  1. This sounds like an asshole reply but you really need to ride more. The more you ride the less it hurts. Twist throttles really suck for trails
  2. I go 3 sizes up for winter and avoid the really cold days. My rule is; if your thumb freezes within 5 minutes,go back home. Generally this happens at -20celcius.
  3. Here's the deal with studs, you need snomo studs most likely with a tube. Snomo studs will have carbide tips which are ESSENTIAL if you have to go even 50 feet on paved roads. Carbide tipped studs are the only things which will not wear out on pavement. If you use anything else, they will get instantly chewed up on pavement and will no longer bite on ice. Tire slime will not hold up at those temps.
  4. it still sounds to me like a blocked fuel line. Have you tried switching to the Reserve line to see if the main is blocked? Re check the fuel cap hose to make sure it is flowing and not pinched.
  5. That new truck you hit will never be the same as new. I would have beat you silly on the spot. Then I would make it a habit to beat you once a week for a whole year. You are totally irresponsible and deserve much worse than you got. Assholes like you are the reason we all have to pay high insurance fees. Are you 12 years old? It sure seems like it. I'm shocked that you would come here looking for sympathy
  6. 400 EX's are for girls. 2k1 definitely has a big sloppy vagina.
  7. I live 50 miles north of Montreal in a small lakefront community called Esterel. We have many local 4 wheeler trails managed by the local clubs. Since just about everybody and their wife and child own a machine here, they passed some local by laws to enable us to ride on the streets as long as you're on your way either to or from the trails. Now everybody just uses them to go anywhere they have to. On those rare occasions that I get stopped by the Police all I say is that I was on my way to the trail and its all good. Its a nice loophole because I have no motorcycle license yet can ride a very powerful and fast 4 wheeler allover the place. Canada rocks
  8. It sounds plausible to me. I would try it too if I had the parts lying around. The only downsides that I can foresee would be sticky throttle due to so many throttle cables, carb sync issues, fitting betwen the exhausts, unexpected turbulence in the intake boots. I bet with a lowrange pipe it would have good bottom end if tuned just right. Do it. Do it.
  9. Realtors are awesome for climbing and mud and sand and snow and if you put a big hole in em they still get you home.
  10. If you keep moving you should never have problems. If you're stupid like me then you'll go mud bogging and overheat the bitch. I run 50/50 with a half bottle of Redline water wetter and it will still overheat if you go too slow. These bikes were made to go. I don't believe that Engine Ice would keep me from overheating if I mud bog so I don't see the advantage. Keep a bottle of water in your backpack to cool your rad a little if it overheats. Just go as fast as you can whenever you can.
  11. I run a 50/50 Prestone mix with added Water Wetter and recently managed to boil my coolant on an 80 degree day but it was my fault because I was mudbogging. I run Water Wetter in my 400hp naturally aspirated Mustang and it seems to help a bit.
  12. Regular 10w30 oil just like the owners maual says
  13. Sweet score. It looks so nice n perfect. Go out and kick it or something. Get some dirt on it. Yell at it.....Enjoy
  14. I cleaned it up and restored the coolant level so that i could ride the piss out of her again today and all is well. No damage. Gonna keep away from the bogs from now on. That computer fan idea has definitely got my attention. I'm gonna look into it. THX
  15. I was out riding the piss out of my Banshee today in the trails. I was exploring some old Skidoo trails and went deeper and deeper until the trail was so rough that I was bogging in deep mud and pushing the bike more than riding it. The coolant started to boil so I shut her down. I let it cool for about 2 mins and poured cold pond water on the rad tocool it. I stated it back up 30 minutes later and rode it home by road to keep it cool. All seemed ok on the way home but I never pushed it hard. How bad is this? Would this have happened with Engine Ice? I use Water Wetter already but apparently for no good reason.
  16. A friend of mine has one bored and stroked to 350 and it FLIES
  17. 2 strokes are alive and well here in Canada. The dealers sell tons of them. I was at Quadpro the other day and they had a showroom full of KTM 2 strokes. I went to the local MX track and 8 out of 10 people were riding new 2 strokes. There are 7 or 8 new 2008 Banshees coming in as well. I bet Honda regrets the fact that nobody buys their CR 's around here anymore.
  18. Get a good Tap and Die kit. These will prove to be useful again and again.
  19. When you take a high speed wipeout on a standup Jetski usually one of the grips comes ripping off completely in your hand even the bolted on ones. Spraypaint works too.
  20. I was like you and had a friend sell me his brand new 2001 which had done almost 3 tanks in its life. I wanted a TOTALLY stock and MINT condition bike and got it. I paid him $2300. Canadian dollars. I wouldn't have it any other way. Ride it hard and clean her like a freak too and she'll stay mint. Nice score. Enjoy it
  21. A Jetski is the ultimate grip tester. ODI grips don't usually stay on for long. I have a really great method which is super easy and really works well. I've been doing this for 25 years with no problems. It sounds crazy but cut off the old grips and clean the bars and apply some WD-40 to the inside of the grips (not a lot) and slide em on. Don't touch it for 2 days and they will be bullitproof. Works for twists as well. You couldn't move my grips if you were paid to.
  22. I own a piece of shit Polaris Octane 800 (standup) and NOBODY can catch me coming out of the hole. NOBODY. My top speed is only 80 mph but it hurts too much to hit the water at that speed anyway. Good luck with the track. Time and perseverance will triumph in the end.It took me years to build a trail / obstacle course behind my house for 4x4's but it was worth it in the end.
  23. I can't even ride my Shee with motocross boots. The pegs are too high and close to the shifter. What are people doing to remedy this? The newer quads have a much better peg location which lets you ride with mx boots right out of the box. The newer pegs are also wider. I cant stand having to pay constant attention to where my shifting foot is so that i can shift without missing. Missed shifts= lost races. I currently ride in Caterpillar construction boots because of the ankle movement it allows me. At least I never miss a shift but I would prefer to be able to ride in mx boots. What are the popular solutions?
  24. I have a set of 22's that I throw on when the trails are really muddy and I love them. Gearing isn't ideal but I only use them now and then. They don't hit nearly as many logs and rocks as my 20's make me hit but they do look a bit funny when i'm standing still which is rarely so no p. I enjoy them. They are a clear advantage in snow.
  25. If you ride trails then nothing will hold up to the abuse so I suggest the easiest thing to fix. Spray paint, flat black
