I bought a set of a-arm guards from DG and the bag had a shitload of aluminum chips in the bottom and in the tapped holes. Not to mention the tapping oil. What a F-ing mess.I'll never buy from DG again!

Yea,they do load up the low and mid a bit.You may need to lean out the needle one clip too.
-
IMO your lean on your main,I'm running PC pipes,V-force,21cc head +4 timing,Dual stage foam filter and vented lid(6 1-inch holes) and I'm jetted perfect 310main,27.5 pilot and needle 2nd from the blunt end.Airscrews 1.5 turns out. Its jetted perfect for 70-75 degrees and 700 ft elevation.I was at 320 with a K&N and needle in the 3rd clip and 30 pilots with the same lid. Bump the mains up at least one size put your needle in the 3rd or even 4th clip from the blunt end. How old are your reeds?,I had a bad set of reeds on one side and took forever to figure out what it was.My reeds only made it one season before I had to replace them.
-
Yea,except he neglects to mention that you won't be able to use all of them cause their not even metric.F-ing shitbag!I made the mistake of not researching his negative feedback and I wasn't the only sucker who got screwed.

Wiseco only makes Vito's forged pistons.Wiseco does not make cast pistons for anybody because Wiseco does not make cast pistons period.I'm not sure who makes their cast pistons, but they see to be a good quality piston. I'm not sure if Wiseco actually finishes the Vitos piston,or if Vito's just buys a pre-forged piece and machines it themselves. Either way your getting a Wiseco if your buying a forged piece, personally,I would rather buy it from Vito's since they specialize in the banshee.

IMO,they are money well spent.I mostly trail ride and they can really help overcome a taller gear and running a top-end pipe.If your trail riding, there a good bang for the buck. I made the mistake of buying PC pipes for the trail, but the V-force made the pipes more trail friendly.

Those lightened flywheels really make the difference, not sure if Boon did the one I have but it was Sickboys old race engine.I am amazed how fast the engine revvs up.Compared to my 01',its like night and day. BTW what do you charge Boon and whats the turnaround?

I hate to admit it,but I need help!

Sickboy,I went with a foam filter and shees dead on now. That motor can pull a 15/41 with 22 inch holeshots without breaking a sweat. That thing is a monster. It was definitely worth the swap! I'm gonna look for those reeds and send them out with the Clymers manuel tomorrow,I've been so busy tring to get this badboy running,I totally forgot.keep an eye out for an large envelope from USPS. -
On a 2 stroke, probably not. Most definitely on a 4 stroke though, especially on real high mileage engines.I added some to my 95' F250 around 185,000 miles and did notice a little more punch to her. Then again at 255,000 and could definitely notice the difference. I used to laugh at sjit like that too,but it really does work. They reccommend adding it at every oilchange interval, but that gets too expensive. Engine restore,Marvel mystery oil and the "fabulous" PB Blaster will always be welcome in my garage.

I saw a banshee with 25x12.5 Mud machines mounted on a 10x10 wheel down at WNF.A 400 ex also had the same set-up,they were hitting mudholes that 4x4s were have hard times in.It looked hilarious to see such monster mudders on a shee.He said they could handle anything that Wayne threw at em

A case saver is cheaper than a chain! For anyone else out there thats not running one, learn from his mistake. I still can't believe that some people have not put simple shit like that on there machines. All the money that people throw away on there shees buying useless stuf(like bling bling) and they won't spend 40 bucks on something that is more valueable than any piece of billet. I did all of that stuff(case saver, high flow impeller, stiffer clutch springs, prodesign filter, etc)before I even added pipes. Every one of the banshees weaknesses can be found on this board. If you didn't take advantage of it,than you only have yourself to blame.

Sickboy,I got it running with 30's,but it seems like it wants a tad richer,so I'll try 32's.I'm running a stock lid with 3-1 inch holes in it and 300 mains, needle in the 3rd clip and she really rips. That motor is a midrange monster! It runs great a idle and off idle,It doesn't have any stumble or bog,but when I pull the choke the engine revvs up a bit,not a whole lot,but just a enough to hear the change in rpm.The plug even comes out a tad wet,but the color has developed into a nice golden brown. I'll have to try the 32s and I'll let you know how its going.I'm running 110 race gas . -
Here's the problem,I have a .40 over vito power piston ,Rad valved,FMF piped engine with 185 psi cylinders,K&n air filter with a mildly vented lid.The engine originally had mikuni 28mm flats on it ,but I haven't got a throttle thats set up for them yet.So I had a set of stock carbs that I went through cleaning every orifice and rejetting them at 310 main,30 pilot and needle in the 4th clip from the blunt end.Seemed like a good place to start. I've never ran fatties and the jetting is totally different than my PC's. The problem is it starts and runs great with the choke on,but as soon as you kill the choke, the engine died.So I started playing with the idle& air screws and got it to maintain an idle after the choke was closed,BUT when I pull the choke, the engine runs better and revvs up.WTF What gives?could it possibly need a larger pilot?I thought 30's were perfect for fatties, considering I'm still running a lid with very little venting. Any suggestions?I've covered the obvious as far as choke tube, air leaks, carb sync etc.

So called Assult Weapon ban over!
Nightrider replied to rebelbanshee2's topic in General Banshee Discussion
An AR-15 or comparable assult rifle is not a good"home defense weapon".A shotgun is still to this day the best in home protection. With some 00 buck your guarranteed to hit the mark, not to mention when you "rack" a shotgun, the sound is unmistakeable. Self defense is a pretty hard case to contest, unless the person is in your home, late at night and uninvited. You can make a case all you want, but when its comes time to use it 99% of the people won't do it or will take wayy too long to decide what to do.Which will allow a criminal who has probably already shot a number of people gunn you down.No matter how much preparation you have, you can't prepare enough to take someones life. For example, your coming from a downtown resturant late at night,A "hood" pulls a gun and asks for your wallet and wifes purse, you A:give him the wallet and purse or B:Pull your gun and see who's quicker on the trigger Scenario A may allow you and your wife to see another day with the loss of monitary items,Scenario B will result in you and possibly your wife being injured or killed.Over what?some money?A car?Imo its not worth it.I'll take a beating over death anyday. I too believe its a last resort, but I would never be the first to whip it out, like I said I'm not doin time for nobody. -
So called Assult Weapon ban over!
Nightrider replied to rebelbanshee2's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I find it amusing at all the tough talk on shooting people. All of that hardass talk is just that"talk".It takes alot more than that to pull the trigger. When the time comes its will be a hard decision to make. I never carried a gun and if I still could I probably wouldn't even with the new CCW law in Ohio.Although I do advise everyone to take advantage of it even if your not a gun enthusiest. It puts some "power" back in the hands of the people, instead of the GOV. always taking some away. God gave me two good fists a strong build and a hard head.If some dude needs a gun to fend me off than obviously he ain't even a man.My wallet, car etc is not worth more than my life and I'll be dammed if I'm doing time for some idiot who thought his gun was bigger than mine. I'm glad the ban has expired, simply because the majority of police and goverment officials are cryin the blues.I like te fact that we still have some control over our goverment. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government ...Thomas Jefferson -
That plug looks wet/black,which obviously means its wayy rich somewhere.I don't know if it woud be the pilot as much as the needle or main.If your cruising around at any more than 1/8 throttle your getting into the needle. You said it ran great for the last 2 weeks, which might point to atmopheric conditions Temps will play a big part during this time of the season. My shee runs great on a 70-75 degree day with no humidity, but in 85-90 degrees with 80% humidity,it lugs a bit in the lower rpms and produces a rich plug reading. The only happy medium I found was adding an extra 1" vent to the airbox and plugging it.When the temps and humidity rise,I'll pop out the plug and let the engine take in a bit more air.Its works good for me cause I'm not into rejetting for constant weather changes.Sure,I could just tuff it out on those hot/muggy days, but shee needs to be running her best at all times. Keep track of weather conditions as you experiment with jetting, its always good to test under the same conditions or close as possible when you tryin to dial it in.

But the working people are out of work.Outsourcing and foreign labor is killing manufacturing in this country. This country was built on its manufacturing capabilities, but now profits are not enough,so they must cut overhead so they can fatten there wallets. How can you compete with cheap labor. Its the easiest way to increase profits. Dummies need jobs too,not everyone is suited for college. You cannot take the labor jobs away to mexico, china whatever.I am a dummy,I'm a skilled laborer(machinist)I don't make 20-30 dollars an hour,I make 17 and I bust my ass for it(no union). These jobs are dissapearing everyday and some chinaman is making 10 dollars a day to do what I did. The goverment has the power to penalize these companies with tariffs and denying these companies of any subsidaries or tax breaks they recieve. I AM BY NO MEANS A FAN OF Kerry, but to say the economy is going to get worse with Kerry is just ridiculous.
-
How could Kerry run the economy into the ground when Bush already did that?Unemployment is at an all time high here in Ohio, something like 12%.I know that were the highest in the nation right now and it isn't looking to get any better soon. Instead of Bush ranting on about Kerrys war record,he should be working on a way to bring jobs to Ohio and put a stop to this outsourcing,I've been laid off twice in 2 years due to job cuts and foreign labor. We are one of the most critical states in the election and our economy is the worst.WTF,Kerry might not help out the other 49 states, but he's sure as hell not gonna hurt us.Were hurtin pretty bad right now.

Do not buy from djjc3 aka. Dan Cronan of Wilkes Barre Pa.This shit bag sold me some bolts that were suppose to be genuine Yamaha and most of them weren't even metric,I was only able to utilize half of the bolts Would not reply to emails so I left neutral feedback and even praised him on shipping and his speed on original email. He leaves me negative feedback and said I was a slow pay and never emailed him, even though I recieved the item 4 days from auctions end. What a f-ing shitbag, after the incident I found he duped someone else with a original yamaha bolts, only they were crate bolts. Don't buy from djjc3
-
Magic is number one in my book, great products and superfast shipping. Rocky mountain on the other hand are terrible shippers, good prices but my pipes were loosely packed with paper and the finish got all nicked up.The box looked like it was sitting on the "front lines" in Iraq for a month.I'll never buy pipes from them again. The pipes I bought from magic were Foam sprayed after they were put in the box, granted it was tough getting them out,but you could have dropped them off the Empire State building and they wouldn't have sustained any damage. Magic all the way.

How long does 110 octane gas stay fresh?
Nightrider replied to bansheeigo's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Mixed gas has a shelf life of 30 days. After 30 days the fuel will start to break down from the moisture thats been absorbed.Water will actually begin to develop in the fuel and varnish will form Gas will start to lose its octane after 7 days.A properly sealed container will slow the process, but the air thats trapped inside the drum or tank will contribute moisture and everytime you open the tank, your allowing more of that moisture/varnish to develop. A steel drum is the best container to store fuel in,but it must be kept in a controlled enviorment where drastic temp changes do not occur. -
could anything pressurize the cooling system?
Nightrider replied to nickxc's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I agree with some of the others, check your cap,as the temp rises,so does pressure and a badly leaking cap wil allow collant to escape as temperatures rise, not to mention your coolant will boil over faster if the cap is no longer pressre rated. It sounds too simple, but I just had a similar experience with my friends cr250 and turned out his cap was bad. -
Cheap way to reduce arm pump
