  1. We were there over 4th of July. Pretty cool area, very pretty. Dunes are very small, at least to what I am used to..... Glamis. But, sand is sand and when it is 115F in Phoenix in the summer, it is someplace nicer. We are going to take the rails up there next 4th of July also. It is crazy, during the day, it is pretty toasty, but as soon as the sun goes down, it is cold as hell.
  2. I run those domes at Glamis which is about 500' elevation. I run half race gas and half premium. I have done this for 3 years with no problems. I would run some race gas if I were you.
  3. Yeah, Mike Rush with Rush Motorsports. He does it out of his garage, but is VERY good at what he does. PM me if you want his phone number.
  4. All you have to do is get some high temp tubing and put about 6" of the tubing on each stinger tube of your pipes. Then your outerware can rest against the tubing and not burn. As soon as I can reduce the size of my pix, I will post it. I did this 4 years ago and it has worked very nicely.
  5. A stock 450R will not beat a modded Shee. A modded 450R will be a slightly modded Shee. I know how to ride, and my buddy has a 450 with a pipe and a cam kit. He can just barely beat me at Competition hill at Glamis. I don't have any motor work done and weigh about 40lbs more than him. I know those factors play against me. Those 450s are fast bikes. If you race, you better know how to ride your bike.
  6. I don't know. I am the only Banshee in my riding group at the dunes. I always lead and haul arse. I am 4-5th gear pinned all the time. None of my 4 stroke buddies have any problems keeping up with me. If I get another bike, it will be a 4 stroker. They have come along ways and stock bikes have great suspensions. You have to spend alot of money on a shee to get the same ride.
  7. It's got a new Cummins in it? I have never heard of one of those going bad. Did Dodge replace it under warranty and do all the work?
  8. Need to add what air filter setup you are running. You may be lean now and don't know it.
  9. No, I am not ported. I have been asked that before and people can't believe I run such big mains. I have been running like this for 3 seasons. I am fat on the top end, like I can't pull a real crisp 6th gear, but I don't care. I would rather be a little fat on the top end then burn up my motor.
  10. it blew up because of an air leak not really jetting. it just seemed kinda large the plugs are black but i posted some pics up of them a while back and the picture made them look very lean but they weren't 281274[/snapback] I don't think that is too big. 370 mains is what I run and I know I don't have an airleak.
  11. Toomey said 280s with their pipes also. I am running 370 mains in my bike. That should give you an idea of how far off the instructions are. Jetting up until it bogs is what you are supposed to do. I would keep going up if I were you. My saying..... "A lean bike will run good, just not for long."
  12. R you serious dude? If you shut the fuel off, it is supposed to do that. That is what a 2 stroke will due when it runs out of gas. There is nothing wrong with your bike.
  13. You need more jetting all the way around with pipes and no air box lid. Especially at that elevation, low temps and humid. You are going to burn it up. Good luck.
  14. What pipes and air filter setup are you running? A lean bike will run well..... just not for long.
  15. Spitting and backfiring is a sign of being lean, not rich. If you are running a K&N paper filter with no air box lid, you need to be about 260-280 on the mains.
  16. If you adjusted the big screws that are on the very top of the TORS on top of the carbs.... you adjusted the idle on the bike so that is why it won't idle. The air screws are the small brass screws on the sides of the carbs. You don't have to take the seat off to get to the air screws. Sounds like you need to get a Clymers manual before you do any more work on your bike. The manual has pix of everything.
  17. Not a jeep.... but I am putting a LS1 in my new rail.
  18. I would mix 50/50 if you can't afford 100% race fuel. If you can afford it, run the race fuel.
  19. go to www.ronnies.com and look at the microfiche with pix of everything. It will show you what you need to have.
  20. I wouldn't use those cheesy hose clamps again either. You might get an airleak without sealing the carbs to the carb boots properly. Spend the 4 bucks and get the right clamps. They are designed to fit around the carb boots for a reason.
  21. Bummer, we will be at Gordons that weekend, and also the following weekend 11/19.
  22. Thanks guys, I didn't use any sealant. New gasket, new carb boot, clean surfaces, torqued criss cross to 7ft lbs. Everything looks good. We will find out tomorrow at the dunes!!!
  23. Hey guys, I am putting my reeds and new carb boot back into my bike. I have a new gasket to use, which goes between the reed block and cylinder. Should I use gasket sealer? I took it apart and replacing stuff because I thought I might have an airleak. Last weekend at Glamis I had some sand stuck to the top of the reed cage and I have never had that before. My right side plug looked a little lighter than my left side. So just to be sure, I didn't ride it anymore and am replacing the carb boot and gasket that goes between the cylinder and reed block. Also putting in a new choke tube hose. Thanks for the input.
  24. 1. T5s 2. Toomey 2:1 air filter. 3. No airbox. 4. 500' elevation(Glamis) 5. 30 pilots. 6. 370 mains. 7. 50-70F
