  1. X2 on the prep work. I used tremclad and it didn't come off until I rolled mine 2 years later. Make sure there is no dust or anything else floating through the air when you paint and afterwards.
  2. I haven't had a chance to take it apart yet, but I think I damaged it this winter. Went out on the lake with 2 foot snow drifts and it sucked some snow in and the carbs froze wide open. had to keep hitting the kill switch to make it back in. Ran good for 3 trips after. This ride was just to keep it lubed and only lasted for 10 minutes and quit when I pulled in the driveway. I'll know for sure what happened because I've seen a few sleds that sucked snow in, a very specific pattern on the piston.
  3. Took my bike out for a quick ride tonight and the right side blew. Haven't taken it apart yet so don't know what went wrong. I've been beating on it for 2 years and the previous owner definitely didn't look after it. I knew this day was coming, but was praying to get through the summer. Not to bad for reliability 11 years of running strong!
  4. Here's mine hopefully(never posted a pic before)
  5. I run HD's with 15-40 gearing and have no problems breaking loose when I want( with the exception of a freshly harvested soyabeans!lol). Wear wise they seem to be ok, did a lot of pavement this year and not by choice(long story).Turned them around for this riding season.
  6. Glad you're ok! My wife was the first to wipe my Banshee out. Rolled it on a corner at thanksgiving and has to have surgery on her shoulder( torn rotator cuff). She says she's getting back on the Banshee as soon as she can. Take care of yourself!
  7. We sell Evinrude outboards and Mercury 4 strokes and the E-tecs out sell the Mercs 5 to 1. 2-strokes rule as an outboard motor!
  8. damn it if the wife didn't have to work every f****** weekend. just put 36 ,1 1/4" per tire. sounds like a good time!
  9. you can build a 2 stroke for whatever you want. It takes knowledge and compromise. The exact same thing it takes to build a 4 stroke.......money doesn't hurt either!lol
  10. any Lakes or rivers frozen enough to ride on? If they are snow covered know anybody that can scape it down to bare ice? Stud your tires and hold on, hooks better than pavement it you do it right!
  11. I've run 80w90 and have gone back to 10w30. In the colder temps the tranny takes to long to warm up and the clutch feel is better with the 10w30. jmo. Haven't tried ATF and likely won't. 10w30 is what is recommended in the clymers.
  12. Where I live we don't get a lot of snow but the lakes and rivers freeze up pretty good. Nothing like running a meandering creek for miles, corner after corner, then back out on the lake for a wide open run. love it! Just wish I had my shit together already!lol
  13. Thanks for all the input so far guys. I was wondering if anyone had some pics for snomo stud placement/ pattern. I also have an idea for not using a tube. We use a below the waterline marine caulking on mounting bolt for outboards and the stuff is strong and pliable. so strong in fact that it held a 250hp V6 outboard on the boat without the bolts, had to pry the sucker off! Just not sure how it will handle the low temps.
  14. thanks for the ideas. I've got 2 sets of bald rear tires and I want to get a set of good rims for the summer.
