  1. With stock pipes you'll never make enough power to hurt the crank, unless you're really abusive/stupid. J or A shocks are all same. Upper arm bushings seem to wear faster, I suggest bronze bushings. Other than extended arms rarely turn up used and new are little harder to get, ain't damn thing wrong with a J frame (IMHO) . Grip it and rip it !!
  2. I know Savage 420 did one or had link to write up. biggest thing is make sure boss for idle screws is filed down enough
  3. Grounds, key/switches, connections, plug caps. Check all
  4. .010 bore is not a mod. remove snorkel is. air box mods, carbs, pipes, anything performance improving
  5. Well unless you have forgotten something, you state problem began when you changed cable. So it has to be something that was done or happened during this process. Clean carbs and check float level.
  6. 2s are often called 2smokers for a reason. The type of oil and mix ratio affects this. What are you running? Does it smoke more out of right than left? If so, you have a bad seal and are burning trans oil. Really should do a comp test and leakdown test seeing as the shee is new to you, and you are new to 2s. Highly suggest getting a Clymers Repair Manual, will cover 99.9% of anything needed. Might be best to clean the carbs, set float levels, record what jets are in. Do them one at a time as they have simular but different parts. Might as well post the jetting and all known mods to your bike too.
  7. Instead of using a Presidential solution (NR) why not do it right? Either get correct studs or cut those off right amount. You take a chance of pulling studs if they are not threaded in enough. Clean holes and studs and use Loctite on them.
  8. Have you tried a different stator? Hows flywheel? Pick-up gap? Plug chop- plug read? Have you searched to ensure P brake is properly disabled?
  9. What's your budget? What caused rod to break? How did it run before it blew? What other mods do you have? What are your short and long term plans for this?
  10. Banshee1026 rewinds stators and is a sponser (?) that makes quality new stators. More economical than OEM.
  11. Basically you slot the screw holes so it can be rotated clockwise. DIY Timing Plate Mod in sub forum, Modification and Parts -Technical Info. Sorry, can't copy/paste on here. Also Google search: Yamaha Banshee timing plate mod + Banshee HQ will get you more results.
  12. Middle of the MURDER MITTEN nice. Next time take time off work and drive to Linwood or Alger no hood rats on either side of the counter My father retired early in the mid 70's because USPS was already going to shit.
  13. you talking bowl gasket?
  14. FYI, you can "mod" the stock plate to get about 4*. Or you can get an offset flywheel key. The key only indexes the flywheel, the taper along with the nut torqued properly is what holds it in place. Been running a key for 2 1/2+ yrs, no problems. Lapped flywheel to new crank, good to go.
  15. Thought all Canucs ran Moose oil? I use Klotz Benol 28:1

  19. nope
  20. Welcome !! Removing snorkle from a bone stock is considered a "mod" as is anything that changes the way air/fuel enters or leaves the engine. Do you know what kind of oil the previous owner used? What oil did you use? Some oil smokes more than others even at same ratio.
  21. See, if a newbie comes on and doesn't act all cock strong they actually get good info. All launch tactics are spot on, so far. How much air do you have in rear tires? Find a longer "strip" to race on. While learning about other set-ups/mods, concentrate on your current set-up for now. Get a Clymers manual and do all the basic maintenance. BTW, Welcome!!
  22. Might have to tweek the air screw and/or raise the needle. All part of tuning. ONLY change one thing at a time
  23. Did you leak test before tear down? What caused the failure? Pics of pistons, head, cyls? Squish? head cc's ? Sent from inside your ole lady's pussy
