  1. I have Mikuni carbs but the 170 main is a heihin and the 200 is a generic main that came in the carb rebuild kit.
  2. Yeah so the170 heihin substitute for the 300 didn't stop the ping and the superfast over heating so I guess I'm gunna just go down from 300 and up on the pilot and see what happens unless there is some thing else that is causing it and I find it first. But either way I need to get the jetting right.
  3. Yeah that would be the right choice but If I didn't need to that would save me money and time. And I learned spark plugs already.
  4. Its the stock filter just with no box. Elevation is around 750 to 800. Ok that makes since then because it had the hex 170 keihin mains in already and I was told that would be around 300 mikuni mains, but I switched them out because I didn't want to run keihin mains in mikuni carbs, but they fit and worked fine so maybe I'll put them back in since I don't have any 300 mikuni mains sitting around. I'll try that and post if it changed or not.
  5. Sorry I posted so many threads but what better way to find the problem then a group effort lol. But seriously I need help because I read the thread on jetting and got it but need some extra help. I have 200 mains and 25 pilot all stock except pro circuit exhaust and the air filter has no box. Any ways It is idling fine and running fine but it has a ping and is overheating about 45 seconds after starting it up. I read that could be because It is too lean, I tried messing with the A/F screw but nothing. What could it be anyone. i'm about to go read jetting thread again but any ideas would be great.
  6. Ok thanks I will check those threads out. I went ahead and just put the 200 mains in just because it didn't seem right having jets from another carb. So thanks for the help i'm gunna go check out those threads.
  7. I have 170 keihin main jets and generic 25 pilot jets in my 01 banshee. When I first bought this banshee (used not brand new) it had the keihin 170 main jets and mikuni 25 pilot jets in stock mikuni carbs. I bought a rebuild kit for the carbs that came with generic 200 main and generic 25 pilot jets. All mechanical parts are stock but it has pro circuit pipes and exhaust (don't know how much difference it makes) So my question is, is it bad to run keihin main jets in mikuni carbs and if not should I use the 170 or the generic 200?And on top of that should I just keep using the mikuni 25 pilot jets or the new generic 25 pilot jets. I ask since I don't know much about jetting and the effects it has on the performance of the banshee. ( oh and I have the tors eliminator kit on it and my stock filter does not have the box. The box was removed and the filter is tightened on to the carbs, just some extra info)
  8. Well I ended up putting the original main jets in the carbs and the needles that go with them because the carb rebuilt kit that I bought had different one so I thought maybe that was causing a the problem and when I did that it started up. So maybe that was it but I also got the idle screw put in right and now it starts on first kick and runs fine so thanks for the suggestions but I got it going now.
  9. Yeah maybe, how would you check to see if it is that. I also thought maybe the ignition coil but have not checked yet.
  10. Yeah everything with the carbs is correct.
  11. Yeah I will check the pilots because it has been sitting for a month so it could be clogged up, but I just rebuilt the carbs the last time I had it going and rid it around (just around the block a couple time for testing purposes) with choke half out. Can it clogged up with only one ride on a fresh rebuild of the carbs?
  12. Ok the boots are good the carbs are good I haven't done the plugs yet but everything else seems to be good. I don't understand why it would be doing this when just a month ago it was starting and idling fine (at least with the choke half out) and since then it hasn't been ridden. I will be putting the plugs in in a couple of days and hope that is what the problem is.
  13. I did all the carb things, but I will check the carb boots and see if they are worn out. I will be putting to plugs as well.
  14. So I installed the tors eliminator kit and had a problem getting it to stay idling, I ended up needing to file the carbs down more where to screws go and after doing that it would idle and ride fine with the choke half out but when I pushed the choke in it would idle really high then turn off. And I left it at that. Its been like a month since I haven't had time to work on it but I pulled it out yesterday filled it with fresh fuel and couldn't get it to kick on at all after like 400 kicks I gave up for that day. I left everything the way it was from when it was turning on and idling with the choke out. So does any one have any idea why it won't start at all now?
