  1. Oh ya,,,...the 35's outperformed the 28's throughout the WHOLE curve....I tried stock 28's tapered to 30's, 33's, and 35's......I don't believe when people say you gain top, but lose bottom...You either gain all around or lose...
  2. The 35mm carbs gave me 2hp on top and 5hp on bottom....The stroker just needs to breathe....I was also stuck on 37lbs of torque, but I gained 4lbs going from ported stock cages to V-force w/ prodesign intake......If I were you, that'd be my next step....then the larger carbs will benefit better, then get a stroker....the cost won't hit you all at once...You WILL see some nice gains w/ what you have now...BTW, I'm only pushing 160lbs of compression...93 octane.
  3. Red, you got it backwards....The colder it is, the leaner you'll be....As air warms up, your gonna be richer so you have to lean it out...
  4. I've seen a rubber manifold on ebay a week ago. They look like the stockers but larger for larger carbs...they cost $80....Or you can get the prodesign intake w/ 33-35mm boots....The v-force reeds will work w/ the intake, you just have to pull the rev plate off...I should have my new carbs before the weekend, if so I'll send them out Saturday...Pm me your address....
  5. Lean on the air screw...Turn it in a little...
  6. Talked to Gary, sais it common for the hiem to start getting play after about a year depending on riding...then he suggested that I ride hard.... ...everyone sais that.... Anyways...He has some stronger ones that just came out, they are $25/joint, and are only $10 more than the previous ones.....I'm gonna try some out..let you know next year how they hold up.....
  7. You have more than a piston problem..A stuck ring won't cause a lean plug....You have an air leak...
  8. I'm pulling 63hp 41lbs of torque so far w/ my 4mil....Thats setup for low end though...
  9. Not sure, lets call Gary..
  10. Trader..... You haven't even started to pull power out of your shee yet....You think I'm bullshitting you when I said the reeds and intake made that much difference...When I said my shee was untamed, I meant it...I was down 7hp last weekend. I just got off the phone and ordered the rest of my parts....Tell Todd to get that shit box down here this weekend..I have something for him....I'll have more than that 7hp to. Pulling out some more hidden power...Wait till you try it. You'll be pro yamaha again.
  11. thats what stops the gear from spinning on the shaft
  12. same here, its just the upper spindle joints
  13. Nope, I get my slides up as far as possible....If your plugs are tan, then go up on the mains at least 2 sizes....then try another run at wot...I'm surprised that your needles don't like to be any richer...What kind of reeds are you running?? I wonder if that filter is holding you back.....
  14. You can get them from Elka direct....The non-adjustables are only $450....same as the works....If you bought the fully adjustable works shocks, then your looking at $900.....compare apple to apples...
  15. Gary is awesome!!!! BTW, Gary, do you have my titanium frame done yet?? lol

    Flywheel

I'll tune in, Walters helped me out way too much to not back him up...If it wasn't for him, my week in Dumont would have sucked...(BTW, I still have your flywheel and clutch for ya) And thanks to Walter he sent me a set of 33mm carbs to try for my stroker...I've had them for 3 weeks now and he hasn't even mentioned when he's getting them back.... Goes to show the respect and trust he has for others, therefore he has my full respect and trust as well....What comes around, Goes around...you'll learn that Goony.........
  17. Try a new spark plug.......
  18. That would be cool as hell......You have about 11 months to gear up for Roostfest!!!! Grab your shit, Coalfest is in a month and a half....first week of June....
  19. hehe...Clay rules....Get'her dooonnnnneeee!!!!!!!!
  20. hhmmm......still working on it...I tried the reed spacers, no luck....I'll try blocking the tops this week. Might be hitting the dyno again..I'm trying to get some G3 reeds from the company for testing. If they won't, f-them and I'll buy some pyramids...I have a feeling that my porting is whats doing it...I might be sending my cylinders out to Duncan..should have the first time....Anyways, I'm testing a NOSS Head from Dave...thanks to him, we'll be able to see the gains from his domes.....
  21. The only reason why the Elkas are so expensive is because they are full adjustable..You can buy the non adjustable fronts for like $450...You can still adjust the spring, you just can't adjust the compression and rebound... Stroker cost........... Crank...........$500 Porting..........$500 Carbs............$300 Intake...........$200 Reed cages....$200 Rebuild..........$300 Total.............$2000, YOUR GOOD!!!! $1500 if you stay w/ the stock crank, then you have to weld and true it for anther $75-100...When you get done though, it'll take quite a while to get used to the power...HUGE gains!!!!
  22. Start of winter......that sucks, we're just coming out of winter... Summer time here we come...... . You should come to the northern side for a few months.....
  23. You should have around 120-128psi at or about sea level...You want both cylinders to be within 5psi and honing is when they rough up the cylinders a bit after boring or before changing the rings...Its helps the rings and cylinders wear together....Honing is usually done w/ honing stones in a drill or other devices. While spinning the stones, you pull the drill in and out of the cylinder causing a x-design in the cylinders.....You might even still see some honing lines in the cylinders now...
  24. Nice!!! How's the weather?? Its raining and about 48 degrees out here....Sucky day. I can't get off the computer..nothin else to do...
  25. That might work, but could have various reading depending on the person....I'd just buy a compression tester at an automotive store or get a good one from Snap-on or Craftsman....Put the guage in the spark plug hole, hold the throttle wide open, keep kickin until the needle stops, thats your compression.....
