  1. Makes sense
  2. Still have cylinders? How much? Thanks-
  3. I'm interested in hearing how to size paddles. How owuld you size them for a pretty stock banshee or one with the mods you guys are saying like porting, pipes, and +4 timing?
  4. Just finished teardown and splitting cases. I also found the flywheel key missing. It didnt fall out its just gone. Redneck timing advance??? if it went way advance would it cause this damage? Id expect more damage and heat on top. Right??
  5. Seen one on tulsa clist that was stroked, bored etc etc and "has a big loping cam" in it!! And see them occasionally that say bored to a 477 or some ridiculous number...
  6. What about just lowering the front on a budget?
  7. What about just lowering the front on a budget?
  8. Thats what i needed to hear. Thanks guys... I'll be in the for sale forums lookin for a arms. :-D
  9. Anybody run one? did a search but didnt find anything. diamond d or something like that sells these kits on ebay that are just brackets that bolt to the frame that you bolt your a arms to and they have tie rod extensions. I know theyre cheesy but anybody have them? Are they ok for a bike like mine thats on a budget and will never be a bad ass head turning 150hp quad. Im 155 lb rider that isnt hitting 50' jumps. For 250 bucks you could do this kit, 1.5" wheel spacers on back and lowering dog bone on back and paint the brackets your frame color to look kinda decent on there. Thoughts? Thanks guys!
  10. Frame looks bent.. but my wheels were doing that too and it was just loose stuff. check the 2 allen bolts the the steering arm that bolts on driver side or left side. I could turn my bars and it would only turn one wheel before the other side would finally start moving. BUT compared to mine your frame also looks hurt. Im going to sell my purple powder coated frame after riding season or trade it for a virgin factory frame i can pc any color besides purple... Im around tulsa ok if ur close enough and interested.
  11. Haha! ok thanks a ton guys! i worked at a lawnmower shop for almost 5 yrs in high school and college so can handle majority of this stuff. But i'll search the leak test to see more info. squish test is new to me. I'll look that one up. ive got a manual coming. one of my students is supposed to bring me his old clymer. Thanks for the offer on the bottom end but John (nyuk) is mailing me some cases and a crank already. The gas tank is dry with the exception of some water.. The bike had been sitting for about 10-12 months under a tarp under a lean-to on a barn before i bought it. the little bit of fuel in carbs looked lean. it was old fuel and hard to tell but i suspected straight gas.. thanks again guys. Im looking forward to getting her running then tearing it back down this winter to doll it up.
  12. Where u located? How much for paddles?
  13. WOW that's a sick bike! Thanks for the reply. Straight gas you think? Paranoid about melting this thing down after a fresh rebuild....
  14. Left side had broken rod. This is the right side piston.
  15. Hey guys. Bought this Banshee a couple weeks ago and got it torn down last night. According to previous owner it had low hours on rebuilt top end and he loaned it to a friend and the friend returned it with a bad motor. I'm about to start going back together with it and don't want it to lean out and burn up again. Are there any common problems I need to look for? Intake boots etc look good. I 'm guessing he filled it up with straight gas and burned it up. The left rod bearing got HOT and it threw a rod through the case. Any opinions??? Thanks!!
  16. I originally thought the left side leaned out but the right cylinder is hurt bad too. Any opinions on any of this stuff would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Left side cylinder that had the broken rod.
  18. Some material got left behind on the crank. I was going to replace it when taking my bottom end out and transferring to new cases. ?
  19. Can I post pics and ask for opinions on this failure? I was wrong, I thought the cylinders and top end looked pretty decent but they're hurt. The story I got was the owner loaned it to a friend and the friend brought it back and said it died and wouldn't restart. I'm guessing he filled her up with staright fuel. ??? opinions? I hate to rebuild this engine and have it lean out and burn it up again. Is there any problem areas I need to double check or anyhting? Thanks a ton guys!!
  20. Thanks guys. I'll look him up. Funny that u mentioned that because my local deal on parts just fell through. Just bought a few things from 007banshee's quad too. I need to post up some pics of my crank and rod to get some opinions. It had a fresh rebuild and the left cylinder melted down pretty bad. The rod bearing was HURT and left some bearing/rod on the crank. The cylinder and piston look decent. ??? But the rod bearing area is blue from getting so hot. Looks like a recwnt rebuild too with good parts. a little concerned...
  21. Picked up this Banshee from my cousin last weekend as a little project for me and the kiddo. I've had lots of 2 stroke dirt bikes but this is my first Banshee. Loooooove 2 strokes! Has a broken rod that busted the case. Picking up parts to get it back together so I can do some riding this summer. I plan on tearing it down this winter to doll it up. It's been neglected quite a bit. Lots of great looking bikes on here! good motivation for me.
