remove airbox lid, do ihave to re jet?
blaster2006 replied to BANSH-alena-jol-EE's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
yes you obviously have to rejet if you let more in, by removing the lid. if you only remove the lid and keep the airbox and stock filter, just bump up 3 sizes or 4 sizes up on the main jet, but im pretty sure the stock filter is not made to run without the lid. just get K&N filter for the airbox, or even getter get the pods. -
nah its the tusk kit, just got them installed anyway, my mechanic insisted on putting all HD springs, its a tight clutch now, but meh, its not that bad, atleast i will get a buff left hand it runs sweet, just i noticed a huge difference in when it releases, the clutch actually releases when you release it like half an inch after you release it... before i had to release it more for the thing to actually start moving from first, now the slightest release and it gets moving.. is this normal ... or what? and how can i change it back to normal if its not normal

ok and as for the soaking in oil, is it the metal plates with the theeth on the inside, or the black ones with the teeth sticking outside? or do i soak both?
-
what exactly do you have to soak btw, the black plates or the metal plates ( dont really know their proper names)? or do i soak them both? i also got some HD springs, and my bike is only piped/ filter/ reeds etc, thats okay right? and its only going to be a LITTLE harder to pull in the clutch?

if your bike is too fast, and you need to slow it down abit, thats what boost bottles are made for. ok, in reality, they dont do anything. its one of the mods.. which.. .. well just dont do anything. useless, dont get one.

just got my new tusk clutch kit with HD springs to install on my banshee. my mechanic will be helping me out for free, but we both would like to know some stuff quickly... i remeber reading something about cables bla bla pay attention or something, what was that? we were just replacing the friction/pressure plates.. (no splitting cases or removing the bottom end..) and putting springs. the cover of the clutch kit tells me 3 steps, the last step i dont understand..: 1. Smear the friction plates in drivecase oil before installing. 2..... 3. With the engine running, slip the clutch for a few seconds to remove excess oil before running. how do you "slip the clutch" and drivecase oil meaning just normal engine oil.. right?

Rubberneck you dirty dog!congrats bro!

rubberneck, what you gonna do with the old shee? -
X2 on that, i would grap T6s if i were in your situation, get some K&N pods( or 2in1 with airbox filter), and maybe some V-force 3 reeds, and rejet. if you are at sea level, and you decide to go with the POD filters, about 300 mains would be perfect, and 1 turn out on airscrew using stock pilots would be a good starting point. (personally when i richened the clip, i felt it too rich, only needed to change my mains and richen the air screw slithgly when i got my same mods as you are wanting to get (in my sig).

exactly why they make boost bottles, works like noss, has special boost inside them. they activate when you put you grip your pipes tight after riding for 30 mins , they dont work on cold motor/ pipes. so warm your bike up, and squeeze your pipes, and then you will get BOOOOOST. have fun

did you guys notice... "Trades....I MAY TAKE NICE JET SKI SITDOWN, A CUSTOM LIFTED GOLF CART OR 4x4 quad" "CASH TALKS & BULLSH** WALKS!! I need the money, just got laid off, due to slow economy!"
-
yeah, throttle over ride system, they are triangle shape boxes on top of your carburetors, if you are not really good in mechanics i dont recommend removing them, they dont do much they are just some stupid thing yamaha put.

Where the hell can i buy this:
blaster2006 replied to blaster2006's topic in General Banshee Discussion
great.. ive never really understood what a lock up clutch does other than just.. i mean keep it safe so it does not slip? is that all it does? if it keeps the clutch from slipping, why doesnt everybody have one.. like a must have, instead of everyone having pipes etc. or is it only for heavy modded bikes? and is the lockup fairly easy to install? -
good to have, what would have been 10 times more interesting, is if you found a 1987 banshee, brand new! that would be a classssic! i would love to have a brand new 87 banshee.. plus if its 5% less every year then...22 years.. 5%, thats %110 off but wow.. i would pay $6500 for a new 87' shee from dealer, keep it forever... and pass it on to my children etc etc till like year 2100.. sell it for.. LOADS

everytime i search clutch covers for banshees on ebay, all i see are those stupid billet ones.. (im talking just about the circle thing.. that you replace for look for example.. something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-BANS...%3A1|240%3A1318. what if i only want the circle part to be see-through (transparent)? the only transparent ones are the full clutch covers with the water pump etc and lock up clutch, can someone tell me where i can find a see through one just the circular piece to change for looks? if people sold those it would make LOADS of money...

-
thanks guys but if anyone can recommend between the ones listed. i need this kinda asap.. jeff if out till 17th... and its also quite expensive
-
im deciding between 2 clutch kits from ebay (only ones i could find for less than $80 that ships internationally http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...RTQ:MOTORS:1123 (this set's brand is called "emgo", and the springs are same as stock" thats what the seller told me when i messaged him) or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Bans...%3A1|240%3A1318 or if this is worth the money.. (abit more expensive than the 2 above)? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-BANS...%3A1|240%3A1318

heya.. just recently.. raised my clip a notch to richen my jetting abit, since i was told i was abit too lean. i dropped the clip to the 4th notch from the top. now whenever i rev it 1/2 throttle... it gives this weird rattling engine noise... and it smooths out when i push it to full it has a smooth revving noise. but at have throttle it has a gorgling bubbling rattling noise dontchya like that word? ;p so i guess that im gonna have to put it back on 3rd clip knowing that its abit too rich? and then ill probably go up 1 size on the mains jump to a 290
