee do its thing!! locogato11283 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 i prefer dirt to sand. i like tight technical trails and the really fucked up hills that dirt can provide. ive got some real nasty shit that i climb and i cant do that in sand. some of my hills have jumps halfway up then turn into walls. you just cant have that with sand. however, sand is a fun change of pace. we head to LS a couple times a year to jump dunes and do some drag racing. but after a couple days in the sand im ready for the dirt again...
