At 1000 feet, i would say your main is a little fat. is it 3/4 throttle in every gear, or just in like 5th or 6th? Your gearing and tires (paddles?) could be playing a small factor also. Are the plugs wet? Is your motor ported? Maybe drop down to 270 or 280. Hopefully some one else can chime in here and help.
Im not saying it cant be done. Yes you will use about 30% more also, but the 2 stroke is much more tricky to tune. There is a thread in the jetting forum i belive that a guy is messing with e85 on his banshee. You have to understand that the banshee's gas tank is small to begin with and running regular gas you cant ride too long anyways. when you switch to e85 you will be consuming that small tank even faster. usually people that trail ride like to ride for a while without having to go back to camp or carry an extra gas can to refuel. Search for that e85 thread and see what you can find.
You will burn through alky as fast as e 85. Why do you want to run alky for the trails? I understand the powergains, but i bet that mono block setup you have would be plenty of power for the trails on pump gas or race gas. You should try that first before switching to alky. Its pretty easy to switch to alky.
I think you may have a difficult time tuning the carbs for e85. from what i have read, its not as easy to tune a 2 stroke on 85 as it is a 4 stroke. Plus if you are trail riding you will probably be riding longer distances and you will consume way more e85 way faster then running race or pump gas.
If you can, try to switch a good known cdi or coil (different steps so you know which part may have corrected the problem). if that fixes it then you know what to replace.
Can you loosen the hanger and rotate it forward? you should be able to. if you have oem hoses they should be good and not melt through. if you are worried, then take a piece of radiator hose that is larger diameter and zip tie it in the correct spot using it as a shield.
Ride it like you stole it, but first you need to break it in like you own it and paid your hard earned dollars on it. Just like tick tock said, heat cycles with varied throttle positions. Never keeping it at the same position for too long. Also COMPLETELY cooling it down before the next cycle. And dont forget, vegetable oil in the trans and olive oil in the bottom end (that extra virgin shit is for pussies)
Depending on who you talk to, you will get separate responses. I would give some of the site sponsors a call and see what they can do for you. redline, fast, herr jugs, etc.
Wife wants a new RZR 900 so my toy has to go.
unless that banshee is an rzr, i bet his answer is no. It's called reading, top to bottom left to right, group words together to form a sentence. take tylenol for any headaches, midol for any cramps.
Cascade innovations makes a much better quality 2-1 manifold over trinity's. Im running that this season with a 35 pwk (new manifold this year, using the single 35 for 2 years now). Havent gotten to test it yet, but i switched to the single 35 from the stockers and the bottom and mid feels much better. If i was only riding trails, i would prefer the single over the stockers.
I know you can make them street legal down there. When I lived down there, I had a buddy that had a banshee that was street legal. I'm pretty sure it has to pass emissions before it can be street legal. Make sure the Carbs are tuned dead nuts (or maybe just a touch lean) and maybe run premium or some race fuel to make sure it runs clean. Make sure the bike is warm also. It will also need a mirror and a brake light. I hope someone will chime in if I'm giving inaccurate info.
