Oh shit, those are sick!!
By the way guys, I saw Richie's work in person the other day and his welds are flat out amazing. They're pretty much perfect from what I can tell. I stood on them and they felt good on the feet. You definitely won't be disappointed.
Kicker stop is not necessary and I actually prefer not having it, especially on my 10 and 18 DMs. Both of my bikes have the stainless Roll pegs with no kicker stop. You will be fine without it.
My Banshee is a 18mm DM with a +8 swingarm. My old 10mm Cub had a +6 on it. Here's a couple videos on the same hill with the two motors...
18DM on the left and 10Cub on the right
I'd say +6 or +8. Beaverdale looks pretty steep but a little loose, so you could go either way for it. If you go to a lot more power in the future a +8 may be better. For your mods now, I think a +6 will be long enough.
You've left out some information. What kind of hillclimbing are you doing? Trail hills, coal hills or competitive timed hills? How much do you weigh and how good of a rider are you?
If you can see the flywheel move side to side you have bigger issues. It should not move at all other than in a circle perfectly straight. Can you shoot video of your flywheel?
That hill is run only by the AMA Pro series. The bikes run on 100% nitro methane, which is why they have guys fanning the riders at the bottom during staging. Those bikes are long as fuck, which is part of the reason they get sideways so easily. I have no doubt that I could make that hill. I have plenty of power and I wouldn't have nearly the speed coming off the jumps. If an ATV did eat shit though, might as well consider it a total loss!
I'm actually glad my Roll pegs don't have the stop. You ever had a DM kick back on you? It fucking hurts. If you don't kick it all the way through you can count on it kicking back. That stop would actually be in my way.
My bike has 4 records in the D23 hillclimbing series. I have the fastest ATV times at New Ulm, MN, Red Wing, MN and Mankato, MN. I am also the first and only ATV rider to hold a full hill record in D23 (fastest time of all ATVs and bikes).
