  1. damn thats crazy.. youre right at sea level arent you kevin? i cant imagine that here. bikes wouldnt even run. i wonder where the original poster is located..i didnt even think to look.
  2. they are pretty close to the same thing. the vf3 use a snap in system that eliminated the screws from the vf2. either one would be fine for you. because keihin aftermarket carbs use a jet system that uses pilots like 45,48,50,52,55 etc and main jets like 155,158,160,162,165 etc. 170 psi is a pretty safe psi to run on any motor. itll give you more bottom end grunt without sacrificing too much rev on top. +4 timing is a good mod for just about any bike. you have to be sure to run the proper octane fuel for increased compression and timing. go with a NOSS head. dave is a site sponsor and makes great products. his screen name here is dlnoss.
  3. well yea, that makes sense.. but this isnt an alky bike is it?? ive never run anything higher than a 48 pilot and 162 main on a 4mm stock cyl motor, 4mm cub and 10mm cub motor with 33, 35 or 39mm pwk.. i generally settle in about 45 pilot and 160 main, which is what my 10mm cub has in it right now with 39mm pwk..
  4. ah shit, it was early this morning.. yea if it runs good at that jetting, i think theres still a problem. ive never heard of anyone having that high of a pilot. thats crazy. the main is a little more believable but still pretty high.
  5. stick to wiseco next time around.
  6. well thats good you figured it out, but those jets seem way off for any setup. where did you find 167 mains? did you mean 168? are you sure youre not way too rich everywhere? did you do a WOT plug check?
  7. that gun safe is tight.
  8. something could be pressurizing the coolant system.
  9. should slide right off. try tapping it a little.
  10. wait, what?? puller for the main gear? which gear are you talking about? you dont need a puller for anything on the clutch side of the motor. the gear on the clutch side of the crank has a nut holding it on. did you take it off? also, is the crank still in the bike? do you intend on trying to install a new crank bearing with the crank still in the bike?
  11. if youre using the correct gaskets, one on each side of the reed cage and your clamps are good and tight, i see no reason for you to be having an air leak. i used to run the boss intake and my brother still does.. we never had any issues. you stated already that you tried carb cleaner and didnt see any difference.. correct? maybe you just really have no idea what youre doing with jetting. just a thought, not an insult.
  12. yep, helicoil. if you dont trust yourself to do it, let a machine shop throw it in there for you.
  13. pilot is too big. need to be down around 45 or 48.
  14. pull the jets out and make sure they arent plugged.. did this problem just start all of a sudden?
  15. i should have some shirts in hopefully here pretty quick to show you guys..
  16. reeds and carbs for sure.. youre choking that motor right now. call jeff and see what he recommends.
  17. yo, you need to bring that main up.. get at least a 162 in there. id start with a 48 pilot and air screw 1.5 turns out. you need to get a baseline before you do anything else. id set the timing at +4 or +7 and leave it. get your jetting right..
  18. 60 bucks for 7hp? im on that like a fly on shit.
  19. lookin for a stock head. thinkin about doin some shit to my 450 this winter. if you have one holler.
  20. shirts are already in the works with no picture.. too many people said they didnt like the idea of a bike on there whether it was a silhouette or a real pic.
  21. word.. you should replace the bushing, washer and clip all at the same time. ive had the clip come off, but somehow the gear stayed on. lucky i guess. there shouldnt be that much play.
  22. what is your jetting now? you should really be at least a 162 main and 45 pilot.
