  1. Cleaning my junk and getting everything ready I need some paddles for the suzuki quad if somebody has some for sale that is coming on the ride!
  2. Nice!
  3. KX250, Banshee, and LTR 450. I ride the banshee til it breaks down on the first day, then ride dirt bike through the day and LTR 450 at night. My Banshee has the worst luck at Little Sahara. It's cursed
  4. It just hit me... I'm pumped! Gotta get my turds out and washed up. My dirtbike's motor is still in a box. Just got the cylinder back. Can't wait to hit the dunes
  5. My dad had one forever. Cool bikes. Unless its the ultimate sleeper or you dont ride well, you should be fine.
  6. Water boils at 212 when at atmospheric pressure. When its under pressure the boiling temp rises. So youre way over 212 when you hear it boiling. My oversized aluminum radiator cured my overheating problems. But I havent worked it hard on the sand at 105.
  7. Is the TORS system still on it? If so unplug the black box and check it again. There is a manual uploaded on here, just search for it. It has the resistance readings for all your ignition stuff. Ohm your CDI, pick up coil, stator, coil Good luck-
  8. There are plenty of big dunes. The very first time I pulled out there and started up the first hill it scared the shit out of me.
  9. ^^^ I agree. Find some other plastics to hack on or buy some aftermarket and keep yours stock.
  10. 20? two zero? In a 1 ton truck? Thats nuts. Some OEM brake controllers suck. I hated the one in my chevy. Dodges do have a nice ride but have the softest rear suspension by far. If you put any serious load behind a dodge, they look like gma's dog dragging it's ass across the carpet.
  11. And I have no idea how people get 18+mpg consistently on any diesel. My very best out of all 3 was 5.9 cummins that averaged 15 on one tank on the highway empty. Most of mine got 11-13 empty and as low as 6 loaded heavy. My 2007.5 cummins 6.7 showed 18-20 on display but that was a joke. It did the same as all my others +/- a tiny bit. My 5.3 chevy half ton wont get 18.
  12. Its enough to warrant a 3/4 ton truck without a doubt. Its always nice having the power of a diesel. It just sucked buying parts for them. Or even spending $80-100 for stuff to change the oil.
  13. My daddy-in-law has a 2008 chevy 6.0 gas and I have pulled 20-25k lbs with it. How much towing do you plan on doing? If its not much I would say get a gas truck!! Diesels are very very exspensive to maintain and repair.
  14. Im also a gm guy but Ive owned all 3's diesels. 5.9 cummins was a beast. BUT the transmission sucked. The trucks leaked everything. You could hide a small chikd in the busted ass dash or door panels. Dodge's styling is behind. Dirtymax was decent. Had to change a couple injectors and had a cold morning smoke that nobody coukd figure out even though it was a bad bad smoke. I HATED the independent front suspension on my chevy 4x4. Broke that shit a lot. Last one was a 2005 6.0 Ford 6.0. IN MY EXPERIENCE it was the best! Everybody knocks the 6.0's and I did too. But once I replaced injectors, soldered the ficm, deleted the egr, that truck gave me another 110k miles with NO problems. bought it with 90k miles and ran it to 203k. The 5 speed auto was nice. These were all ranch trucks and got worked hard.
  15. No.Why the fuck would anybody dump and vacuum a system with a leak?? Youre going to suck in air. And using a vacuum as a pressure test is M.R. And a 30" vacuum is impossible. Even on a sealed system. science says its impossible. Plus when youre at a 28" vacuum thats only equal to about 6psi positive pressure. So if a system holds 6 psi for 20 minutes its ok??? Man just clean the condenser and radiator and shit. Go get a can and charge it up to about 35-40 psi as long as the cab air temp is 80 or less with it on max ac full blast and recirculate. Unless you want to pay some dumbass 600-800 to do it wrong and probably have to do it again. Most leaks are on compressor or evaporator under the dash. Just charge it and see how long it lasts to determine how bad the leak is. good luck
  16. Dont panic. It's easy as shit. The shop is feet away and will sell you the flags for cheap. If you ride at night you need headlight and tail light. The first time you go ride stop at the entrance and pay $10 for a bracelet. Some times theres not even a person working the gates and you just go ride. There will be beer all over the dunes. There is not a noticable difference between 3.2 and 6 point beer.
  17. Here you go. only pic I had.. Aluminum bracket on rear fender. I think I bought that at Little Sahara. It was reasonably priced but I don't remember how much it was. It came with a spring mounted flag.
  18. LMS- There's plenty of stuff to jump. Just have a spotter on top of the hill so you don't land on somebody coming up the other side! I can post a pic of my flag holder on my KX250 but they mount on the rear plastic bolts.
  19. no. no. If a system is leaking you dont dump it and evacuate. It can't pull a vacuum if theres a leak! It just sucks air and moisture in. And damn sure dont dump more oil in it. Lol The only way you lose any significant amount of oil is if you take the compressor off and dump all the oil out. Down below you said the stuff at O'reillys hurts your system??? If it's 134a it doesnt make a damn where you buy it from. I'd personally not mess with any stop leak but nobody will ever ever ever ever know of there's stop leak in a refrigeration system unless you're a part time chemist.Tyler-- My old 5.9 cummins was really bad about getting a shit of dirt built up on the condensor. The fin spacing on it is smaller than the intercooler so it collects everything. Make sure its clean. Wash it with a water hose the opposite way of air flow if possible. Or at least wash it downward. Try not to spray it straight in to it. A ton of dirt will get clogged right in the center. If its clean and still not cooling grab the lines going in to the cab to the evaporator. The small line should be warm but not crazy hot. The big line should be cold. About 35-50° cold. If its warm its most likely undercharged. Dump some refrigerant in it and get it back where it needs to be. If it makes it another 2-3 yrs then you'd be wasting your time trying to find the leak. If its low again in a month or so, you need to find and repair the leak. I'll send you a PM and can walk you through charging it. Theres nothing to it. Your best bet is to get a real set of gauges to get high and low pressure readings. Print off the 20% coupon for harbor freight and go buy their automotive gauges for $40 if you want. Buying 134a by the cans is outrageous. I just bought a 30lb drum of.it for $99 at Atwoods.
  20. Gasket scraper and a little carb cleaner or solvent. Ive used a light flat sanding wheel on a pneumatic cut off grinder but be VERY careful. Best just to use a gasket scraper or razor blade on gasketa and take your time. Power tools can get your gasket surfaces unlevel. It's not neccesary to get the top of piston or head sparkling clean. Just get all the carbon off of it.
  21. plug boots? Is it losing fire on right side?
  22. That hinson basket looks new! Nice score. Look for wear where the clutches turn the basket. You can see ridges in the stock basket. Does this guy have any more boxes of goodies laying around?
  23. Get a photobucket account. Put the photobucket app on phone if you want or just open it in your browser. upload the pics to.photobucket and then copy the IMG CODE and paste it in a reply. Dont do pistons or any boring or anything it doesnt need! If it just needs a quick hone and rings then just do that. Mic the cylinder as outlined the chiltons book. Its posted on here somewhere where you can download it. So check cylinder and see if its within specs. Then mic your piston and subtract that number from cylinder number. That will be the piston to cyl clearance. check it with the numbers in chilton book. If you have problems just post your numbers up and somebody will help. Does it have factory pistons in it?? But first you need to search for that repair manual and download it.
  24. Unfortunatley probably 3500 obo here in Okla. But not very many are selling it seems like. Might be better to part it out?? Keep ot and enjoy it a coupke years and it will still be worth the same. Nice clean bike!
