Choke 1/2 Out Great.choke In Bad!
Banchetta replied to BansheeBrian's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Its cold, it'll smoke w/ or w/o the choke until you ride it around a little....Does it still smoke a lot after running it?? -
Best, Cheapest, Place To Buy 33mm Pwks?
Banchetta replied to Justintoxicated's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Someone is selling a intake in the for sale section......$125 I just got my carbs and will send them out within the next couple of days. I still have to clean them up....What are your mods, I'll try to prejet them for you..... -
Do you shut the choke off after a few seconds and just maintain throttle on/off until its warm or just leave the choke on? The choke should only be used for starting it up, you can play the choke off/on for a minute, but don't leave it on...

Checklist....look between the two carbs. Do you see a tube (1/4"x 2" long) connecting the two carbs between them?? Next, pull the air cleaner and look inside the carbs w/ a flashlight, make sure the slide cutaway (slant) is facing the airbox and make sure that both slides are down..sometimes one slide will stick open and cause it not to start.... If everything checks out, then try disconnecting the tors brain...Little black box above the left exhaust w/ a 3-wire plug... If it still doesn't start, then check to see if the carb bowls have been swapped...Only one bowl has a little jet in the bottom of the carb bowl for the choke. If you swap the bowls, then it won't start..the bowl w/ the jet has to be on the choke carb.... Next, check your compression...Low compression will make a shee start really hard if at all when cold, but start up fine when warm...

I Raced A Honda 450r Over The Weekend
Banchetta replied to SICK BOY's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have 2 friends w/ the Yami's and 2 friends w/ the HOndas...The Honda is piped, cam, valves, etc....pulls the 2 yamis w/ pipes and cam, but he's also a great rider..PUlls them by 2-3 bike lengths, but if I race the Yami, he only gets it by 1 bike length..He is also a smaller guy....Who cares, I smoked both of them by 5 quads from 1st-4th, then leave him like a bitch after.... looks like the 2-strokes aren't outdated yet.... -
I'd have to grab the old mans Harley. I sold my bike about 2 weeks ago..I"ll be around though....Are you going to Coalfest on the 4-6th of June??
-
I cut the last 1.5" off the end of the lid so water can't get onto the filter. Your motor will have all the air it needs...Cover the holes w/ duct tape or get a new one on fleabay....
-
what is all your jet sizes? clip position on needle? timing advanced?
-
Post a pic, I'll let you know which way to go. Make sure you run it wide open in 6th gear, coast to a stop after you kill the motor, pull the plugs, take a pic.....
-
You don't have stock carbs on there is your running 175 mains.....STock carb jets only go in 10 increments....180,190,200,210,220,230, etc....If you have 175 mains, then your running keihin carbs which are larger than stock which will make you lose hp w/o porting.....A 175 main is a huge jet for stock motor w/ just pipes..I'm running a 158 w/ my stroker...
-
Stock carbs or 2 into 1 carb setup?
-
HOld the throttle open to help the motor pull air into it easier and get a more accurate test....
-
Your supposed to have 25% of sag....So if you have 9-10" of travel...2.5" of sag...mx might have a little more sag to lower the height...
-
2hp on top isn't to noticeable, but 2-4hp on the bottom is really noticeable since you only have about 20hp to start w/ at 4000rpms....To most people, who cares, but I like to squeeze every hp I can from my shee....Why spend $1500 into a stroker and intake mods to gain 10hp, then hold back $300 for a set of carbs for another 2hp......
-
Yeshaa, dat Maine lobsta is wicked good!!! I have a 40' lobster boat..... One of my trades...Ok tors is removed, needles are stock position,, stock jetting,......Did you check the choke tube between the two carbs?? PUll the air cleaner and look into the carbs to see if you can see the cutaway in the slides (slant)
-
I broke a gear tooth doing that.....and it didn't take much force.... put the shee in gear and have someone hold the rear brake pedal.....
-
Maine doesn't have much, but fishing ports....We have a ton of them....Bar Harbor has some really nice scenery w/ the rocky costline and a lot of fishing boats....The autumn scenery is the best in Maine w/ the colored leafs...but that won't be until Sept.-Oct.....You could swing by Old Orchard Beach which is 5 minutes from me...Its a small stretch of beach w/ amusement rides, food, etc....kinda of like a fair, but it doesn't move.... The Kangamangos Highway in NH is a nice ride. We usually take that route when we ride our bikes....Fast and curvy, just watch out for highway patrol.... There isn't much population north of Portland and there isn't much for terrain until you go west into the mountains...I'll think about it and get some more info for you..

Never tried aftermarket cages on a stock porting, but the v-force made 5-7hp more than ported stock cages...I'll be dynoing the pyramids this week.....this is on a 4mil stroker.....
-
Easy fix, look above the left exhaust, you'll see a little black box w/ a 3-wire plug, unplug it, next....go to the handlebars and follow the parking brake switch wire towards the gas tank to another connector, disconnect it.....That'll completely disable the true TORS system.....Throttle Over Ride System.... Next, check to make sure your choke tube is in place between the two carbs..I doubt this is your problem since its your 3rd shee and it idles fine, but covering everything...... If problem persist, check the slides in the carbs to make sure the cutaway is facing the air box..... If problem still persist, bring it to Maine and I'll check it out....
-
fmf doesn't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.....Drop to the stock or 27.5 and go from there....I'd also suggest moving the needle up to the 4th clip from the blunt end like red said.......

Choke 1/2 Out Great.choke In Bad!
Banchetta replied to BansheeBrian's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Its completely normal that a shee needs a little choke during warm up and will smoke until you ride it a little. Don't worry... -
2 into 1 or the Pt mids...
-
There is still a set on ebay right now..I believe for another day....no one has bidded and the starting price is $195/set...
-
Minkia, get some 34 or 35's depending on what throttle range you ride mostly in....You'll notice a huge difference in the low end...I have low end porting and the larger carbs still kicked ass, not as much on top, but on the bottom.....
