  1. Currently, my clutch side cover is off. The clutch basket is removed. Trying to troubleshoot a kick starting issue. Can you perform the test by just turning the crankshaft nut and doing everything else you mentioned? The motor would just be air temp.
  2. What is the proper method for testing the compression on a banshee? Is it just a matter of removing 1 spark plug and turning the motor over? Thanks.
  3. everything looks good inside. Jeff from FAST says there should be some resistance when turning the crankshaft. I want to test compression now.
  4. I actually replaced the bushing last night. I had everything back together and went to move the kick starter with my hand. It didn't move very far. I tried a little with my foot and it still didn't want to go. It seems like it was binding with the kick idler gear. I took everything apart and started looking at the crank.
  5. I am hoping the idler gear is fixed with the new bushing, but now I am concerned with how hard the crankshaft seems to spin.
  6. Clutch basket is off. The bike was not in gear. I have not taken the head off yet. I had a rattle noise on the bike. Guys from the forum suggested I look at the flywheel and kick idler gear. The flywheel was tight. The kick idler gear had some play in it. I didn't have the bushing to replace the kick idler gear, so I put it back together to go riding. I started the quad up and just let it idle. The rattle noise was there. Quad idled for about 15 seconds and then just stopped. I was unable to kick start the quad. I took everything back apart and the kick starter gear was wedged in the kick idler gear. I wiggled the kick idler gear and it freed everything up. I order a new bushing from Jeff at FAST Racing. I was putting everything back together last night. I couldn't get the kick starter to move again after the clutch cover was bolted back on. The rattle was not consistent before I took it apart the first time. Sometimes it would rattle and sometimes it wouldn't.
  7. I put a wrench/socket on the crankshaft nut and it was difficult to spin.
  8. Hello all. I had the issue with the kick idler gear rattle. I got that all replaced, but something else appears to be wrong. I put everything back together and I was unable to engage the kick starter. This is the same thing that happened earlier before I replaced the kick idler gear bushing. The kick starter gear was wedged in the kick idler gear. So, I took everything back apart. Spinning the crankshaft nut is not easy. There is a lot of resistance. Should it spin freely? I took both spark plugs out prior to spinning the crankshaft nut. Rough estimate to fix? Should I part the beast out? Thanks in advance.
  9. also, in the picture at the top of the post. what is item #6? it is labeled a stop, but I don't remember seeing it when I had the clutch cover off. I don't see it on any pictures on ebay of the assembly either.
  10. Update. I had to take another quad up north last weekend. Put everything back together. Started the shee, idled for about 40 seconds and then I heard a clunk. The shee stalled and now I can't move the kick starter. I'm assuming the idler gear found the kick starter gear and is stuck. At least i wasn't ridding it. I will have to take the clutch cover off and replace the idler gear with a new bushing from FAST. Are you able to remove the clutch without the special tool? Thanks.
  11. John, Are they brand new? just wheels? Pics? Thanks.
  12. Anyone got anything?
  13. I have a blue OEM rear fender and 2 stock rear wheels if interested. Make an offer. Let me know and I can take a pic.
  14. I am looking for a brand new set of stock silver Yamaha wheels. They need to fit a 09 YFZ450R. Thanks.
  15. Selling a 2002 Yamaha Banshee. I believe the quad is all stock except in frame drag pipes and silencers. Quad runs excellent. Just rode it up north on the Baldwin, MI trails last weekend. Still has TORS. All lights work. The bike is located in Southern Michigan. Price is $2,400 OBO. I have the title. Thanks.
