PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 I've got a new -2 roundhouse on the way, anybody have any recomendations as far as what companies make good skid plates for swingers? This is on a trail riding shee and It's going to take a beating. Quote
dawarriorman Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Ive had an armadillo plate on mine for a couple years now, and its taken a beating without a single dent to show for it. A few scratches, but thats it. The only thing that would concern me is that it doesn't cover the shock linkage, but it hasn't been a problem for me yet. I would think that any of the plates made of .250 aluminum would be more than enough. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted October 31, 2005 Author Report Posted October 31, 2005 id say PRM.. 431606[/snapback] That's what I was leaning towards just wanted to see if anybody had any other opinions or complaints. Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 ac ones bend easily..id run prm.. Quote
mat Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 armadillo I'll second that. I have beat the sh*t out of mine for years and it has held up great. Where I ride (or maybe how I ride ) is so rough that the stock skid plate only lasted two rides. The Armadillo one has been going strong for three years now. Quote

The PRM one looks like it does but the armadillo pictures all look the same for every model so I can't tell. Quote
FadedDreams Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 The skid plate that covers the linkage might not fit with a shortened swingarm.Unless you cut it to fit. Quote

mat Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 I know that you need to hack up the PRM to make it work with the shortened swingarm. You have to essentially remove all of the skidplate that would cover the shock linkage. I wouldn't worry about protecting the shock linkage. I beat mine all of the time and it hasn't broken yet. A few gouges in the aluminum link, but nothing that hinders its performance or safety. Quote
Yaxy Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 I have a PRM which covers shock linkage and all. Takes a heck of a alot of abuse. Has been working great for the past 6 years or so. Chris Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted November 3, 2005 Author Report Posted November 3, 2005 Mat, On your armadillo did you have to cut it at all for the -2 swinger? Is yours the .250? I don't really care which I get as long as it will work with minimal to no modification. I'm not worried about the linkage either I don't have it protected now and I beat the snot out of it. Mainly want to protect the arm, rotor, and chain as much as possible. Chris, Are you running a -2 swinger? Quote
