  1. After that, reeds wouldnt hurt, then a rejet!
  2. Sounds personal!
  3. I agree with the rest of these guys, but as Larry said at the begining of the thread, whats a guy doing running a boost bottle across the intakes with a motor like that, when there are so many more better options than that? That, plus not knowing your carb size, I dont know, but Id be hesitant. His ad said $2500 at the end, its probably worth it, but youd have to see it in person to know for sure. IMO!
  4. As I said, I like having her there, Im actually prowd of her for riding, and me for teaching her to do it.
  5. First of all gotta_gofast, you should remove and start a new post, so that your answers to your questions dont end up mixed up with mine. Im just kinda learning about these items, and youre obviously a lot more versed than me, so although I appreciate your input, your questions are going to fill my post with info that I have no idea about, JMO! Thanks to everyone who has responded, I feel I am getting the idea here. For a trail bike then, these ( depending on the type) are a waste of dollars, if you cant downshift without slowing or stopping? Or if you can buy a style which would be good for my application, what is the best type? I understand that these are not turning a clutched bike into an automatic, so I wonder if its even worth it to install one? Rajun, your vid shows you going, but turning back around at the other end of the straight are you stopping and correcting your gearbox then? ie.... are you shifting it back to first gear at a stopped position? Also, am I to believe that the slingshot style is always a stealth style (hidden) and a direct drive is usually shown off like on Bookers bike (which I agree looks stellar)? What is the issue with the back loading then, is it creating high pressure or? What is the idea behind having to clutch above a RPM vs. having to clutch at a lower RPM, if the override is intended to help eliminate the clutch in the first place? Sorry about all the questions, this could be a long one.
  6. So it actually takes the place of the clutch plates?
  7. I had questions about pistons when I did my first build, and the general consensus was that a wiseco was the way to go, but thats opinion. I bought and have run wisecos before with no issues caused by them, but there are plenty of good pistons out there. Be sure to buy forged thats all. Certainly for piece of mind you could find a set of wisecos for around the same price, maybe a bit more? I dont know how to create a link, but heres an item # I found, no bearings though, Ive bought from this guy before. Ebay item #400167839997 Im wondering what that 20 sided piece is beside the rings on the photo you provided?
  8. My suggestion is to remove all lights, and go in stealth mode, oh wait, the pipes might give you way, ok forget it!
  9. That part # youre looking for is es2074r, its a heim joint off a subaru brat. The main threaded part is 14mm, and the spindle pin is 10mm. I used them on my burgard a arms, and they are fine. Props to NYUK for giving me this number when I was looking for it. In fact I renamed my dog es2074r, so I wouldnt forget it. You will have to ream your spindles to make these fit.
  10. Alright, so under normal trail riding, and some track as well, its kinda useless? Mine doesnt have crazy horsepower like that (not sure on how much), nor do I have an issue keeping the front end down, as Im 230lbs.
  11. Whats a black one worth? Are they PC'd or anodized?
  12. Alright, so in a nut shell, what are the purposes of these two items? I see them on here alot, and I dont think Ive ever seen one in person operational?
  13. X100, split them! I split my cases last year for the first motor build I ever did (thanks to all these guys), and put it all back together. Rode it for 3/4 of the break in, and had another failure. It seems like a roller bearing from somewhere was rolling around in my pipes, and it screwed my piston dome up pretty badly, so lucky me, I got to rebuild twice in 2 weeks. Clean everything right, forget the hanging of the bike, its not worth doing it twice. Heres what a tiny roller bearing can do to a fresh rebuild
  14. X2 for me with the carbs, lets see how long it takes them at Christmas time to get them here. lol! Great communication as well.
  15. That sounds to me like an air leak, have you done a leak down test? If no damage was done to the domes, dont change them, but check the seal on the head if its a 2 pc.
  16. Ride covered it all! Try using the for sale forum to get quality parts at a good price. Make sure you check the guys feedback before you buy from them, to be safe. Oh and welcome to your new addiction.
  17. PM sent PJs and seat sold.
  18. Stellar job on the link, works like a charm, I wish all of us had that kind of tech no how! Im interested in the PJs, as well as the seat cover (if youd seperate it for shipping). Im in Canada at L1N1B2, could you put together a shipping quote for me? Ill PM you about pricing.
  19. Ran out after 2 hours, then added a bit of fuel to get me home and ran out again, but thanks for bringing up the mistake. Alright then, I have jetted to a bit rich, so I might bring it down a size. Now I need a bit more riding to see if it holds steady on the consumption. So winter will cause it to burn more fuel eh? huh!
  20. OK, so Ive bought a dual pingel off egay, and was talking about it on another thread, thats what brought up the fact that my fuel consumption was high. I havent installed the pingel yet, as I wanted to correct my issue before I do. I had gone for a ride with some buds, and ran out of gas after two hours. I was trail riding, and not that hard. I dont have a leak, or Id see fuel on the floor under the bike. I was stunned when I ran out, as I thought it should have used only half that. Any ideas? These are stock carbs, check my mods.
  21. Hey, Welcome! Good call on the manual, its the bible, and here of course. Everything that you want help on with your bike, is going to need correct answers when these guys ask a question. We cant check your elevation cause you didnt make it part of your profile, you need to know what size jets are in your bike now, to know which size to go to next. We need to know whats in your airbox, and if their are holes in it? etc................ There are a few standard questions that need to be asked and answered.
  22. I dont know, youre obviously the expert. Im just here to ride the bike. Im just telling Jesse, that I went out for a 2 hour ride, and ran out twice, period. I have no leaks, those are my mods. Maybe you just got a really good efficient set of 39's?
  23. Very interested in the wheels as well, if the other fella doesnt take em, I will. Please keep in touch via PM, as I sometimes lose track of where Ive been.
  24. Seriously man, that set of carbs is meant for the desert. You will not be able to trail ride with those carbs, not unless theres a fuel can hidden every 10-15 kms. Im serious on that one. I went riding with stock carbs and my mods and ran out twice in a 2 hour ride.
